Asanka Cafe reviews
27Unbeatable café view of the Nine Arches Bridge, lovely staff, and tasty food. We had banana pancakes, papaya juice and a tea pot.
Really sweet little pitstop with a great view of the bridge. Delicious fresh lime juice, lovely guy running it. 10/10
From here you have a great view of the bridge.
The owner is super friendly and funny. He specially built a small “photo platform” on which you can sit and pose.
We only stocked up on Fanta/Sprite, but every other drink is also offered here.
The train arrives at 9: 15am, 11am, 12am.
On Friday only, the train arrives at 10: 10am and stays for 10-15 mins.
Amazing place with a close view to the nine arch bridge. Not very touristic. Make sure to come sometime earlier to enjoy a cup while the train comes.
Amazing milk tea and authentic green tea.
PS: The host is a great photographer!
The best place if you want to enjoy a cold drink and watch the train cross the famous 9 Arch bridge. Asanka and his family are more than amazing. Super helpful and friendly, they offer cold drinks and asanka can even help you out with great tips and tuktuk rides around Ella. More than recommended!
This cafe with its wonderful view and people hosting it are so nice! Thank you for the great time, the good chat and the delicious juice!
Hint: We came by tuktuk from the city. It's only a 3 minutes walk directly to the bridge from here.
A little gem of a place. Pull up a chair and look down on an uninterrupted view of nine arches bridge. A lovely kind, chatty and generous owner. You can get drinks and snacks here and he gave us biscuits with our coffee at no extra cost.
Great viewpoint and delicious fruit juices made of fresh fruits. There is also a clean toilet and the friendly owner offered to take photos of our group. He‘s also knowledgeable with regard to the train schedule. Thank you!:)
This is the most beautiful place ti enjoy the view of the amazing Nine Arche Bridge with a cool drink or a delicious tea. You should visit this place. It definitely worth it. The owner is very friendly and funny.
Great viewpoints. Great family team who run the place. The tea and fruit juice is super nice. Some of the tea and fruit grows in their own garden.
It is a short walk down (sometimes a bit steep) towards the bridge itself.
You should definitely go to this hidden gem! We walked past it on our way down to the bridge, when we ran into one of the family's sons. Run by this family, this is a wonderful place to have a refreshment and most of all, watch the trains pass the nine arches bridge.
Loved this place! ️
Nandana and his father run a small cafe with an amazing view over 9 arcs bridge. They were very welcoming and sweet, served us jackfruit seeds together with the coffee. Nandana was a great company, great kid doing an amazing job running Asanka cafe.
Might be a bit tricky to find:
We were coming from the bridge, on the other side from the tunnel, if bridge is behind you, go on your right. Straight away you will see two roads, take the one on the left and climb natural red earth stairs for another hundred meters or so and you will find the Asanka cafe.
Definitely worth visiting
Best of luck to owners of this place and thanks for nice conversation!
Easily gives you the best view of the Nine Arches Bridge! Namely because it's so quiet, we didn't see a single person there (we went early around 7-7.30am).
The man who runs the café was lovely and brought our tea out to us and he knows when the trains will be passing and gives you a heads-up! It's a very basic cafe but we had a really relaxed time watching everyone on the bridge sipping lovely tea. 500Rs for a shared pot.
It doesn't open til 7am officially but we were there a bit early and it was no problem. The track to the bridge only takes a few mins but as someone else said it's a bit steep and not paved so bring trainers! (Although I just about managed in Birkenstocks)
Such an amazing little Cafe to hang out and view the Nine Arch Bridge. We had some delicious tea, rotti, and chickpeas while we relaxed and had a peaceful morning. Great viewpoint and the owner gave us a little heads up when the train was coming by so we could be ready to watch and take pictures.
Nice place to take a coffee and tea while watching to the nine arch bridge. We got also some nice coconut bread and bananas at our coffee which was made just before and tasted amazing.
Amazing place! Amazing people! Amazing view! Amazing atmosphere! Amazing green tea! This is a must visit spot if you are in Ella.
A cafe with great views of the bridge. And the most important thing is that Asanka and his family are friendy and so lovely! We absolutely recommend it.
Really nice place with incredible views! We spend 2 hours there chatting with the owners, whom are super friendly! Buy the green and black tea, it comes from their own land:)
The friendliest couple run Asanka Cafe, inviting us in to take photos of the Nine Arch Bridge with no obligation to buy anything, the owner then showed us a shortcut path down to the bridge which although steep and rocky saved us a lot of time. With all this help we’ll we just had to buy something from them so got a fresh papaya juice to share.delicious. Honestly do yourself a favour and stop for awhile to enjoy the view and the hospitality.
Asanka and his younger brother are so sweet, funny and welcoming. Definetly enjoy a Drink or some Food at their Café and enjoy the stunning view from their Place! Really best Spot!
