Daban reviews
11 Daban Homestay in Ella offers a delightful stay with its attentive and accommodating owner. The balcony, providing a panoramic view of the forest for sunrise, adds a touch of serenity to the experience. The breakfast, fit for a king, ensures a hearty start to the day. Off-street parking enhances convenience, and the prime location adds to the overall appeal.
The accommodation surprises with a bathroom and toilet experience surpassing the usual standards. The owner's attention to detail is evident in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment. However, a few considerations merit attention. The neighborhood dogs occasionally interrupting sleep, while beyond the homestay's control, deserves mention for light sleepers. The pillows, with a very high profile, might not suit everyone's preference. In conclusion, Daban Homestay offers a charming retreat in Ella, marked by attentive service, breathtaking views, and luxurious breakfast. While minor considerations exist, the overall experience is enriched by the owner's hospitality and the homestay's favorable location.
Very pleasant place with a great view in the morning. You can see the monkeys in the trees and have a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast.
You can rent a scooter from the owner for a few rupees - we then explored everything that we would otherwise have paid dearly for (tours) very cheaply on the scooter. The accommodation is located further up - about 7-10 minutes by scooter/TukTuk, about 20-30 minutes on foot.
The owner is totally magical and polite.
English could definitely be better, but we are guests and not him.
Beautiful place. Near to Ella town. Can see some beautiful views from there. If you use the train can get down by Kithana ella Railway station and it's just 50 meters away.
Amount of water depends on the season.
Way down from the traintracks is steep and jungle like. At a certain point we were not able to continue as the path was completely covered with bush and plants.
Famous waterfall in Ella.locate in near Ella rock you can see this fall while hiking to Ella rock.top of the fall view is amazing.there is a railway bridge.
A very beautiful waterfall you will see when you travel to Ella rock. I didn't get any closer to the fall but I m sure you can make it through wild.
Do not visit this place. There is not a lot to see and it is so difficult to climb down and up. The woman who owns the land charges you 400 rupees and told us there was a road to climb down to but it's very dangerous climbing over the rocks and we got bitten by leeches!
It is about a 30-45min walk from the waterfall Road in Ella in the train Tracks untill you reach the entrance to the View Point. You have to Walk untill on the left Side comes the post with 166 3/4. Than a little Up the Tracks before you Go in the Bridge to your left Side you will finde the way to the Viewpoint. Best time to Go after it rained than the waterfall is a little more imoressive.
A nice place with a good view but not a spectacular waterfall. Good place to have a shower but nowhere to swim. Does require some climbing over rocks.
Even in the warmer period of the year where there wasn't much rain, the waterfalls is still a beautiful sight to behold. We walked down the hill to the base of the falls and we were not disappointed. The advantage of a lower rate of flow is that we could go all the way to the base of the falls. The rocky way to the base is worth scrambling over.
We met a local guy who showed us his photos taken in May 2018 when the flow rate of water was very high. The falls was magnificent!
The base of the falls can be accessed from both sides of the valley. One easy way of reaching the base is to start from the Kithaella (or Kitha Ella) train station. 50+ metres away from the station is a small path in the grass. You can seek help from the train station master to find this path. The short trek down to the base of the falls will take about 15 to 20 minutes.
