Ella Happy View

Good location right on the train line. Beautiful views of the valley and waterfalls.
This is also the shortest route (750m to the train station) into the city. It's quite normal in Sri Lanka to use this as a footpath.
The room itself is nice, the bathroom is just old and worn out. Functional, but that's it.

Nice and calm home stay in Ella for the reasonable price.clean rooms with attached washroom. Near to the railway station and town. Stunning view of Ella rock and a nice water fall. Nice experience for train lovers as the property is very close to the railway.worth for money.

A real gem in Ella, and we are really glad we found it. Very quiet and calm place, and yet just a short walk to city center by rail tracks. Also directly by the way to Ella rock.
Friendly and helpful owners, they even invited us to dinner in their home.
Breakfast with homegrown coffee was perfect!
Would 100% reccommend.

A short walk from the city centre, this place has an outstanding view of the mountains which can be enjoyed over breakfast or whilst practicing some yoga.
The owners greated us with some tea and biscuits, served us delicious breakfasts and loaned us a bike.
Rooms are basic but comfortable.
Would definitely recommend this place.

This small, lovely homestay has probably the best views in Ella. Located just a short ten minute walk from town along the railway line. We had two spotlessly clean a/c double rooms with balcony views over the valley, and for an occasional treat, the train would roll past a couple of times a day with us having a window seat. Heaps of fun. The family owners are a lovely couple who go out of their way to make you at home. Excellent local meals available morning and night. The gardens are stunning with jungle creatures virtually at your back door -mongoose, chameleon, monkeys etc. Excellent economical stay. We are Australian in our 60's, however this is suitable for budget travellers of any age.

We didn't stay the night but stopped for a coffee on the way back to ella after walking up ella rock. Amazing view from the veranda across ella gap and ella rock and right on the train tracks so you get to see the trains pass. The hosts gave us fresh coffee from their garden and showed us the bush the beans grew on and then the next batch drying out front and finally served us the freshly produced coffee! Also pointed out all their fruits growing in their garden- avocado, papaya, banana etc which you could buy. In our half an hour coffee stop we saw lizards loads of birds and monkeys. Couldn't recommend it enough on the way back from up the rock as it is really relaxing and just a short walk down the railway lines to town.

Amazing location. You see the whole view of Ella gap and Ella rock while having your delicious breakfast and fresh coffee and at night time you walk back by the railway lines with the fireflies. There is a road that brings you most of the way but walking on the tracks is a much easier way to find it.

Much nicer to stay somewhere like here with the beautiful view and short walk to town than stay in Ella which is surprisingly busy.

The hosts are soooo nice with a cute garden and the room is lovely!

Ella Happy View is a special place. It is in a perfect location on the railway track between Ella Rock and Nine Arch Bridges. The hosts Mr and Mrs Gunawansa are very kind hosts. Mrs Gunawansa makes beautiful curry. Their place is along the track from town and is perfect if you like peace and quiet, local culture, gardens and curry of course. Their place is the hub of the local area as Mr Gunawansa has a small shop.

I didn't want to leave

Although there is no menu choice what you get is fantastic, tasty home cooking with a wide selection of fresh and authentic dishes. Funny location by the railway line but a great view and away from the hustle and bustle of Ella town. Peaceful, private, friendly hosts and well worth a visit: 0)

Best place in Ella for a short stay.
Perfectly situated (away from the busy centre of town which is just a 5 min walk away) next to the railway track, with a "happy view" on the Ella Gap (Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak) and close to the 9 arches bridge. Your hosts are simply put wonderful and really sweet, making your stay as comfortable as you could possibly imagine!
Be sure to order breakfast and have dinner here. We couldn't really find a better chef in town and the fruits out of their garden are amazing.
The room itself is comfortable enough with a really good bed.
Only downside i can imagine is the train passing by early in the morning, but hey. You want to be at Little Adam's or Ella Rock to see the sunrise anyway, so shouldn't really bother you.

Wonderful little place to stop for a cup of coffee or tea on the hike up to Ella Rock. Didn't catch the man's name, but the coffee he serves is picked from his own garden.

Great little find along the railway track, just a short walk from the centre of Ella.
Nice room with beautiful view on the valley below. The family managing it doesn't speak much English, but they are really lovely and took good care of us.

Amazing guesthouse in Ella! The view of the hills and Ella Rock from the room and the terrace is overwhelmingly beautiful. It's also remarkably peaceful even though is so close from the city centre. The room is super nice and clean, with a mosquito net and shower with hot water. The owners are really nice and helpful, which makes the stay there even better. Breakfast is more on the pricey side but it is reaaaally worth it, as it includes fresh delicious fruit, samosas, eggs with toasted bread, tea or coffee and pancakes. The guesthouse can seem hard to find, mostly because is new not many people in town know it, but it's only 5 min from the Railway Station walking on the rails (locals and tourists walk there al the time as it is the path that takes to Ella Rock). Totally recomment it!
