Ornateview Hotel

Location is good but the other facilities and the cleanliness is not in a good condition. Hot water facilities weren’t working. Not worthy for the money

The only thing I did not like is the way towards the hotel.very narrow road and not developed.night time it will be very scary.

Great place, wonderfull people and great view. Don't mind not being in the next village to Ella. It's more than worth the extra 3 kilometers in a tuktuk.

We booked a suite here and while the room was quite small for a "suite", it had a beautiful view of the valley.
At first our driver had a hard time finding the hotel, so when you're close then call the hotel for instructions. maps is not reliable because it's missing a road.
It's a family run hotel with only 5 rooms and it's located 15 mins drive out of Ella

This place is great! It is a bit far out of town, but don't let that scare you away. The views are incredible, and the owner or his son will take you into town. A tuktuk ride back only costs 500LKR (about 3 dollars). The views alone are worth the distance. The breakfast is awesome and so is the dinner! Stay here! We (a couple) stayed at Ornate View for three nights. After four weeks of travelling around Sri Lanka this was by far the best place we have stayed. We had the balcony room which had an incredible 180 view of the hillsides of Ella. It was definitely worth waking up at 6am to watch the sunrise over the hills. We really liked the authentic and funky waterfall bathroom, the room was well equipped and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay (the room also had excellent WiFi). The hotel also sorted us a scooter to rent for the few days that we stayed there that was extremely handy.

The hotel manager and his staff (Danny the cook and Piumith) made us feel completely at home. They were extremely helpful, friendly and gave us a lot of good tips about Ella and the surroundings. We had many great conversations late into the evening with the staff. The food was by far the best we have had out of all the places that we have stayed. Danny is an extremely creative cook, he made us everyday a different tasty breakfast and dinner on the four days that we stayed.

Overall we had an amazing time there and we left the place feeling we had made great friends.

Lastly I highly recommend anybody traveling to Ella to stay in this lovely Hotel.

We had a fantastic holiday in this hotel. It's a amazing place which is so piece full. Very friendly staff and food is delicious and anything can order as we want.
We stayed two nights in different rooms. View is wordeful. In the morning surrounding mountains are so beautiful.
We hope to came again and again to this unforgettable place.
