Serene Homestay

This place is worth 10 stars. In the first stop, we planned our journey to ella at the last moment and we started our journey around 6 p.m. From Colombo. We didn't book a place before hand. We called several places and no one was willing to accept our check-in as we will be late to midnight of arrival. When I called Serene Villa, they were so welcoming and even greeted travel safe.when we arrived it was around 1 a.m. Even at that late time the owner and his wife were so welcoming and pleasant with the proud and iconic Sri Lankan Hospitable Smiles. They even asked how the trip was. They arranged The best Blend of ceylon tea even at that late night.we were planning to stay only one night, but we decided to stay here for the rest of our days.

This is not a resort or high end places in Ella, but there is no other place which can match with their hospitality. I would say they treat us as their family friends instead of their guests. Never had a lovely experience like this before anywhere in this world.

The Breakfast was marvelous with the Traditional homemade Sri Lankan dishes. Fruits were so so fresh that i felt the bananas and papaya was hand plucked.

This place is not in the town, but it's not far to reach the center of Ella, just 3 km away. The view is breathtaking.

I could write on and on about my experience. But U should come and experience this.

Most importantly they treat both Local and Foreigners the same manner, with the best of hospitality of Sri Lanka.

The best home stay I have ever seen. So much of hospitality from the family. The customer service is way beyond than we expected from them. They served us with the delicious authentic foods which is filled with so much love. Cannot expect much more than them. Aunty and auncle were so kindhearted. Room was super comfortable with the facilities what we are expecting in stay. Must try this place. Highly recommended

Lasanthi and Priyentha are wonderful hosts and the kindest people we met. The room was very well equipped and the lights, the floor, and other furniture was of a good quality - we didn't miss anything. The view from the balcony is beautiful, in the morning we could see monkeys jumping in the tree and in the evening we were watching the fireflies.
The apartment is close to the Kithalella trainstaion (10 min) from where you start a nice Hike to Ella Rock. The location is slightly away from the city centre, which we personally enjoyed because it is much more quiet and peaceful. We also rented a scooty and had much fun exploring the surroundings of Ella.
Lasanthi is a wonderful cook and makes a delicious breakfast and an even more excellent dinner
