The place has been relocated to the institute of bankers of Sri Lanka building in Elvitigala road. Had to go all the way here to find this out and then travel back to the currant location.

Give some lessons to your receptionists in certificate issuing counter to respect clients without humiliating and neglecting. They loudly laughing and chatting their private matters infront of their costomers. Some people can take those as rude behaviors. And that is unprofessional too.

Don't wait until they reply to your mail. You have to wait until they answer the phone and make an appointment

I am very happy with the service as I went there with a toddler and a infant. Very Professional and Organized, from the security to doctors everyone treats you so well, explains what is happening in detail. Staff is always looking forward to help while you are there to get it done.

Kids friendly, there is a nice feeding room with baby changing facilities as well as some toys outside where children can play.

Facility is very clean and maintained very well although on site parking is not available

I went up there today. The service was good. But the customer care was zero
A cold attitude was given to me by the staff members. Specially the one in counter number 3. She has to be taught how to be polite towards to people who are coming in. With her ignorant behaviour I felt very uneasy to continue with the other proceedings. I don't know her name. She was a tamil lady who's pregnant with a child. Only this was the issue. Please consider about this lady and teach her some manners please.very bad service disappointed about this reckless behaviours.

Very limited parking space. Infact none for general participants. Once one is inside, it is well conducted. The laboratory test area lacked basic cleaning tissues and hand wash detergent. The staff was courteous.

I made an appointment for medical for my Visa via email. They responded me over the phone and given me a sooner date. Instructions were so clear. Also the day before the medicals they called me back and checked whether am coming and teminded me the procedures to be done.
Appointment fixed for 8.30.
Process went soo smooth and quiet fast. Staff was so friendly and clear cut instructions given all the time. Place was clean.
By 9.35 my medicals was done. It costed LKR 52,080 for the general medical+chest X-ray. Only cash is accepted.

Why cant you people have a simple online booking system for medical test?
it is so frustrating to hold on to your phone calls, and no one answers.
It is so unprofessional and frustrating.
If you cannot handle the system, just hand over to some company who can do it
without inconveniencing clients.

Great place with no parking. If you going for appointment make sure go there at least hour before. It is very hard to find the parking spot in the area.

Medical for Australian Visa
Booking:
I read all the reviews before make an appointment. I called them through the English line 03 Oct 2022 around 8.50 AM. Less than 10 mins they answered. Nearest date was 10 Oct 2022 9.45 AM. So I booked that date. No hassle when booking according to my experience. But it may not be same for everyone.

Test Day:
Although the time was 9.45 AM I went there around 8.30AM. I didn't do that on purpose actually. My target was to go their around 9.30 AM but as I travel from far I was able to go there more earlier than I expected.
The person near the gate gave me a small paper to fill. Then I was directed to another lady she checked the appointment and marked her documents. Then they check your eye, weight, height, pressure and give you another paper. Submit all documents to another person there. She entered those to the computer and gave me a number. Also put a band to my hand with the same number. All this happened outside the building. Once you get the number only you will allowed to go inside.
I went inside and seated. Waited until they call my number. Went to the respective counter once they call my number and submitted all the documents. Then went for the photo and payment, came back to the same counter.
Next went to the sample room for urine test, x-ray room, and finally waited for doctor checkup. That's it!
It took only around 1 an half hour for me and my husband. We came out by 10 AM.
Documents: Passport, Passport copy, Vaccine card (I brought the white card given on the vaccination date), referral letters
Payment: Rs. 39,510 Per Person (Cash payments only)

Ok, right off the bat, IOM will not compare to the streamlined process of VFS. However, it wasn't a bad experience at all. All staff, from security officers right up to the physicians and everyone in-between were very helpful and generally friendly right throughout the process.

Here's how the Australian health assessment works:

1. Get a applicant detail form from security lady outside gate.

2. Check in with security inside the gate and tick name on list.

3. After checking name on list, you will be directed to fill out the applicant details form and take a seat until name is called out (Yes, this is an analogue process). Try and sit in front in the line of sight of the person calling names.

4. When called, you will be asked for the filled out form and passport. A numbered wrist band will be issued along with some other documentation for internal use. The detail form will also be returned to you. The number on your wrist will be your identification through the rest of the process.

5. Once your wrist tag is on, you will asked to have your weight, sight and blood pressure tested. This is just behind the station where your wrist band was issued. The results will be noted down on your detail form.

6. You will be asked to go through "Applicants Only" door, to an airconditioned room (Thank god) with seating. Here your number will called out (Yes.called out) to have your photograph taken.

7. After the photograph, watch the screens as an automated system will call out your number and counter number. This is the document check. At the counter you will be asked for your Passport, photocopy of passport, Covid Vaccination card, your personal details (phone number, email address and residential address) on a piece of paper.and your details form (I think, cant remember) You will be asked to sign 2 pages of a 3 page document. And you will be given 3 payment receipts (1 for you and 2 to cashier) and asked to make payment at cashier and to return to the same counter.

8. Make the payment at the cashier and return to the counter you were at previously. They will return your covid certificate and your passport. You will be asked to head to the sample room.

9. Head to sample room, don't wait to be called.you will be asked for your details form and then asked for a urine sample.once finished, remember to ask for the details form because this is needed at every step in the process.

10. Head to X-ray room, don't wait to be called. Hand over your details form. About 10 people taken at a time, so if the queue is full you will asked to wait outside the room until your NAME is called. (Yes called). When called, you will be asked to put your belongings into an unlockable locker and asked to put on a gown for the xray. There are about 5 changing rooms, once changed you can put your clothing into the locker. Wait for your NAME to be called, head into the xray room and have xray taken.once done, you will be given your details form and asked to wait outside for consultation.

11. Consultation. Watch the screens and listen for your number and assigned room. Once called (Automated voice), report to the consultation room. The doctor was friendly. For the examination you will be asked to remove clothing (Except for underwear) and put on a robe. Once ready you will be examined.afterwards, the doctor will tell you what to do next.

And that was basically it! Hope this will be helpful to those who are heading for the assessment.

I beg to differ from all the other reviews claiming that the emailing does not work for appointment booking. As I never called them. But sent an email for the given address for the country I am applying. (Country wise they have different addresses)
And as soon as I sent my email, I got an auto reply asking the specific information they need and that they will be contacting me within 3 days.
As mentioned, I waited 3 days and I got an appointment date a week ahead via email on the 3rd day. So I encourage anyone to try this method first. And as others claimed, on site parking is not available. And if you arrive like 1 hour before, they usually dont take you in. (At least that was what I experienced) But might change based on how crowded.
Again agree with other reviewers on the supportive nature of the staff. I was with a family of 5 with small kids. And they assisted us in every possible way. One more thing, they had water bottles to be used by applicants and water filter was also available. However, no place to consume food inside the testing areas as no canteen available. Nursing room for infants is there.
Within the area where you register they call out your name using an automated voice, directing you to go to the relevant counters. You will have to listen carefully as the voice might be not that clear.
Anyways, my family of 5 managed to complete the health assessments in 3.5 hours. Giving 5 stars considering the overall personal experience from appointment to completion of health test.

The normal or happy path of the service is pretty efficient. However my medical was deferred and the the process was not as smooth as I would wish. I was told that a nurse would contact me with more details - which never happened. Then after a number of unanswered calls and emails I went to the place with supplementary reports only to be turned around saying that I needed to complete some forms which they were supposed to send me via email. The decision on my visa was delayed at least by a week because of the incompetence shown by the IOM.

My general experience was positive. They are well organized and provide the services efficiently. The whole staff from the security guard to medical officers were cooperative.
IOM is responsive to emails as well. (Not for the appointment bookings but for the general information)

The place itself has a very positive atmosphere.

Many thanks to everyone who has written reviews previously. Those helped us in a great deal to get an idea as to how it works.

There is no parking available and it’s not easy to book an appointment. You have to wait in the line for a long time. Never give up the call, they are going to answer it for sure. But it’s time consuming.

Other than that, in my experience everything was good.
