AQUA Forno reviews
14 They allow smoking here which was a bit of a shock!
Edit after the sassy response from the owner - the 1 star is also for the burnt croissant and the super salty tuna. The only good thing was probably your gelato. No idea why your restaurant has 4.5 stars. You deserve 2 at best
We truly enjoyed our breakfast. The server was friendly and kind.
Food was delicious! Thank you!
Lovely vibe, juice and breakfast. The staff were really friendly and the service was great!
Just stopped off for breakfast here. Absolutely loved it! Lovely sunny terrace, really friendly and welcoming greeting. Enjoyed chatting to the owner about Sri Lanka:). And the food was delicious! The best breakfast we've had in Sri Lanka. Recommend the iced coffee too!
One of the few places in Sri Lanka to get real good bread. So nice, especially when you live here!
Their sandwiches are nice too, you can tell there is authentic Italian influence behind this business (and the other three in Galle Forte)
Loved our experience at AQUA forno. They have quite an interesting menuThe cafe has a welcoming vibe. Amazing food. The space is very well designed to feel like a small oasis in the middle of a bustling city. Service was very good ️
The place for those who likes fat heavy street food. We took focaccia margarita and it was not tasty at all. Just dough and fat in your mouth. Even tomatoes brought nothing to the whole taste of oil.
Also we took polpette with taste of nothing. Though sauces were good.
It is sad to pay over average price and go away hungry.
It’s a decent looking place, but the food however was overpriced for the awful food. The croissant was hard and stale, the scrambled eggs were dry and bland and the caprese was just disgraceful. It’s not very difficult to put together three ready-to-go ingredients (mozarella was dry, no olive oil, bread was stale).
Great little place for coffee and selection of quick street food. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff.
The place inside looks very lovely. The food is absolutely rubbish. You can see the so called “croissant” I think that was the worst in my life. Cappuccino was not good either. I paid for it a bit more then 6€. Overpriced and not eatable. Would definitely not recommend
I discovered this beautiful place while I was wandering around Galle. I had a brief stop for a light lunch and I had one papaya juice and I tried the panzerotti. They were absolutely delicious. Crispy outside, slightly chewy and incredibly light, with a yummy filling of tomato and melted cheese. Be careful! It is very, very hot, you will burn your tonge.
The place is very beautiful, with hanging plants everywhere and a chilled mood.
Perfectly situated with terrace seating. Good breakfast selection, had a light and fluffy croissant, great italian coffee, welcoming atmosphere and good staff.
We discovered this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and it was s true discovery.
The food was excellent, the homemade wholemeal bread absolutely delicious as was the Parmigiana filling.
The juices were amongst the best during our stay in Galle.
Excellent and attentive service.
I can highly recommend this as a way to make your stay in Galle even more special.
Greasy "Street food". The arancini were soggy. Arancini are not "risotto". Should be crunchy! I tried one out of three. The fried bread pieces with vegetables, from Salento were pieces of fried flour in oil. The seafood coppa was alright which came first. I ordered a panino with grilled eggplant and it turned out that it was a parmigiana (again fried and greasy). I decided to get up and leave.
I'm sorry for my bad review and I take full responsibility. My expectations were high, this is the truth. Frying crisp oil free food needs expertise, techniques, clean olive oil) not the olio di sansa nor the Virgin olive oil) and correct frying temperature.
N. B. I just read the owner's reply. Dear sir, I sincerely hope you apologize and delete your false theory regarding this matter. False accusations on my intentions to leave without paying is outrageous. I was asked to wait and I did! I could also reply to your suggestions but It's not worth effort. I prefer to read a good book!
Yours faithfully,
Patrizia.
