Ariyadasa Guest House

Pros: Good location and good breakfast.

Cons: The owner turned off the power several times. We asked the neighbors if there was any power interruptions and there was only one. So the rest were the owner's doing. At 5 AM the owner turned off the AC since there was separate electricity panel outside the room. We turned it on and few minutes later she turned off the power from the main control panel. Control panel was downstairs by the dining room and thats how we were able confirm it.

It was really perfect: location nearby train and bus stations, between Fort and New town, very clean and lovely helpfully owner. The room has air con and acces to a living room and terrasse as an appartement. Cannot be better!

Absolutely excellent and a wonderful host.

Points to improve:
- Shower could be better.
- Seperate toilet and shower is always good.
- Filtered (NOT BOTTLED) water to reduced plastic (I'd happily pay extra)
- Western breakfast not as good as Sri Lankan breakfast.

Things we loved:

- Helpful with holding bags after checkout

I made a booking for 1900 rupees per night with AC. After half of hour staying, I went to ask where is the remote for ac, and owner lady started to yell for me “it’s not included”. I try to say I was promised a room with AC, but she disagreed, didn’t listen at all, return the money, and kicked me out. It was the weirdest solution ever.

I made an exception and booked a room from the guy who recommended it from the railway station. He made a deal with me, and I can see the owner didn’t like the deal.

Room was ok with a good loc, but I can’t recommend to anyone.

Very nice host but wrong marked location (which i now corrected) made many guests not happy. We also are the at the beginning, luckily i got helped from a local to call and guide me there. So you can find Nayana house by:

- From the bus station go to Wakwella road, walk few minutes you saw the SDB bank, then walk forward a little more you can see a street shoes shop, beside him is a very small path to the house which they called the shortcut. The main entraince is from another road which more hard to guide. (My first three photos from the comment is for the location guide).

It's on very good location and valuable for the price, family run the host, she even made very late tea for us when asked. This area has many mosquito so she also prepared the anti mosquito liquid for you but need to ask to fill if it's not enough sometime.

Something need to mind:

1. Need some climb up the stairs to the room.
2. Wifi is fast, but maybe weak signal from the upstair room, using from the balcony no problem.
3. Shared bathroom which is real family house bathroom so dont expect it as a hotel.
4. Great breakfast, recommend to ask to do Sri Lankan breakfast if you like them. Tea also good.
5. Her brother helped to manage her listing on booking or airbnb so may hard to communicate with her on pre-visiting, you can ask some locals to help to call on arrival like i did, the people here are very nice.
6. There are two rooms, one is larger but still not chair at makeup table. But you can ask her to have one if you want.

Generally it would be very reasonable to stay within the location and price for a short stay. Hope you guys dont get confused like the guests from booking dot com.
