The hotel pluses:
Perfect place, a lot of tourist and a lot of beach bars, somedays live music.
Amazing view from room. Pool view straight to the beach. Amazing sunsets.
Hotel minuses:
Staf are not very friendly.
They do not let people bring their own drinks or food (in other hotels this will be allowed, no problem) in this hotel alot of problems.
The hotel is untidy and dirty.
Beach towels are collected after the day, not washed but dried, and given to customers the next morning.
Rooms are cleaning but In the roomsthe are damp at night. First night we was sleeping with mouses. A lot of mouses in the rooms. They have a lot of room with wall view (windows straight to the antohrer building wall, no light from windows)
In general, I understand that Asia has different standards and procedures, but the hygiene here is very deplorable. Bad breskfast. Bad service.
9;40 am the pool are still cleaning- this is not normal because everybodies wake up at 7am go breakfast and then you want to jump to the pool but.the staf are wery wery slownly. If you ask the towel- they bring it to you from 10-15 minutes. The pool are ready to swim about 10am.
The biggest hotelt minuses- bad rooms and weddings party.
2 weddings per day. Everyday local veddings or some b-days: When weddings in outside- nobodies swimming in the pool because the front of the pool are ceremony, photographers.
Before booking this hotel i was asked about wedding, and they told me that weddings are different area and do not disturbing any guests. But it is not true. The weddings a little bit disturbing.
The best thing in this kitel is great view and location.
Nothing more.

Hello everyone, I didn’t stay in this hotel, I just went to the pool to swim, the entrance costs 1000 rupees, the pool is clean, the hotel staff is very attentive and kind, the prices for the kitchen are average, the food is very tasty. They provide clean towels and a pool overlooking the sea.

Attended a wedding which was held there. The wedding hall was nice, had a nice seating area. But the food was terrible.

It's a nice place with a beautiful view point to the sea.
Friendly staff with good food stuff. Banquet hall also very good.

Stayed at Avenra hotel since we had to attend a wedding there.
The rooms were in bad state. Doors were broken, there were cob webs in the room, curtains were dirty and the toilets didn't look that great.
When we checked in to the hotel there was no one to greet. Bad service from the staff. The furniture at the reception looked so dirty.
The hotel definitely needs to be refurbished.
Nevertheless the wedding hall has been done up and looked good.

Loved the facilities in terms of the pool, Open beach area, access to shops and the general relaxed charming atmosphere in the lobby.
The room was extremely comfortable as well as the bed. It was in fact very difficult to get out of bed in the morning due to the comfortable feeling in the room. More over getting delivered the breakfast to the room was more easy.

In room, dining was so much nicer and food was delivered on time.good service from friendly staff. We had an amazing time. Definitely we’ll visit again.

Attend to a Wedding Function today, (02/08/2023), After having the lunch, asked for a glass of water from a waiter, 5 mins passed, 10 mins passed, same waiter came empty handed, asked for a glass of water again, sleepy waiter fellow, said ok, again, No water provided, is this the way you people treat your customers? Very bad practice, Food was also not good, never reccomand this place to another! SO DISSATISFIED ON THE SERVICE PROVIDED!

I had an awful experience at this hotel. The staff was rude and unprofessional. There were numerous issues during my stay, and the management failed to address them properly. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Find a better place to stay for a more pleasant experience.

Location was superb including the rooms and pool was really nice and perfect. However the food was average considering the portion taste and quality (We offered the set menus since it was off season). Service was not that bad.

Went to a wedding. Friendly and helpful staff. Good ambiance. Washrooms are well cleaned. Hall is nice and buffet is in a separate area. Food is not that much tasty though.

Visited this place during the evening tea time. Had hot chocolate & the taste was not that satisfying. Large place. Mostly used for wedding receptions. The outdoor seating area was not set up with fans which made it really uncomfortable to be there as it was so warm even on a heavy rainy day. Friendly staff.

Avenra is a nice hotel. Really nice attractive beach with hotel.

Posting this review while at the hotel. Booked a triple room on full board basis for LKR 27,000 per night. It’s not at all worth the price. The room is spacious, but not at all maintained. The walls are cracked, faded walls, and the worst thing is that there are plug points right by our heads when we sleep, which is actually very risky. The in-room telephone does not work and we had to get the hotline and call for room service. The TV has only three working channels, and that too the picture quality keeps dropping. The washroom is so tiny, you barely have space to move around even. Had only lunch upto now, and the food was pretty good. The food is probably the only good thing about the place right now. In terms of following Covid-19 Protocol, this place does nothing at all. No one took our temperature, no one to sanitize, our luggage weren’t sanitized either. At the buffet, no one was wearing face masks, nor were anyone provided with gloves when serving from the buffet. There were no staff members when serving the buffet either. Even the restaurant manager wasn’t wearing a face mask or even gloves until it was pointed out. It’s good we only booked for one night. Another night here would be absolutely dreadful. For LKR 27,000, there are plenty of hotels that offer much better service and rooms. Overall, I can only give 2/5, that too only because of the food. I would never come here again, nor would I recommend this place to anyone else. Being a person who has travelled to a lot of hotels across the country, this has to be down there among the worst. Avoid this place! Save your money.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed. Tiny and packed rooms and washrooms with broken lockers and doors. Based on their hotel policy charges applied for the drinking water even for full board packages. Customer service also not much friendly and management ignored the customer complains. Seems like complains from customers are recurring to them. Never recommend avenra beach for the visitors.

Rooms are clean and average sized but was vey old looking and not renovated. F&B Manager Mr vas was very helpful and and a kind person. Restorent staff is not trained and can give 1 out of 10. The glasses which we had for water in breakfast was with lipstick marks and not washed. Food quality is poor and not worth for money. Beside that pool and beach is super cool.

The worst hotel stay ever had. We booked this hotel on full board basis. Our reservation was made on 26th February 2021 for 5 rooms.

Regarding the room

- Very small room with an unpleasant atmosphere
- No television (Even a private hospital room provides a television)
- Had a really bad smell in the washroom
- Presence of Cockroaches inside the room and washroom. You can’t even sleep with the number of mosquitoes present in the room.
- Plug points and switches for the lights are located in very insecure place near the bed. There is a high probability of kids sticking their fingers inside those sockets as its just placed where the pillows are kept. You can’t even charge a phone with those sockets.
- Hot water is not available in the washroom
- Air conditioned Room
- Some bathroom fittings were broken and in one room door of the washroom could not be closed. No action was taken even though a complaint was made.

Buffet

- Food was good
- Variety is less compared to other hotels
- It is really difficult to serve food with the poor lighting for the dinner buffet. Missing name tags for some food items.
- Re-filling of food is very slow
- We were not served with water during the buffet time saying that tap water is not in good condition for consumption and provided us with bottled water charging LKR 150 per bottle having the marked price LKR 50 per bottle. I have been to so many hotels on Full Board Basis and it is the first time that we were charged for water for the buffet in a Full Board Package.

- Has a really nice pool view and beach view

Health Measures for COVID-19

- No sanitization process at the entrance. Only the temperature was checked
- An empty sanitizer was there at the entrance to the restaurant where the buffet was served
- No sanitization process in the restaurant where the buffet is served. I would not recommend this hotel during this pandemic situation as very less precautions taken against COVID-19. Guests are allowed to serve themselves with food.

Overall we had a really bad experience being there and really disappointed with the service provided. Never ever recommend this hotel for a vacation stay with the experience we had. Would be ideal for a wedding venue or for chilling out as per the other reviews. But surely not for a holiday stay by paying a lot for very little. Not worth for money.

Hotel management, specially Mr. Vass (F & B Manager), maintained a very friendly and good communication with us from the first day we visited the hotel. He was open to our questions at any time. Hotel staff were friendly, courteous and accommodating and provided great support during the event. Banquet hall of the hotel was magnificent and full of glamour. Good feedback on the food and beverage services.

Was fascinated by the beautiful beach, pool and the vicinity. Food was average.

Hotel management should focus on improving the room conditions. Rooms were not specious and not modern.

This hotel didnt follow covid 19 prevention guids.in wedding function buffet is open and guest can serve themselves, without mask and hand sanatization.hope no positive patient visit this event.

Good beach hotel located in Hikkaduwa. Nice interior designs and decorations. Delicious food and kind staff. Large Vehicle parking space available. Good for your any special occasion. Washroom facilities should be improved.
