Chinthas Villa is a great, modest and budget local place to stay for long or short term at this area. 5-10 min to closest surf spots, market and station. Staying with true local people who’s always open heart and welcome. Chintha, thanks you for all, it was always nice to talk with you)

Best tailor in town! And you can’t find a better deal, you can give him samples and he will make the same ones. And he speaks good English too

Me and my two friends spent an amazing few days at Chinthas guest house. Chinthas was very welcoming and ever so helpful. He gave us three bicycles and told us where to find the tea plantation (the bike ride was beautiful, about 30mins). The breakfast in the morning was amazing (fruits, yoghurt, toast, tea coffee, etc.).
Beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and spacious.

Thanks again Chinthas!

The best deal in lodging! Hot showers! Great breakfast! Large rooms! Central to everything! Fast WiFi, free filtered water, fresh towels, free bike rentals, and a lovely family! In my whole month of staying at various places, this one was by far the greatest, the best value, and the most hospitable. I extended my stay by several days!
Chintas, his wife and their son are really kind, generous people who will help you get to wherever you'd like go to, give you a ride downtown, or even pick you up in the middle of the night if you can't find a tuk tuk. They even gave me some of their dinner a few nights, and were kind enough to wash some of my laundry. They were very welcoming and respected my space (solitude is not commonly valued in Asia like it is in the US, and I've had trouble with other hosts).
Their home is extremely peaceful, being a short walk outside of downtown and the beaches. They have beautiful fruit trees in the yard and little shops line their streets. It's a short trip to historic Galle, the beautiful beaches of Unawatuna and Midigama, the popular area of Weligama, and Ahangama's famous stilt fishermen can be seen every day at the end of the street.
There's a sweet dog rescue down the street that you can get a tour at as well.
I highly, highly recommend staying with Chintas; you won't regret it.

Very nice family run guesthouse! Room is simple and clean, and well priced!
Breakfast is delicious and HUGE, you’re gonna be full until noon ;)
Chinthana is the most welcoming host I’ve ever met in Sri Lanka, always available to help. Also (very important, as a female solo traveller), he and his family are very respectful and easy-going, and made me feel always comfortable and secure.
I could use the bicycle for free, he got me a scooter for the cheapest rate and he also offered to take me anywhere I need in case I wouldn’t drive myself.
Away from the main road, set in a pretty quiet area, I absolutely recommend to stay here!

I stayed with Chintha and Yuwani for 3 nights and really enjoyed my stay with this very genuine and kind family. They did everything possible to make my stay comfortable, providing beautiful home cooked breakfasts, daily lifts to and from volunteering at Animal SOS Sri Lanka nearby and more. Their home is conveniently located on a main road that leads into Ahangama town, for quick travel to the beach and Animal SOS. The room is simple but comfortable, with ensuite, hot water, towel etc. It's a pleasure to travel, but a delight to spend time for wonderful locals, and here you can find this experience.

Amazing place! Chinthana is an amazing guy and his wife and son are ever so sweet.
There villa is beautiful and very well located between the city centre of Ahangama and many other beautiful sites (temples, tea plantation, jungle). And the room was just what I needed and expected, ie.comfortable, equiped and welcoming.

Quel endroit magnifique!

Host was so accommodating with transportation, laundry, making meals and taking me wherever I needed. I ran out of dental floss and he was kind enough to take me to a nearby pharmacy.
Host also knows the area super well and can give you great recommendations on prices and where to visit.

The room was spacious and comfortable. Not fancy but contains everything you need. Separate bathroom attached to the room was also spacious.

I was traveling alone and the host helped me feel safe and welcome.

Be careful guys.hes not a good person as you see him.he got bad intention on mind.last night he came to the room without even knocking and he had talked bad stuff with my foreign aunt while I wasn't there at the place.and the owner is tricky he tries to cheat on money and greedy for money.so I just wanna say be careful. And all the stories he says are all created by him.its not safe there.

Nicest owner ever, very welcoming and helpful. The place is simple and clean, ridiculously well priced too. A bit out of town so you need transport or gotta take the bus.

We had a wonderful time at Chinthas Place - first we wanted to stay just for one night to plan our next trip and endet up spending a whole week, because we felt like home. Chintha is a very warmhearted person and a super chilled host. He even offered to patch my pants because he used to be a tailor and he helped us to rent a scooter for the best price we had during our trip, so we where very flexible to get from A to B. Our room was basic but perfect for that price. The breakfast is really good, but we decided not to take it to get the room even a little cheaper (since we usually don't have breakfast anyway). Ahangama is a good place to explore the whole coast with all the nice spots (beaches for surfing, snorkelig, homemade food and relaxing).
We'll definitely come back - thanks for everything friend!

It was a very quietness and nice place. We had a big and delicious breakfast. There were available free bikes and a surf. Our room seems like a little appartement. Chintas, the staff is kindless and accomodating. We really recommand.
