coconut sambol reviews
56A cute little place close to the lighthouse. I came on a recommendation from a friend. Curry buffet was 2,300LKR, a little pricey but it is all you can eat. I personally didn't think the curries were that tasty, they were all lukewarm and some had too much of an intense flavour (overpowering rather than balanced). The sambol, rice, and one curry was delicious, the other three currriess were a bit disappointing. I've had much better rice and curry in Sri Lanka and for half the price. Go if you want to stuff your face but otherwise you can possibly find better quality elsewhere. Nice cosy atmosphere, staff were lovely!
Good food much EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE for a traditional sri lankan buffet. 2350LKN for 5 simple plates buffet
As a Sri Lankan, yes, it's hard to justify 1850rs on a rice and curry, but am I glad I took my family of 9 Sri Lankans (and 1 French) here. They were skeptical and wanted to go to Perera & Sons instead for rice cos it's 1/3 the price, but we convinced them that it'll be worth it. Everyone left with happy bellies and full! (Buffet). Traditional, authentic, and delicious. Even though we eat rice and curry 3X a day, it's never really like this.
Lovely traditional local buffet - all you can eat served in clay pots any plates. The menu keeps changing every meal depending on what’s local and fresh and chef Zam explains it all so well. We ate young jackfruit, leeks and beetroot and carrot-cabbage vegetable and organic chicken curry with rice. The food was fresh and excellent and we kept going back for more. Highly recommend to all in galle. The winner was the super fresh drinks - ginger beer and a cinnamon coconut milk- yummm!
Very tasty all you can eat curry. You will be welcomed by a very nice operator and after cooking you will be explained how the principle works. For 1850 you can get as much curry as you want, and there are 6 different curries. The non-alcoholic ginger beer also tastes good.
A fantastic idea to give many options so that you can try a bunch of new things. I always find it hard to eat spicy food so it was great for me to be able to try first before I dedicate on one dish. It was some of the best sweet curry I have hade. 5 stars for sure.
The food is AMAZING! Super impressed by the vegan options. There is so much flavor and thought in each dish. The chef is kind, the atmosphere is homey. One of the best places we’ve eaten at on the entire island.
Really enjoyed a great vegetarian all you can eat dinner for two here. Shout out to Rifkhan for being a very accomodating host and cooking up a feast
Lovely owner, delicious food and very relaxing. The food was so nutritious - would 100% return ️
I like first curry much. Sweet and sour a little bit spicy. The price is reasonable. Pumpkin and chicken also delicious.
Best food we have had in Sri Lanka. Delicious homemade curries and ginger beer. Very reasonable prices too.
The food was absolutely fantastic. If, the chef, was lovely. He talked us through all of the dishes and teh spices he used. The meal was all you can eat and the quality of the food was fantastic. The place was also absolutely spotless. He showed me the kitchen and it was tiny, it's amazing the good food that comes out of it and all the different dishes. The food is different each day and always fresh. I can't recommend it enough! Thanks for having us mate:)
If there was an option to give 10 stars, I would! Omg. Love love love. Greeted by lovely Ifu, who explained to me all the dishes they serve. First I eat by smell then by the look of the food and finally the taste. Amazing, outstanding! Mango curry was soooo delicious! For a foodie like me, this is one exceptional experience.
It's all you can eat buffet. I travelled for this food 30 min by bus, but I would have walked 1 hour if needed:) Oh, and homemade ginger beer- I ordered second, no need to explain much about that. Thank you Ifu, and thanks to the owner, we'll see you again ;)
You must try this place in Galle! Lovely homely place, delicious! And dishes change every day, but there's always at least 6 vegan dishes, and 1 meat dish (organic chicken). It's simple sri lankan dishes and help yourself style. The chef here is very knowledgable and chatted to us about the food & ingredients they use, showing us the pure jaggary he uses in the fruit curry (yum! You must try it if it's available). Their homemade ginger beer is also deliciously smooth and spicy, unlike any ginger drink I've had before.
Fantastic restaurant! You have to go!
Each curry is really fragrant and full of flavour.
The secret ginger beer is also wonderful.
Staff working there is really passionate about what he is doing.
Simply the best rice and curry that I had in 16 days in Sri Lanka.
Delicious selection of Sri Lanka food. Served buffet style so very quick! The staff were very friendly and the price was very reasonable
Yum!
Cute little cafe with delicious buffet style food - yummie rice with big choice of curries. Highly recommended!
And don't forget the home-made ginger beer
Super leckeres all you can eat Rice and Curry mit 5-7 verschieden Curry‘s.
This is really authentic spot. You better try home made ginger beer here while waiting for the main "dish". Still not a lot of chairs to occupy so better come a bit earlier for dinner.
I've eaten there 3 times in my 6 day visit to Galle Fort. All you can eat, best place for vegans like myself to eat delicious food for a reasonable price
