Hikks Villa

Amazing! We stayed for 15 nights and had the most amazing time, Sean the property manager could not have done more to help us, he's an excellent communicator in English and fanatastic manager! Danushka works at the villa and really makes the whole experience worthwhile, we had the most amazing Sri Lankan breakfasts, lunches and dinners, also a family BBQ and bonfire. I'd highly recommend this Villa, it feels like your own home during your stay, and the service is out of this world! Thank you to Sean, Danushka and Danushka's wonderful wife for making it such a wonderful experience.xxxx

It was a great place to hangout with family or friends, care taker Mr. Dhanushka is great and very flexible with the guests, he cook great food too, highly recommended

Villa is best for the vacation.caretaker and chef all done by one person. He is a good person. Can be arranged anything as your concern. But should be more concern about security. (doors) vehicle parking area is not inside the villa.it is located near.

Mr. Sean the owner/ manager didn’t give any proper details of the stay. We were asked to leave rudely at 10 am when the check out time is 12. I do not recommend this place at all. There are much better and safer places for people in Hikkaduwa. Sean also doesn’t respond to WhatsApp messages or anything when we asked him about this issue.

Beautifully villa with direct beach access. Area is perfect for sea bathing, during season. Rooms were clean, Villa was well equipped. Pool was excellent. Garden could use a little more landscaping, but it was clean and spacious. Concierge/Cook Dhanushka was amazing. He took care of us and was very attentive. Villa has 3 bedrooms with AC, but can easily fit 8 people. They have a generator onsite, so powercuts aren't an issue.

The villa is beautifully situated on the beach. There is a swimming pool in the well-kept garden. The sea is right behind the garden and very empty and not touristy. You can hear it all the time, day and night. Hikkaduwa was only a four-minute drive from the house and can be reached quickly. The villa is looked after by Dhanushka. He is very helpful and can prepare you a delicious meal. He is very knowledgeable about the area and has suggestions for activities.

TL;DR
Not one of the worst, but the worst place I have been to! Unless you like wasting money book another property.

All the discussion with the booking handler can be proved through WhatsApp screenshots.

1. There is barely any mobile reception (Carrier tested - Dialog, the largest carrier in Sri Lanka!) and the wifi offered is slower than dialup!
2. No functioning generator even though confirmation was given prior to the booking.
3. Only one person handling the property as the chef, cleaner etc.
4. The person handling the property who was also our chef, he didnt cater to our requirements and lied.
5. Was asked to check in late while being offered late check out, however we were forced to leave earlier than promised on the check out day.

More details,

While travelling to the property and being half way there we were asked to check in late if possible and would in return be given a late checkout (4 PM) on our day of departure. We agreed and killed about 2-3h idling around at the service center. On the day of checkout the booking handler called us and asked us to leave at 12 PM, after a lot of arguing we were able to convince him to give us time till 2 PM.

Due to the long power cuts in Sri Lanka, before making the reservation we checked if there was a generator for basic needs (lights/fans) and were given the confirmation. After reaching the property the caretaker told us that the generator was not functioning. When we contacted the booking handler he said he will fix or replace the generator, but nothing was done throughout our stay. It is a shame that the properties next to us had power during the power cut!

For a property of this size you need at least 2 people to maintain it, when we reached the property there was only one person who was in charge of everything including cooking, cleaning etc. After speaking to him we realized that he was the chef and there was no one else to help him around, we felt pretty bad for the chef because he had an issue with his leg and was limping.

We had provided the menu we wanted cooked 2 days before checking in as it was a requirement. After checking in the chef had no idea what we wanted and we provided the menu to him, no biggie. We asked him to certain brands (halal meat) from a supermarket that was just 100 meters from the property. The chef left and when he returned he told that that brands we asked for not available at that supermarket and that he will have to travel to Galle by Tuk to get them and that would cost Rs 1500. We were in the holiday mood so we agreed without checking the supermarket next door ourselves. The chef returned from Galle with the meat, but it was brought in a polythene bag so we had no way of identifying if the meat was halal. The next day we visited the supermarket next to us and noticed that they had multiple different brands of halal meat available, we had taken the chef with us and you could see the guilt on his face about having lied.

For one of the meals we had asked for a very simple local dish (egg hoppers), but the chef didnt know how to prepare it. Instead of asking us what to do about this, he bought food from outside about 3-4h before the meal and served it to us. This dish has to be served fresh or it doesnt taste good. Having your own chef doesnt make sense if this is the sort of service that is to be expected.

On the second day of our stay we wanted our rooms cleaned, but keeping in mind that only one person was handling everything we were considerate and asked the person in charge to provide us with fresh sheets and towels so we could clean the room on our own, but they didnt have extra sheets or towels!

The villa is beautifully located on the beach and spacious. There is a small but nice swimming pool in the well kept garden with a magical door. The ocean is at your fingertips. You can hear it all the time, during the day and at night, it was amazing. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet. You can enjoy your private pice of ocean, but if you need more people 20 min walking (5 min tuktuk) is enough. The villa is looked after by two nice guys who are very helpful and can prepare you a delicious meal, definitely enjoy it in the garden with an ocean view.

Though the land is small the place is buit spaciously and have easy access to the beach which is lovely. However the caretaker and the management ruined all the fun.
The blankets were full with either blood or rust marks and the caretaker refused to change them giving 1000 excuses. We had to use our own blankets to sleep.
Worst was when we booked the place they agreed verbally to let us checkout at 12.00 but in the morning the manager Lakshitha Mallikarachchi called and urged us to leave at 10.00 while some of us were still asleep. Therefore everyone had to rush in the morning. All the plans were ruined.

We were not even offered a simple cup of tea during our stay.

Access to the sea. Free parking for 1 car within the facility. Paid parking elsewhere for additional vehicles. Facing Galle Road. Friendly house keeper and cook. Mini pool. Air-conditioning. Eco friendly features such as solar powered electricity and water heating. Backyard. Need to pay more attention on child safety. Upstair rooms have balconies facing sea. Mini safes in rooms. Common area TV with all channel satellite connection. Free WiFi is functional.

A lovely 3 bedroom villa right on the beach. Loved everything about the place. With its own pool, you just don't wanna leave once inside. Jayantha and Nimal cook amazing food and took very good care of us. Would love to go back soon

We have had a wonderful holiday We generally enjoyed this villa which is spacious. Everything was really great Hikks Villa was a great. The rooms were excellent, very neat bathrooms and the beds were also very comfortable. Tastefully decorated, perfectly equipped, breathtaking sea view. Well-maintained swimming pool. Quiet location. Fantastic environment: wide choice of beaches in the area, Begur is a charming place, Service from Comfort Villa was great. We are also very satisfied with your services when booking the trip. We would like to go back already.

You have made our holiday feel like a dream. From our peaceful arrival to the day making us feel at home. You have taken care of everything and made our stay was wonderful from start to finish.

Good place. Parking space only for one vehicle and they will charge additional 200/- for extra vehicle.

A very personalized and great villa for friends and family for a perfect holiday.the rooms are clean and well equipped and maintained. Jayantha and Nihal are such lovely staff friendly and supportive.they made us feel like home.and the food was awsome.they prepared it as to our request.thank you Praveen for support.the whole experience was lovely and enjoyed for us all who was at Hikks villa

Great place for a relaxing getaway. The caretakers are really friendly and the food they cooked for ua was delicious too.

Really great place, mates & I stayed here for a few days in November. Perfectly maintained & you're provided with not one but two helpers who can also cook & BBQ for you!
