HOTEL THAI LANKA reviews
11 We traveled with a child and rented an apartment above the reception, a four-room apartment with a master bedroom. There is a kitchen, air conditioning in each bedroom.
Large terrace at the exit from the HF. The hotel also has a swimming pool, breakfast, if you ask the administrator named Manuka, he will help in any situation in which he can help.
It’s a 5-minute walk to the beach and on the way before the railway crossing, turn left and walk 70 meters, there will be a river with monitor lizards, and after another 100 meters, a forest with flying foxes.
On the corner of the main road there is a pizzeria cafe, tasty and cheaper than other cafes nearby.
Also near the port, the beach closes with a reef and swimming there is simply wonderful.
In general, we liked everything.
Value for money, don't expect Hyatt. Located in the depths, if not on a bike, then you will get tired of walking. The rooms are spacious, the linen is bearable, but the beds are without canopies, mosquitoes eat terribly. Close the doors and take the air conditioner remote control for 1000 rupees per day. The pool helps, but the water is stagnant. In the kitchen you can take plates, cutlery, kettle.
Good hotel for your money. The rooms are clean. The staff cleans and changes towels upon request. There are downsides, but it's all minor. Don't worry, you can go to the hotel safely.
Cons: Horrible rooms, half-rotten furniture (wardrobe, chair, bed), torn, stained bedding, it feels like it hasn't been renovated in 100 years, the plumbing is leaking, and yes) COCKROACHS.
Pros: the staff is friendly, they try to help with everything, the breakfast is not bad, the biggest plus is the pool and location (quiet, not far from all the action)
For the first time in Sri Lanka. I've only read good things about the country. I was traveling through a travel agency, in the words of my agent: “You’re not going to a hotel. ” Well, when it’s so hot outside that your skin is burning, where do you want to survive the heat in the room. I do not recommend this hotel. On the ground floor the rooms are large, but damp, the furniture is terrible and there is old dirt all around. The towels are terrible (thank God I took everything of my own, although the agent assured me that everything was included), there are no soap accessories, there is no TV, the air conditioner hangs, but you have to pay extra to earn it. You have to walk about 20 minutes to the sea. As for Sri Lanka itself, there are a lot of beggars who want to sell all sorts of rubbish, thinking that white people are stupid. Change is not given. Apart from the Indian Ocean, the nature around, I saw nothing of goodwill.
Worse than ever. There are no amenities. Terrible hotel
The hotel is quite old, but everything is working. Breakfast is offered and is quite good. There is Wi-Fi. Nice, deep enough and clean pool. Friendly staff.
This hotel is (relatively) expensive at booking, but I just came by and bargained for a good price for several nights. All rooms are really spacious, furniture is old but functional, bedsheets are clean. Pool is clean and deep. Some people stay there for several months.
Nevertheless we had an argue at our last hour in that place. Previous night one woman quarreled with her husband, maybe there was a police (we didn't hear anything) so she checked out and left with her husband in another hotel. And she offered us to stay in the room she payed for two more nights, left us a key. Since she had payed for single person non-ac room (same room as we had actually), we were ready to discuss a price difference. But owner insisted there was no way to stay at that room and we had to return a key. Ok, our stay was good, but next time I'll try to find another place in Hikkaduwa.
It isn't a nice place, but it is cheap. It isn't clean and pleas don't expect to much, you will be disappointed. It is kind of a ruin hotel.
This hotel looks pretty good in the photos however, it is probably the worst hotel l have booked. The rooms were dirty, very dusty that caused breathing difficulties, no hot water, toilet flushed sometimes & the bed sheets were a whole nowhere storey. No fridge or TV in yhe rooms. I looked in the kitchen to see a rat jump ofvthe dirty pots. This place can only be described as a disaster.we left after 2 nights because we could not stand it any longer. We lost money, but would rather move & they can keep the money. I really think the health authorities should inspect this hovel.
Gosh, we book for one night and I didn’t sleep in the whole night.room are soo smelly, there has been people smoking and drinking inside the room, too hot airconditioner is not working. I take a shower 2 times in the middle of the night gosh.
