Karu's Guest House

In 2017, I spent three days and nights with Mr. Karu and his family. I met him, by chance, at the train station in Colombo. We shared a coffee together there, as complete strangers. About 10 days later, I arrived at his doorstep and had a lovely time drinking fresh fruit juice, eating freshly caught fish they prepared, and drinking Arrack together in the evenings. It was, by far, the highlight of my trip. Him and his family are incredibly hospitable and kind.

Very clean and comfortable. Nice staff and good food. So close to the beach. Good air con.

Karu's family take such good care of everyone. The home cooking is amazing and the accomodation is all you need, if a little basic. Karu and his family will do everything to keep you safe and happy and can get some great deals on activities and onward travel arrangements. All this and opportunities to help with turtle conservation, get involved with the local school and give a little back to our fragile planet. Just wonderful!

The wonder of Sri lanka. We enjoyed stay in real sri lanka village with kindly and peaceful people. Great and quiet place with natural sandy unspoiled beach. Nice accommodation with probably best cooking in Sri lanka. We go there again, certainly!
