La Villa Unawatuna

Very, very many mosquitoes. Unfortunately the mosquito net doesn't go all the way to the ground so it's a bit pointless. Price performance but completely okay. Nice staff good breakfast

Vary nice Location & budgeted room rates. Very helpful & friendly owner. Beach is in walking distance. Highly recommended.

Beautiful terrace and welcoming hosts at first.i wanted to take a shower and i cleaned the floors of the bathroom a bit (dead insects and some other dirt - cleanliness should be ensured before guests arrive), and then this is what i saw.i left the place because the one room i was staying in had all these insects, and in the other room the fan didn’t work.the host did want to show me another room but i was really disgusted and just wanted to leave at that point.also, i didn’t get any of my money back (8.50USD), the owner explaining that “i’m not buying the place so i could just spend the night and leave tomorrow”. Also, they asked for me to pay the room as soon as i got there, which didn’t happen at any other accomodation.

*aircon was not even an option, when i asked the host said that there is a fan that can be used and it’s “not that hot” (31°C)

i do not recommend this place and i can now understand the bad reviews.i really didn’t want to write this at first but this is really not ok.unfortunately, i disagree with “you get what you paid for” because i’ve stayed at other well-placed accomodations (same price) in sri lanka and they were impeccable.i’m hoping that this review will motivate them to improve the conditions.

The rooms are budget friendly so is the food recommended to travel if you are on a very tight budget.

We loved our stay here. Friendly and helpful hosts, clean and comfy room with good AC and in a peaceful location set one road back from the busy beach street surrounded by lush trees and birds. We loved the terrace area and the home cooked dinner too!

We thought it was a good place to stay, very quiet and well presented. Although having to pay upfront on arrival for the 2 nights stay made us feel untrustworthy, obviously the owner has had a bad experience with people walking out without paying. The owner could be seen as overly helpful.
But we thought for the money it was well worth it. I had the best night sleep there.

Ants, greedy Host and broken AC

When we first saw the property we didn’t know, why so many people wrote bad reviews. Anyways, now we know better.

We had to pay the full price of 4 nights right after our arrival. Without showing us the room, the business owner wanted to have the money cash, which is really unprofessional and unusual. Furthermore he tried to convince us to book pricy tours that he organizes himself. The room was covered with ants, the AC didn’t work properly, the mosquito net had many holes and the business owner was rarely available for questions or problems. On day 3 he promised us, that a technician will show up to fix the issues with the AC, but nobody came. The rooms downstairs don’t have curtains, so the room will be enlightened by 6am. Sorry, but there is no positive thing that I could write about our stay at “La Villa”.

I had done booking through Makemytrip and paid online. When I arrived in villa they were not aware about make my trip only and they were not ready to accept my payment. I paid there again at villa. It was double for me. So they don't want to take any initiative n rectify Wat is the problem. They just told no even though they got an confirmation mail from Makemytrip. Never pay online u will loose ur money.
