Lara's Place Unawatuna

Lara's place is just an awesome and safe place (clean, astoning views and facilites) I would recommend all people coming to Unawatuna to meet Lara and learn more about Sri Lanka culture. Lara is such a friendly, smart and good person. Thanks for everything!

This place is so fantastic. Starting with an amazing breakfast and waking up to a amazing view on the ocean. Lara, the owner is just awesome, he can help you with getting ride to and from airport. I can’t stress enough how much of value this place offers. I will not be going to another hotel if I ever come to Sri Lanka

My week as a solo traveler at Lara‘s place was fantastic and relaxing. The room was clean, comfortable and cozy. The breakfast on the roof terrace varied and delicious. Lara was super helpful and provided me reliable tuk tuk drivers within 5 minutes. The environment is so varied and the distance to the beach pays off 1000 times over when you enjoy the morning and evening views of the sea. I can recommend everyone to make a longer stop at Lara’s place.

Lovely place, very friendly host, different tasty breakfast every day (pancakes, omelette, Sri Lankan) with fruits and / or fresh juices & tea, amazing views, clean and nice room - totally recommend!

We stayed in Lara’s for two nights and we absolutely loved it! We booked the room with the sea view and it was the most beautiful room we had over our two week trip. The breakfast was also a highlight, as you receive a different breakfast every morning. He serves a traditional breakfast with a lot of fruit which is amazing! The views are also incredible!

Great place to stay. Clean, big rooms and the views are amazing. The breakfast was the best we have had yet, it changes daily and is a mixture of western and Sri Lankan. Friendly and helpful hosts.

Bei Regen lädt sie zum Relaxen im Zimmer und auf dem Balkon ein.
Auch das Frühstück war ausreichend und lecker.

Lara's Place is run by a very warm family who are happy to assist with any requests.
The accommodation is well-maintained, situated in the countryside and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and the sea.
When it rains, it invites you to relax in the room and on the balcony.
The breakfast was also sufficient and delicious.
We can highly recommend a stay.

After a nearly endless journey in finding a nice, modern place we luckily found Lara‘s place.
The rooms and especially bathrooms are super nice, the view is stunning and the breakfast is gorgeous. You really get price for value here! We recommend the penthouse which has a private terrasse. You can also rent a scooter here which comes in handy as the buildings are a little bit higher up in the hills. With the Tuktuk/scooter down to the Beach is like 5m and 300 rupees which is totally fine.

Also, a special thanks to the host Lara and his family. They are really nice persons, very professional and customer oriented. They provide all you need and are always happy to help. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely stay at Lara‘s Place again, if we visit Unawatuna in the future.

Lovely place with great rooms and amazing food. We had the top floor and could see the ocean from a very large balcony. Smaller rooms also have good views but with a much smaller balcony. The host was really helpful and the breakfasts were the best we had in Sri Lanka. Real authentic Sri Lankan food freshly made in the breakfast area at the top floor; again with an amazing view. We did not enjoy the closest beach in Unawatuna but used Tuk Tuks to go to the Djungle Beach instead. It takes about 10 minutes and costs 500 LKR one way. The owner helped us book Tuk Tuks during our stay and it felt safe.

I never got to see the place, but we recieved several emails from the owner saying there was a place for us to stay, and then the next day when we were going to go to the place, she wrote to us and told us that there in fact was no place to stay! Worse than that, we had already paid.and when I asked for a refund she told us that we had to go through Trip advisors to get refunded, but when we went to trip advisors, they said we could not get refunded because of her strict cancellation policy! I'd stay away from this mess!
