Lighthouse Ahangama boutique hotel

It's the only experience you need when I'm South Sri Lanka, you would be missing out on quality of everything if you don't, the food, the rooftop bar and the garden are all gems

My home in Sri Lankan paradise.

This beach hotel is more than just a place to stay for me; it is a residence where every detail made me feel at home. The melody of the waves, the morning coffee in the garden, the comfort of the room with a view overlooking the ocean, and of course, the rooftop which offers a spectacle at every sunset. The staff creates a family atmosphere, where service and smiles become invitations to share moments of life.

This hotel is not just a place to stay, it is an experience in itself.

Was fantastic until we found out after we left that they had overcharged us by adding on drinks and food we didnt have.

Very disappointing end to an otherwise great place etc. I go to Ahangama a lot and would have stayed there again but this has put me off. Im sure the additional $50 or so dollars they made from me is worth losing a customer over.

The best sunset spot in ahangama, fantastic food, tasty cocktails with beautiful rooms overlooking the ocean. The team was very friendly and service was fantastic. A must visit for anyone looking at the south of Sri Lanka

Came here for sunset drinks and food! Was delicious, good drinks epic settling and such friendly people and dogs

Really really loved this place.

- the building itself is beautiful and is striking from the minute it hits the horizon
- the lawn area and the view out to see is second to none and is filled with comfortable seating for you to take it all in
- it's a great place to people watch

We managed to get there on a night where there was a DJ playing great tracks, which brought in all the backpackers.

The overall vibe was great and watching the sunset from the small portion of beach in front (they closed the roof for the event) was amazing.

It's not the cheapest spot. Something to keep in mind.

We absolutely loved staying at the Lighthouse - what a unique place!
The rooms are spacious and beautiful. It has a gorgeous garden to relax in right by the sea. The rooftop bar is great - amazing cocktails and sunset. The food is on another level - super delicious. Tarek and the rest of the staff were so friendly, attentive and caring. He helped us at giving recommendations for surf lessons and massage. Would 100% recommend it as a great place to stay!

Service with a smile and great views. The intuitive staff seem to know what I need each time I visit. Big fan of this place, especially for sunset!

Been wanting to come here for a while so made a special effort today however we were left extremely disappointed!

Ordered 2 smoothies from the downstairs bar and found a seat to watch the lovely view of the sea.
Before we knew it we realised we had been waiting 25 minutes for our drinks! So we went up to the 4 staff members behind the bar, who were busy chatting and laughing and clearly forgetting our drinks as no drinks were being made. We asked where our drinks were? The reply was yes yes yes with an eye roll NICE!
A sorry of a delay would have been better!

Waited another 5 minutes while we watched the staff blended our smoothies.
When we eventually received the drinks which were tasteless. Just felt like they had added water and turmeric. Obviously they added ginger because I found a lump of that at the bottom of my glass.

A long wait for a tasteless drink which was wasn’t worth the money and not the greatest customer service.

We visited here just for drinks and food on the rooftop. The views are incredible. Very lively, popular place for sunset drinks. Good food too.

Bad experience in cafe. Hard to read the menu, food is ok but nothing better than usual, but price is unusually high.

Ordered non-alcoholic drink. Waiter gave me cocktail with alcohol and tried to explain that it's not. Three of my friends tried and said that they feel alcohol. Waiter said we are wrong. Someone sick will die one day with that service.

It is safe to say " I never want to leave this place " the minute you step foot at Lighthouse.
The staff, Tarek & Solo were so welcoming and extremely generous and just beautiful.
Suddenly it felt like home with family specially with sultan the cat. The whole experience has switched my perspective on traveling in the best way!
The rooftop and garden views are incredible not to mention the music and the food and drinks.absolutely wonderful journey! Recommended big time, can't wait to go back.also if you are going for 6 days or less it's not enough:)

A little taste of paradise in ahangama. Whether you’re having a coffee by the sea in the beautiful garden, or jamming with a cocktail on the rooftop in the evening. Lighthouse is a stop worth making ️

Amazing view but the vibe is a bit odd. As a Sri Lankan, i wish this place had a vibe that catered more towards locals but it’s about 95% caucasian. Also I think there’s an ethical issue of building such a tall building right on the coastline.

The rooms, the stuff, the location is the best
Rooftop bar is a must for sunsets and dinner, the food is very good, try the hummus is the best around the area.
I felt that the people who run the place do it with passion and lots of love

Never had the chance to stay here but been a frequent visitor to their rooftop bar. And really, nothing can beat that view! Amazing to sit and watch the sun go down while surfers are trying their best to catch the last wave before dusk. Cocktails and food is great and so is the music! Great hosts and great staff!

I stayed at the Lighthouse for two weeks and it was one of the most magical places I've ever been. Tarek and his team are very friendly and always there if you need advice of any kind, the food is delicious, the rooms are clean and well furnished, the views are magnificent, the location is superb with a very nice surf sport right in front of your door and the vibes overall are just some of the reasons I like this place so much.

Went for sunset cocktails on the rooftop. What a view! Delish cocktails, lovely service, and amazing grilled shrimp. Expect to pay Western prices for it, but worth it.
