Ocean Dreams Hotel

Had an amazing stay at this hotel! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, as well as incredibly helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect. Not far from the beach and only a few minutes tuktuk ride to both Ahangama and Weligama. Would definitely recommend staying here!

The staff were really nice here so I feel bad to leave a bad review.

However, the hotel is really dated and in desperate need of renovation. Look at my attached photos. The AC only pumped hot air because the condenser is rusted away because it was so old it's right opposite the door, paint peeling off the roofs, holes and paint on the bed sheets etc etc. It doesn't look like the photos, and if you look at the other good reviews they are all left by locals so probably friends of the hotel owner?

If this was a lot cheaper then it would be ok, but we found a brand new and clean hotel for much less further down the road.

Please update the photos to show how the hotel actually looks it's very misleading.

Really love it?

We were only going to stay a week! However, the family who own this small, friendly hotel were so accommodating and genuinely lovely, that we stayed on. We rented a moped and used the hotel as our home. There were only a few other guests who came and went. The chef was amazing and made us special Sri Lankan curries and breakfast was always delicious. It's not your usual resort hotel, it's only 14 rooms, and possessed individuality and a rustic charm. Our bedroom was very large with a high ceiling, and on the balcony we could almost touch the monkeys, monitor lizards, sea eagles, and mongeese. The electric storms at night lit up the entire sky and ocean. We found unspoilt beaches within a mile. In short, we were at home at Ocean Dreams Hotel, and I will be going back. If you like something a little different and you're an independent traveller, please - be their guest.

Very nice place, comfortable and quiet! Beautiful grounds, and the friendly staff of the hotel leaves the desire to return!
