Royal Dutch Cafe reviews
10Faval offers an excellent service. He is fourth generation in the Royal Dutch Cafe. His knowledge on the history and culture of Galle Fort is excellent, as is his English. Definitely the best pot of plain ginger tea in Fort. His menu is simple but tasty, and much less expensive than the restaurants around the corner in Pedlar Street.
This authentic family run cafe has a brilliant menu including tasty cakes & the best tea. It's a great spot to sit on the terrace & watch life go by. There is also a shop in the main building with jewellery, clothes & souvenirs. Fazal offers really insightful walking tours around Galle, 7 generations of his family have lived in his house and in much of Galle so every street you turn will be another tale of his families life.
Great place with really good food. Waiting takes time but it is all home made cooking, very professionally, real Sri Lankan food made with love and care. And the owner is so friendly with lots of knowledge. I highly recommend this place!
Mr. Fazal serves delicious teas and coffees, but he also does great walking tours of Galle Fort. He takes his time and has many stories to tell. A personal and interesting experience, and also well priced. Highly recommended!
I really wanted to like this place. It looked like a place where the locals would hang out. Not the usual tourist place. I ordered a coffee, which was awful. I also ordered the egg and cheese Rotti. Again absolutely terrible. Overcooked and tasted like something from a fast-food restaurant. I am disappointed. Also, not cheap. 920 for that. Definitely a place to "miss" on your travels.
Slowly service, small portion and expensive. Additional I really dont like when staff take extra fee for service. Extra fee for waiter service must pays menager not customers!
Nice. Cozy place.
But how can a "Royal Dutch" place possibly be proud to say they are Halal?
Great cosy place with beautifull souvenier shop. They made us perfect Tea pot. The food was just So much delicious.
Hit or miss some meals very good others very ordinary, serve very slow, there are better places to eat in the fort.
Lovely little place to eat, I had the dhal curry with a chapati, very simple but very tasty! The shop looked cute too
