Royal Indigo Villa would have to be one of the most luxurious and wonderful hotels that we have ever stayed in.
Situated in an ideal position directly on the beach, with the surf literally at the back fence, it is a truly idyllic place.
It features spacious well appointed rooms, We even had our own private plunge pool in our ensuite. The villa has an interesting design and has beautiful historic local pieces and artefacts scattered around which gives it a homely feel that you often don’t see in other hotels.
All of the staff are excellent. Welcoming and totally efficient. The manager Rocky was able to cater for anything we required, and has a very engaging and personable manner.
Having overnight security was an unexpected bonus.
Meals are beautiful and really well prepared. We really enjoyed traditional Sri Lankan meals, particularly the breakfasts. The special bar snacks were another highlight.
One of the best features without doubt was the sea water infinity pool, with the entertaining area and grassed lawn. We certainly spent plenty of time around there.
The Villa is situated in a perfect area. There are plenty of bars around, plus lots of local cultural places to check out nearby. Unawatuna Beach is a very short tuk tuk ride away, with Galle not much further.
We fully recommend staying at Royal Indigo. It’s perfect for a family retreat or a group of friends getaway. We would love to come again one day.

Royal Indigo Villa is an absolute gem! We were a family of 6 and 2 kids and stayed there in July. It’s literally on the beach. The property is beautiful, and the rooms are very comfortable. The freshwater pool right in the middle of the Villa is the cherry on top, where we spent most of our time during our stay! The staff and absolutely wonderful led by Rocky the property manager and Prashanth the chef. No request was too big for them, and we were fed wonderful meals ranging from Sri Lankan to Italian. Rocky even obliged to take my 2 year old on a Tuk-Tuk joyride. Galle and Unawatuna towns are a short ride away and the staff will happily organise tuk-tuks at very reasonable prices. The host Stu was very responsive on WhatsApp at all times as well. We really hope to be able to stay here again, 4 nights just wasn’t enough!

Amazing stay!
The staff were very professional, frankly we felt like home! The food was great and the chef adapted to what we wanted. With a security person around, it was very secure and we felt super safe. The villa is heavenly. With the infinity pool, direct access to the Indian Ocean, very nice decor of the villa, comfortable rooms, we really enjoyed every moment and this exceeded our expectations. Moreover, the JBL speaker in the villa, the very cool beach swing just at the door of the villa, and the turtle visit at night just made our stay unforgettable. Rocky, the villa manager, became very quickly our friend, recommending and booking for us activities and always there for us smiling and doing everything to make our Lebanese crew of 6 people happy.
Thank you so much!

Villa is truly amazing. We stayed in the downstairs room which has its own plunge pool. The villa is impeccably maintained by the beautiful staff. Nothing ever too much trouble. They are always smiling and the food is incredible. The pool is a great
way of relaxing and refreshing anytime of the day. The beach adjacent to the villa offers many memorable sunsets and a great opportunity for meeting the local families. There is also a lovely rockpool at the end of the beach for snorkelling. We were truly treated like royalty and would reccomend this villa to anyone wanting to be spoilt. Thankyou to all the staff for a very memorable stay

Excellent!

Our family of 6, with 2 small children, spent almost 10 days in this villa in October 2022. The place was exactly what we were looking! The villa was superb. In terms of the accommodation, facilities and service.

The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped. All with delightful views of the ocean, right at the doorsteps. Powerful AC - which can be quite important. Mosquito nets over the beds. Great bathrooms. And so on.

The house is extremely spacious, beautiful designed, practical and welcoming. Beautiful furniture and artifacts - clearly designed by and for someone with great taste and deep connection with the place.

The facilities were perfect for the whole family. The pool is magnificent. It is salt water - so the kids could swim without goggles. In fact, they spent most of their time at the pool. The pool is just the right depth, length and depth. There is also a lovely garden, between the pool and the beach.

The proximity of the ocean to the villa could not be more magical. Hearing the waves crashing every day, smelling the salt air and walking out of the property straight into the ocean waves - pure perfection.

There is also a superb swing right outside of the villa, on the beach. The kids would spend every day swinging over the ocean. Amazing experience for all. The villa is also very close to swimming parts of the beach, swimming with turtles, feeding them and swimming around. A number of great restaurants are within walking distance (along the beach) from the villa. We did much of this.

The villa is also very well serviced. Breakfast included. And it was delightful. The chef is great. And can make whatever food we wanted. We also opted for half-board, with daily dinners made for us. We prefer local Sri Lanka food. So, had the most delightful authentic dinners made for us daily. With fresh seafood and produce.

The manager of the house is very helpful and professional. Can organize many experiences and point in the right direction.

There are also a number of locals who are, in one way or another, attached to the villa. Who act as tuktuk drivers, pick fresh coconuts right off the beach, provide information about local venues or just play with our kids. We bonded with 2 of them - and they made our experience so easy and enjoyable.

Highly recommend for anyone. We are already booked to come back in March 2023!

High end villa in an excellent location by the beach with very accomodating staff serving incredible food, easily the best on our trip to Sri Lanka. We visited the local food markets and had a cooking class with the staff here which was a highlight. The rooms, infinity pool and dining and relaxation areas were all fantastic.

Wow! What a location. This villa has a gorgeous pool overlooking the beach with a gate leading directly onto the sand. The infinity pool is large with a beautiful bar area at the end. The master bedroom is one of a kind, with walk out access to the pool and a private pool in the back.
There are many areas on the 3 floors for socialising and can accomodate families and large groups easily.
One of the best features of Royal Indigo Villa are the amazing staff. Thank you to Lakshman, Isuru, Janaka, Kavish, Jayantha and Sunil. You truly made our experience that much better and we had not a care in the world while we were there.

Highly recommend this place for a great vacation that truly is luxurious while showcasing Sri Lankan design.

Thanks!

I had a truly amazing stay. This brand-new villa made me feel like I was living in a Sri Lankan mansion dating back 50 years ago. In every corner there are beautiful old-style chairs, tables and furniture. Yet, the beautiful infinity pool with views towards the sea and the garden got me back to the 21st century. The experience of having the sea literally at the doorstep and listening to the waves gave me a sense of peacefulness and relaxation that is hard to describe. The rooms are very cosy and beautifully decorated and so are the common areas. The beds are big and comfortable. And the staff are attentive, helpful and warm. The chef Janaka made really good food! All in all, I had a wonderful time. Many thanks to the staff for making this experience awesome!

Fantastic and unique place. It is a modern villa filled with antique pieces that combines the traditional Sri Lankan style with newer 21st century designs. Each of its 3 floors is beautifully decorated with antique pieces everywhere. Its design somehow reminded me of the Balinese architecture with many open-air spaces, the use of wood in most parts of the villa and the open-air jacuzzi and stone shower in the main room. We loved its location. It’s right in front of the sea where there’s a beach and (fortunately) there are no tourists at all, which is rare in this part of Sri Lanka. A few meters away in the beach, we found baby turtles and eggs, and we helped them get into to the sea. It was a lovely experience! The swimming pool is very beautiful and it has filtered sea water, which is truly refreshing. The rooms and common areas are spacious and beautiful. The beds are big and comfortable, and the bathroom was very nice too. And last but not least, the staff were friendly and charming. If I come back to Unawatuna, I will definitely stay here again!

I've just spent a week at the Royal Indigo Villa and I can't recommend it highly enough. Everything was perfect from the absolute beachfront location to the wonderful and attentive staff who anticipated my every need. The actual villa is so luxurious that it is befitting of a king and queen; apart from having its' own chef, rooms serviced daily and tuk tuk drivers at your beck and call, the villa also boasts an infinity pool. On my return each morning from a walk through villages where I'd exchange pleasantries with locals, I would either swim in the Indian Ocean or dive into the pool, sometimes both! After a quick dry off, I'd sit down to a deliciously prepared breakfast of local fare and fresh fruit. This was the beginning of each day that as the day unfolded, progressively got better. The people, the location, the villa where no expense has been spared, made this holiday a truly memorable one. I feel fortunate to have had such an experience.

My first time to Sri Lanka, in fact first time ever in South East Asia. So was not sure what to expect. What a wonderful, adventure filled experience I have had. This country has welcomed me with open arms. This will be etched in my mind for sometime. The Royal Indigo Villa well what an amazing place to stay. It has everything you could ever want or need for a comfortable luxury stay. Firstly beachfront could not get any closer to the water. The sounds of the crashing waves are amazing. To go on a trek each morning through the local villages & then to come home to the view, breathtaking pool & a already prepared breakfast was the perfect start to any day. The pool was so refreshing could stay in it for hours but there was so much to get out to see & do.
The bedrooms had every comfort you needed each with comfy beds & own ensuite. Albeit very hot & humid each room equipped with aircon to make the sleeping conditions that bit more comfortable & the ones facing the ocean very romantic. All staff very friendly & attentive to every need. Felt extremely safe with the 24 hour security. Overall the experience has been amazing. Great location, stunning views, delicious food, unique culture & not to forget beautiful people. Could not have had a better stay anywhere. Thank you to all staff at the Royal Indigo Villa you have made my Sri Lankan experience one to never forget.

The villa itself was very spacious and absolutely beautiful, we all loved the pool and maybe have spent a lot of time in there!
