Sri Villas

Very tastefully decorated hotel. Beautiful beach right next to the hotel. The staff are very friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. The hotel is very small and therefore has a family touch. Each guest has a private dining area. Breakfast can be chosen and is freshly prepared. The rooms are spacious. Everything was very sustainable, no unnecessary plastic packaging or anything like that. The hotel is located on a street, so it's not always so quiet.

Beautiful boutique villa in Benthota, Sri Lanka. What there tonperform at an intimate destination birthday party. Good food with a very helpful service.

Just spent an idyllic 6 days at Sri Villas to cap off what had been a hectic previous 8 days exploring the country.

Amazing airy rooms, beautiful sea views (with attendant sunsets) and great sea swimming from a private beach make this an ideal place to chill and take stock. The food was excellent and varied. I had everything from traditional Sri Lankan curries to burgers and cleared every plate. Staff were attentive and friendly, always keen to enhance the experience.

I’d recommend the optional cookery class and Ayurvedic massage.

For an authentic taste of Sri Lanka and an opportunity to get away from the generic hotel chains, this is a great deal.

Our stay at Sri Villa was not part of our plan,
however I'm so glad that the circumstances ended us up there. We had a beautiful stay and exceptional experience. We were given the top 2 King bed rooms to accommodate us and our children with beautiful sea view. The villas are very beautiful and in a beautiful clear private beach with a beautiful sunset view.

The staff were so nice and attentive, they made us feel at home. They helped in arranging for my husband birthday party with beautiful decorations and wonderful environment. THANKS

The villa was kids friendly, they had baby cot, baby high chair with plastic cutlery. Their pool had was shallow on both ends with toddler pool in the middle and also they had beach toys.

We ate most of our meals at the villa. They always made sure to arrange the table with beautiful settings. Their food was nice especially the seafood platter and with reasonable price, my kids enjoyed it. And ofcourse the service of staff was excellent. The chef cooked for us anything we asked for even if its not on the menu.
On our last night, they arranged a beautiful dinner table for us beside the beach.

Some very minor improvements but doesnt effect our experience:
1. The shower floor is slippery. My kids fell twice, luckily they didn't get badly hurt.
2. The nuggets and fries were a bit hard, though the kids still ate it and loved it

Overall, it was a pleasant stay and would definitely book at Sri Villa next time I'm in Srilanka.

Massively dissapointing. Over promised & under delivered. Checked out early and found an alternative.

The price of staying at Sri Villas does not reflect the quality and level of service you would expect.
Whilst the rooms and building were really beautiful, stylish with good amenities, unfortunately after arriving you were pretty much left to your own devices. If you wanted a drink or food you had to wander around the hotel to find someone. This is especially annoying when you've bought a bottle of wine, that's helpfully kept in the fridge which you then can't access until you can find someone.
An on site restaurant is advertised, so on arrival we ordered a sandwich, a salad and 2 cokes. Why this took an hour and a half is still beyond us. Beyond laid back in our opinion.
For dinner we were requested to pre-order by 45mins (we gave 1 hour), it was a special occasion so we went big. Ordered the seafood platter, still turned up half an hour after the pre-order time and was the worst meal we had all holiday. All fish was overcooked, the crab was missing the whole body, only the claws were present with no means to crack them until asked. The additional lobster (paid extra) was basically an overcooked tail. We questioned whether any of this was fresh, still not sure.

Staff were so friendly but need to be more present. There's a balance between giving people their privacy and being attentive.
Soundproofed rooms - do not advertise this. It's not possible to block out the waves and road noise due to location of the property, which is fine and expected. However the kitchen noise downstairs and activity in the room next door is frustrating if you've expected a soundproofed room.
It would also be good on arrival to understand things like there's towels by the pool, where the toilets are and that there's water at the bar if you need it. No orientation was given as the impression made was that there would be sokeone on hand at all times.
We also thought it would have any been fair to mention that there was building work happening on site. So again, if your plan had been to rest up and relax on site at the pool on a lounger, you will be accompanied by the building work going on.

We would highly recommend for the staff to spend a night in this room (or any others) and ask yourself if you think the room is worth the money you are charging.

If you are advertising a restaurant on site the food really needs to improve. The idea of a guesthouse like this is that if you don't want to leave the grounds you have everything you need on site. For us we expected to be able to happily eat on site, however with the food and long wait we had to question this as we didn't want to spend so much of our few days here waiting for food or paying for bad food. We also didn't want to travel out for each meal, that was the point of staying at a place like this one.
None of the above is a reflection on the staff themselves, everyone was lovely.
If this was cheaper you wouldn't complain but for the price asked it is more than disappointing. This is why we left the hotel after one night and found alternative accommodation.

Superb view, great location, comfy overall. I rated 4 because food did not deserve a star. Each and every other aspect was exceptionally good.
Food was not consistent in quality since there were great dishes and unacceptable dishes both. Almost all the desserts were disappointing. But fruits saved the day.
Service and staff was great too. Ideal for a relaxing weekend away by the beach.

The property is stunning, the staff are polite and attentive, and the room we stayed in was great. However the food was very disappointing which really dampened our overall experience at Sri Villas.
We did our research prior to visiting and found all the reviews stating that the food at the villa was exceptional so naturally we had high expectations for our meals but ended up being extremely underwhelmed.
While my wife and I both enjoyed the Pumpkin Soup and Prawn Cocktail, all other dishes we had were less than average. The Prawn Wrap was extremely bland, and while the Spicy Calamari was nice it wasn’t the best I’ve had (considering the reviews I expected it to be much better). Also I personally found it was a bit unusual to be served just calamari without any sort of accompaniment as it was a main dish. Same for the wrap, perhaps a side of salad/ wedges would elevate the dish.
The Salmon and Pasta dishes we had for dinner were also far too basic and nothing that earns a raving review. Presentation of the dishes were nil.
Today’s breakfast was possibly the worst out of the lot. English breakfast consisted of two slices of bread that was too hard to chew and a poached egg that was over-boiled and two sausages that were fine. To say the dish looked and tasted dull would be an understatement. The same goes for the French Toast my wife had.
It saddens us to have to send this email as we truly thought the venue was beautiful and was looking forward to spending our first wedding anniversary there but we’re simply too disappointed with the food. To us the food adds significant value to any holiday experience as I’m sure it does for most others too so we thought it important to voice our honest feedback about our stay at your venue.

Beautiful villas with stylish, big rooms and common areas! Great pool! Delicious, varied food! In summary: Everything you need for a great, relaxing holiday! Highly recommend this place! You will have paradise view, royal service and beautiful tan. Food is the best which we had near this location (we were at Amal Villa, Osteria Romana, Beach Club, Dulvin and etc).

Paradise on earth! I have to admit I was slightly hesitant as there were some funky reviews from the past, but what made me give it a try were that those reviews were from some few years back and there were some that mentioned there is new management. I was working in Colombo and wanted a nice quiet weekend away with a great beach at my toes. This was exactly what I was looking for! I was so sad that I could only stay for the weekend. It is a a very well designed and extremely clean place. Air conditioning didn’t have that musty smell that you get a lot in the bigger hotels. View of the ocean from your room. And it’s like the waves were crashing at my door. It was so peaceful and beautiful! The pool was very clean and not murky at all. The staff were all very friendly. And don’t even get me started on the food which was marvellous. While I was there I had the spicy calamari which I would highly recommend. The breakfast bap was also super delicious. Tiny details made all the difference. The set up for the dinner table with flowers and candles etc. Your meals can be served on your balcony overlooking the sea or by the pool. The staff closed the blinds and turned on the air con before sunset, I think to prevent mosquitos from getting in (was a concern of mine since I am pregnant), and the small snack they brought up to my room before dinner time. I really loved this place and would love to come back!
