If you are looking for a place to have your dream wedding, Taj Bentota is no doubt the location to choose.
This is not just a hotel but an icon in the industry and it’s not just the beautiful location but it’s the staff that will make your experience so special.
I had my wedding at the Taj on December 14th 2023.
For the 8 months leading to my wedding, the staff and former general manager and current general manager at Taj were nothing but welcoming. I felt like home at Taj.
They catered to all my requests with open arms and ensured we had no stress over the function.
Special thanks to Mr Rizly and Mr Samantha for ensuring everything from the hotels end was beyond expectations.
Chef Mishra, not only supported us to fine tune our menu but ensured we had the most amazing spread.
Thank you Taj for making our special day worth it.

I liked the hotel and the beach, a very beautiful pool area with a gorgeous view of the ocean. Cozy, quiet hotel for couples. We only took breakfast - there was a sufficient choice of dishes, the food was delicious!

My stay at the Taj Bentota was nothing short of amzing, earning it a well-deserved five-star rating. It is situated near the Bentota Beach, the resort offered a escape with its less crowded environment, especially on the days we visited. The calmness of the place added a layer of serenity to our experience.
The beauty of the resort is further accentuated by its well-maintained garden, a perfect blend of natural charm and landscape. It provided a lovely backdrop for leisurely walks and relaxation. You can do surfing and there are some sports in the hotel as well.
Staff is really friendly and incredibly supportive, ensuring our stay was comfortable and memorable. This high standard of service extended to the room amenities as well. Our rooms were spacious and clean, and the thoughtful addition of complimentary snacks like fruits and sweets was a surprise.
The buffet was really good, offering a wide variety of dishes that catered to all tastes. From international cuisine to authentic Indian dishes and an impressive selection of seafood, every meal was a gastronomic delight.
In summary, the Taj Bentota Resort & Spa is a perfect blend of tranquility, luxury, and excellent service. It's an ideal choice for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with the promise of an unforgettable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it for a truly five-star stay.

We stayed for 2 nights. Food was Ok. The staff was very attentive to our needs, and the location is great. The rooms were spacious. The only thing negative about the rooms was that the bathroom was so small compared to other hotels we stayed in.hope that they will upgrade them too.

Amazing Beachfront Property with spectacular views of Indian Ocean in Bentota. The staff is very courteous and friendly. The rooms are large with all modern conveniences. The Food quality is superb with lots of options for indian vegetarian food. Chef Dalip Singh was very friendly and served us choicest indian food throughout our stay. Must stay in Taj Bentota if you are in Srilanka. Highly recommended.

Very good stay. Friendly staff full of smiles and courteous mannerisms. Good spread buffet three times a day. Best way to enjoy your quarantine when you reach Sri Lanka. Loved it.

This brief review with photos is only about the resort, cause if to talk about Sri-Lanka overall I could spend a few days, so now we’re talking about resort only.

My subjective rating considering all factors is 5. Had a great time. As you can see on the photos location and views are really beautiful.
The service is decent and the food is good though some was too spicy.
We’ve spend there 10 days from 1st till 10th of march 2021.

1. We had minor problems with our room. Safe was not working properly and to close the front door we had to kick it hard.
Ps. When I made a call to reception, they sent a guy in 10 minutes who fixed all this fast.

2. Had to be careful with the food though it’s really tasty, sometimes was too spicy and before eat something I recommend to ask staff first.
Ps. Food options is wide so we had no problem always to pick something else.

3. A big air conditioner from the kitchen had really loud noise and it bothered us a bit, because we wanted to hear the ocean and nature. But I forgive this little aspect though it can be crucial for someone.
Ps. Actually we asked if we can change the room and managers provided us with some different room options without additional pay so no issue at all.

4. Polite and attentive staff.
5. Some exotic animals such as giant lizard.
6. Magical ocean.
7. Comfortable room (resort has different room sizes with different comfort level which require different price accordingly). We had one of the most modest rooms which still had an ocean View.
8. Big shrimps which you can find at one of my photos were bought separately and costed around 8$ per 1 shrimp. They worth this price. They huge and tasty.

CONCLUSION:

My personal rating of this resort is 5, even considering minor flaws described above.
I think the most objective and fair will be 4, but I still give it 5 only because I spent there one of the best time in my life and to be honest, it’s impossible to always have everything perfect like in a fairy tale. Yes, resort is not super new, you can tell it, but it does not matter to me. These small flaws keep you alive and remind you that you you’re not in a dream, though sometimes I thought so.

Ps. Don’t forger to take anti mosquito spray before going to Sri-Lanka, you’ll need it, however at the resort area mosquitos were not very annoying. Maybe area is disinfected?

I recommend this resort particularly and Sri-Lanka overall.
It was a pleasure and I hope to come back here someday when corona stuff will be over

The beach is huge and empty, with plenty of spots to swim or surf. The food was delicious, seafood always on the menu as well as some traditional dishes. A lot of pineapples, papaya, and passion fruit.

The service was also very welcoming, all our requests were satisfied fast. Many rooms have a delightful sea view.

Definitely worth staying here again

One of the best hotels to stay in leisure. The hotel is very well set up and the view from the rooms are amazing.
The pool side area is a good spot to hang out in the evening with family and friends. The brunch is also served well with many varieties and the hospitality of the staff and management is excellent. Must stay at the hotel for a day to enjoy the in-hotel scenery and facilities.
Price is a little expensive but definitely worth it!

Had a great time at the hotel. Great place to relax and chill. It's Jiva Spa and Swimming pool is a MUST!

I was really disappointed by this hotel. The photos make the hotel seem much nicer than it really is. The beach was not nice at all. The ocean in front of the hotel was dark and murky and just not something you wanted to get into. People hassling you for surf lessons. It was not a place you wanted to be. So head to the pool, right? Well for such a large hotel it felt crowded most of the time. Children playing and screaming in it until late in the evening. Great if you have kids not so nice if you don't.

Also the room they gave us was old not like the photos online at all. My husband had to complain and we got a "newer" room like the photos show.

I was not feeling well so I ordered room service 5-6 times and it was like cafeteria food. Not terrible but nothing I want to eat ever again. Breakfast is a large spread but I felt like I was on a cruise. The dinner was pretty good but very overpriced and I felt like I was being forced to eat at a cafeteria.

This hotel is clean but it is not a getaway luxury hotel as it claims to be. I would say 1 night max is good here. And won't pay more than 100-120 euro a night max.

We actually checked out of the hotel early because there just wasn't anything to do there after 2 days. 1 day sightseeing in the area and that's it really.

Also I mention the heat because it was unbearable to go outside unless you were in the water. Forget about reading outside or walking around, people looked like they were about to faint after they came in from walking around the hotel. The humidity is so high it's like being in a sauna all day unless your acclimated to extreme heat and humidity.

Went in a Total off Season but till the Facility was well maintained and great service. The View is amazing from the activity area. Just the walk to the lower beach is little too much and hence not the best BEACH HOTEL but rest its amazing

Two lizards.one spider I found in my room and they are still hanging around.and all this I surprisingly witnessed in Taj.sub standard rooms.highly disappointed.

No words to describe.clean clear atmosphere.awesome food.excellent staff with good communication skills. Would like to visit again n again.

The service was quite poor, they have degraded over time in their service, their bar area on a Saturday night had only 2 staff and we were a group of 8 ordering drinks etc and their system just fell apart despite their manager saying I will give dedicted person.also we stayed for 4 nights and got fed up.of the same breakfast, no single variation or new stuff. I don't what happened to thier system but housekeeping didn't make our room
even till 4 pm after we returned for our day long trip.

Absolutely loved this hotel, wonderful location, fabulous staff, so friendly and happy and cant do enough for you, especially Sam in the Palm pool restaurant, excellent service from him always, he was brilliant and really stood out to us. The seaview from our balcony was stunning, food has been fab, we have absolutely loved Sri Lanka, so much to see and do and the hotel was the icing on the cake, we will definitely be back some day
