The Fortress Sri Lanka

What can I say, this was the best hotel out of the 4 we stayed in Sri Lanka. The staff are very welcoming and make your stay very comfortable. Mr Khan - chef at the restaurant made sure my family who are vegetarian were looked after really well. All the staff from the pool attendant to house keeping looked after us very well. Always happy to help with a smile. This was the best dinner buffet we had from all the hotels we stayed in. Keep up the good service

We came for Christmas Day. Paid a lot of money for our buffet. We were made to feel like second class citizens, we weren’t allowed the Wi-Fi code, and were told we couldn’t use the pool ‘incase the guests saw’. As people who work in the service industry we believe that paying customers are guests and should be valued. We do not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. Sri Lanka is a wonderful country full of friendly and generous people, sadly our trip to the Fortress did not live up to this. Very disappointing. The view is good but the attitude of the management needs a reset- don’t waste your money.

Amazing hotel. Good rooms, very spacious.food was very good. Staff is very courteous, and efficient. They put in that extra effort which makes guests feel welcome. I would love to stay here again.

A magnificent property with minimalist design - you are literally in a fortress trapped with the beautiful blue ocean on one side and long green lawns and handsome large trees on the other.

Luxurious suites with comfortable bed, bedding and lounges frame the ocean just for you. The bathroom takes your comfort to a new level with rain showers and a beautiful spa bath.

When you are tired of thrashing around the natural rock pool in the mighty ocean, you can take a dip in the fabulous blue pool that runs nearly the entirety of the property and don’t forget to chase the setting Sun on the finely sanded beach.

Delicious buffet breakfasts await, and an equally lavish ala-carte menu straddles East and West.

The long-tenured staff caps off a wonderful experience - it is the icing on this beautiful and hospitable property. Their smiles matched actions and their dedication shone.

Came year for first time since pandemic on Christmas Eve for a relaxed lunch. Asaila was very obliging in making our short visit memorable and the staff were lovely too. We enjoyed the cool welcome drink in the heat. Had fries with grilled fish - yum! I'm sure I'll return.

One of the best boutique hotels in the entire south coast. Loved everything about this place. The fortress room is huge. More like a suite with wooden flooring and outdoor garden.

The staff here are super efficient and friendly. The pools and beach is also nice. Best thing was the selection of food. Premium quality products and fresh. We enjoyed the sea food dinner buffet very much. Highly recommended.

We have just enjoyed a week at the Fortress hotel in an Ocean Room and have found all aspects of our stay fabulous. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly at all times. One reception lady even went out of her way to bring Aloe Vera to my room to help sooth my insect bites and I had wonderful foot reflexology with a gentleman therapist at the spa! Highly recommend The Fortress to anyone interested in a relaxing holiday!

We went in end July with the family on BnB. Room was really good and specious. So was the bathroom. There was a jacuzzi bath tub as well. Rooms had a slight dampness may be due to sea breeze. There was a beautiful sea view from the room and we were able to spot  a lot of turtles as well. Breakfast was a la  carte and we were able to order  Sri Lankan and Western style food as per our wish. Food was delicious and had sufficient portions. Nice garden and pool area to relax and spend some quality time. Staff was very supportive and friendly. I loved our stay and would go once again.

Great location with nice rooms. One of the most eyecatching pools in the southern coast hotels. Polite and helpful service. If you are a sea lover, this is the place.

We stayed here at the end of our Sri Lanka trip in August. It did not disappoint! We were in a beach view room, looked over the beach and pool from our balcony. The room was beautiful and had everything you could possibly need - all toiletries, rainfall shower, normal shower, free standing jacuzzi bath, pillow menu. We had laundry done here as we were heading to the Maldives as our next destination - highly recommend as the price was very reasonable (especially compared to the Maldives) and the service was amazing, very quick. We loved the food - we found there was a lot of choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the staff were so lovely. Definitely would recommend staying here!

We had a really nice and relaxing weekend at The Fortress Resort.one of the best places in down south. Rooms are very spacious, comfy and well maintained. The pool and the beach front are out of the world. It's so damn beautiful. Every staff member was really friendly and helpful and they offered a great hospitality. So satisfied with their service.

Nice spacious rooms with comfy beds and jacuzzi bath tubs.loved the big pool and the sauna.and breakfast was delicious. If you're wondering what room category to go with, I'd recommend you to go for an ocean view/ beach view one. A baby travelled with us and we were able to get baby food without any extra charges as well. The staff was extremely helpful.

Stayed at this place few months back and one of the most scenic hotel in South. Love the architectural design of there. We stayed in a room with a private pool and it was well cleaned and tidy. View was amazing. Child friendly hotel. Unfortunately I missed the chance to get a spa treatment from this place. Service and the food is top notch. Defineatly visit this place again ️

LOVE LOVE LOVE this hotel. We had such a fabulous stay here last weekend and we loved everything about it. The big spacious rooms, the endless pristine pools, the serene sandy beaches and most importantly the amazing massages at Spa Naturel were rejuvenating. Also worthy to mention that their staff is very friendly and accommodating. They provide a great service and ensure that all their guests are well taken care of. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely visit again.

This beautiful sea facing Hotel is designed like a fortress with modern amenities. As per the director of the facility, the place is meant to captivate guests. The rooms are comfortable, The restaurant is aesthetically located by the sea, and the food on offer is decent. But, the place is not accessible for persons with disabilities.
Accessibility score: two on five. The fortress is not accessible friendly to persons with blindness and persons using wheel chairs. Though it claims to be a five-star facility, there are no wraps for easy access. Rooms are also not designed in line with accessibility standards. Hotel staff are mostly friendly, but they are clearly not trained to deal with persons with disabilities. Most of them go quite or ignore you when you ask a question. If you are a person with disability, you might want to consider another place instead of this.
