The Mugatiya: Ahangama's Heritage Luxury Villa on Sri Lanka's South Coast

Amazing villa to stay with family and friends. We enjoyed our time at Mugatiya so much. The place is tastefully decorated, with plenty of space to relax and a big garden for the kids to play. Staff is fantastic and their food delicious!

Beautiful Villa about 1km from the ocean front. Sampath the caretaker/chef was super friendly and helpful. He arranged for scooters that allowed us to get arround the Ahengama, Welligama area. The food at the Mugatiya was scrumptious and Sampath and the team would ask us every day what we wanted to eat. The rooms are very comfortable and we had a relaxing vacation.

The only issue with the Mugatiya was the WiFi access was limited to the kitchen area (meaning most of my work was limited). I believe Sampath indicated they were looking to extend the WiFi. Nonetheless it was a great vacation.

Stayed here exactly one year ago. We booked the entire villa for our group of 11, including children and grandparents. The stay could not have been more relaxing. The villa has been designed beautifully in an amazing setting. The staff were super accommodative and made sure we had everything we needed. Can't wait to go back once travel opens up again.

Really an amazing place for a weekend getaway with family/friends or for long term stay. Facilities really worth the price. Very friendly staff, great food and welcoming. Ideal for nature lovers. Walking distance to the Galle road and a tuk tuk ride to Unawatuna, Galle and Mirissa. Easily accessible through the southern expressway.
Kitchen and washing facilities are available and also rooms are spacious with clean and modern furniture. Very well maintained by the staff. Loved the palce.

Wow! Staying at this place was the best decision of the trip so far.
We had such a nice and peaceful time enjoying the beautiful garden with great pool area as well as the comfy and spacious rooms. The staff was super friendly, and the food was fantastic, too!
I will definitely come back!

Great place to stay. Perfectly styled with all the facilities you might need, next too many nice villages, fields and beaches. Tasty breakfast and super friendly staff. It was also the only place in Sri Lanka Where we slept peacefully, without any noise around

Really enjoyed my stay with my family at Mugatiya. Close to beach, great pool, and we really enjoyed the food! Hope my parents take me back there soon.

I did not stay as the place was not open yet. But it looked amazing from the road so we went to see and they let us look around. It's a really amazing restoration of an old house that was there on the hill with views over the padi. The whole place is brand new and they were finishing the landscaping. Next time!
