The River House

We booked The river house hotel for our honeymoon tour and we select the Walawe suite. Which is located separate to the main premises with huge and beautifull garden and face to the madu river. It was truly amazing place bleded with peacefull and relaxing atmosphere.

Mr Lasantha is the manager of this place and he was very friendly and helpful person. Also the staff is so attentive to our needs.

Foods are delicious and mouth watering. You can choose the meals from their set menus as per your favouration.

This suite has private pool with jacuzzi and ayurvedic ammentities. Also they have beautiful common pool.

Great place to relax with calm environment. Food is also very good and tasty, but variety of food can be improved (Can improve the western breakfast). The overall experience is very satisfying and great.

The service was fabulous! The rooms were super unique and superb views in a beautiful river view property! The managers and all the staff were very polite and well trained incredibly honest and went out of their way to meet our expectations and to be as perfect as possible! One thing did sit out my friends and I all noticed that the sue cheff is a better cook and understands flavors and orders better! Either ways food was good sue chef did better! And Thiwanka the assistant manager was the best he was a bundle of joy does his part and more and extremely well!

We were looking for a place to have a peaceful holiday. We are glad to find The River House which we never knew before. It was a fantastic holiday with great memories. Surrounding was absolutely amazing. Having a friendly crew with great hospitality. Food was superb. Best place to have a holiday with your family members away from busy environment. And also we had interesting boat safari with knowledge along the Madhu River.

A beautiful and calm place located near famous Madhu river. It contains five spacious villas equipped with both modern and traditional furniture and equipment. Staff is supportive and ready to provide your needs anytime. Food is ok but need some improvements to match with 5 star quality. It is highly recommended for weekend getaways and peaceful vacations.

Excellent place to stay around the Madu River. I have stayed two times. A calm place avoids the disturbing noises from the roads and town. Easy access from the Galle road. The rooms are spacious. All the villas have high level privacy. Outdoor Jacuzzi is a icon here. Food is in a menu but it is a delicious four course. There is a view point near the deck overseas the Madu River. Sanajaya, the operations manager is very helpful all the time. The villa was designed by Jeoffery Bawa. If someone is looking for a calm and quiet in the nature, this is perfect in the down south.

If You Want A Place to Stay Quiet & Relax Then This Is The Best Place to Be. Food Was Good. Better Have Locks For The Bathroom Though.

Perfect place to stay away from noisy towns. Quiet and beautiful environment. Rooms with privacy qnd ample of space. Tasty foods and friendly staff but no buffet is available. Menus are there to select what ever we preferred. Hotel entrance sub road is narrow. Recommended for a calm and quiet vacation.

Perfect hideout in down south. Located right next to the river and small luxury property for a quality family time. We got an upgrade for their plunge pool suite and it was extremely worth for what you pay. Very spacious rooms and staff was extremely supportive.

Beautiful boutique hotel. It was managed by Asia leisure when we went. The staff was very friendly. Stayed at the Menik room and it was so relaxing. Can even go paddling down in the river as well. Food was the highlight. Suggest you try the sri lankan food. Room was very clean and spacious.

This hotel is located at beautiful river banks of the Madhu River. There is a big garden surrounded by the suites and varieties of birds we can see. Also you can enjoy the Madhu river boat ride. Specially Sri Lanka rice and curries were very delicious including all the foods.

Good hotel. Only 5 rooms. No more crude. Facing to the Madu river. You may have many activities if you stay there. Fish spa, boat rides. Nice foods.

Best place to stay near Balapitiya

A small retreat with just 5 suites surrounded by lots of nature. Perfect place to just relax, watching birds and animals and swimming in the amazing pool surrounded by palm trees and nature.

If you easily get bored this is not the right place for you but if you want a quiet and calm place without much people and much to do this is perfect.

It was like staying at home. Such a friendly environment and place. A small place with 5 or 6 suites near the Madu river. The main thing I love the most was feasibility. No hard times, we can have the meal when ever we want. So relaxing place with so much freedom. Staff is so friendly and so helpful. Tasty foods
I'd love if the bathroom is bit more luxurious with modern items. And you really need a head rest for the bed.
Other than everything is just perfect.
