Canaya Boutique Villa in Galle, Sri Lanka is an absolute GEM!
From the moment we stepped our foot onto this property, we're enveloped in the sense of tranquility and serenity. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this hidden oasis provides the perfect escape from your everyday life.

One of the highlights of the villa will be definitely its swimming pool and the whole setup. With it's refreshing waters and picturesque surroundings, we found ourselves spending countless hours lounging by the pool or taking a dip in it's very refreshing waters, especially after whole days out. It was the ultimate relaxation heaven, and the perfect spot to unwind and recharge.

Another amazing feature of Canaya is the proximity to the local beaches, just a short walk away through the forestly junglish beaten path, we were able to sink ourselves into the soft sand and soak up the beauty of the Indian Ocean. The nearby beaches are truly picturesque, offering a peaceful retreat for sunbathers and ocean enthusiasts alike.

If you are looking to explore local attractions, the town of Galle is a stone throw away.
The owners of Canaya Boutique Villa were extremely attentive and helpful, I wish that people in other parts of the tourism industry and not only - could learn from Asanga (the amazing owner of the Canaya, and happy father of 3 little kids) what Customer Service should look like.
The owners were providing us guidance and recommendations on the best things to see and do in Galle and surroundings. From the historic Galle Fort to the bustling markets and charming streets, there was never a dull moment exploring their home town.

But what truly sets Canaya apart from other accommodations is the exceptional hospitality of the Sri Lankan owners. From the moment we arrived, they made it their mission to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. They were attentive to our needs, always ready with a warm smile and a genuine desire to make us feel at home - and so we did.
We even cooked the Christmas Eve dinner together, and enjoyed it with other other guests and some of their friends.

Sleeping.
Guys the beds in the villa were an absolute dream to sleep on, each night we would sink into a cloud of comfort, drifting off to sleep amidst the soothing sounds of nature. The owners had thoughtfully provided all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay.

Speaking of nature, the sounds of the surrounding forest were a symphony to our ears. We've lost count of the different species of birds we encountered, not to mention the flying foxes (the massive bats famous to the Northern Queensland Australia), monitor lizards, other reptiles, and the beautiful peacocks (while chilling by the pool).
Each morning we would wake up to the melodious chirping of birds and squirrels, creating a peaceful ambiance that only can be found in the heart of nature. And every night, a mesmerizing firefly show would light up the night sky and the whole garden, providing a magical experience that we will never forget.

In conclusion, our 9 night stay (supposed to be shorter but we extended it) at Canaya Boutique Villa was a holiday to dream about. The combination of the tranquil surroundings, swimming pool in lush green scenery. Proximity to the attractions of Galle - you have to experience it by yourself to understand what we are talking about.

We don’t understand how this place has a superb rating.
The location is rather bad. No internet, no bin in the bathroom or room, broken lights, broken telly, cracked glass, dirty mirror, snail in the bathroom. Swimming pool filthy, white plastic deckchairs green with mould.
On a last day electricity went so no fan.
We were very disappointed with this place as it looks rather nice in the pictures.
Customer service so so.
We would not recommend this place. It is better to pay extra and get a room in galle fort which is very nice with all the restaurants and cafés and small shops.

The person in charge was rude. When I complained a room not being up to standard, he did not respond well and said I have no right to say such a thing as a customer. He dealt in a very unprofessional manner. He apologised the next day for his behaviour.

No WiFi.

The pool was not cleaned properly. Was cleaned after we requested.

Poor road to get to the location.

The food was good. Service was normal

Disgusting place which is not recommending at all. They don’t respect customers and behave with very bad attitudes. So called owner thinks that he is millionaire and can run the hotel without any guest.

The place is amazing. Loved the atmosphere but the staff was not friendly. We were over charged for the breakfast, in simple words he charges 6000LKR for a bread and 20 string hoppers.

We rented a villa in February 2022 for $2500. This is a high price, it is in a neglected state, there is no cleaning, the pool is not cleaned, there are a lot of animals and insects on the territory. For this amount, you can rent a villa with good service in a better time. I strongly advise against living there. 

The owner of the villa promised that everything would be included: cleaning the territory, rooms, cleaning the pool. He promised to come 2-3 times a week and clean up the territory, but he came 1 or at most twice a week, it wasn't enough, we lived in mud.

Cleaning
In a month, I changed the bed linen only twice and only in two rooms out of four. Although he promised to change it once a week.
The rooms were not cleaned, the floors were not washed, there was no cleaning. We were also asked to completely put all the things in our suitcases before cleaning, and in the end only the bed linen was changed.

Conveniences
Wi-Fi only worked for one week. The rest of the time he did not work, because the owner of the villa regretted the money and did not want to pay for three weeks, although we asked him. 
The owner of the villa promised us every day that he would bring the sunbeds tomorrow, but he brought them on the last day. He promised to fix the washing machine, but he didn't fix it, we had to pay for laundry services.
Upon arrival, we had a torn hammock, we asked to change it and only 10 days later he brought us a new hammock, although he promised within 3 days.
If you do not have light in the villa, then ask the owner for a generator. He is very greedy and did not want to give it to us so that we would not waste electricity.

Kitchen
The kitchen is terrible. The furniture is broken. There are a lot of insects in the kitchen: cockroaches, ants, lizards, flies, squirrels. The dishes were dirty when we arrived. The pans and pans are in terrible condition, we had to buy our own, since it is impossible to cook on them.

Swimming pool
We couldn't swim in the pool because he cleaned it 1-2 times a week, it wasn't enough, although he promised to clean it 2-3 times a week.

Animals
On the second floor there is a dog that yells in the morning. The dog is constantly hungry, the owner does not feed her. A peacock lives on the territory, which screams in the morning.
The territory was also rarely cleaned 1-2 times a week. It wasn't enough. There are a lot of animals on the territory: monkeys, squirrels, peacocks, who dragged garbage all over the territory.

The owner is very lazy, like all the people. He lies all the time, he can't be trusted. Promises and does not.
In general, for such a large sum, there was a terrible service and a terrible house. In March 2022, we rented a house for $ 1400, a servant lives here and cleans every day. I strongly advise you not to move into that house.

If someone go with bunch of friends to hangout there, keep eye on everything out there. They’ll charge for each and everything. And the way they treated to their customers not up to the level!

Overall Great Place to relax! Foods, rooms were good enough.

Lovely calm place. Host Mr Asanga is very helpful. Full of green and best hideout in the area.

Lovely stay found on Airbnb. While not hot water, there’s AC in 2 of the 4 bedrooms, and fans in all of them (we rented the whole place). WiFi available, fantastic location set in a jungle area just 5 minutes from Fort Galle.

Asanga is a phenomenal host and went above and beyond, which made our stay perfect.

Really nice and beautiful place to stay. Fairly basic and rustic, no hot water but had fans and aircon. It is abit off the main road and not so easy to get transport. But overall we really enjoyed our stay. Very good value for money.

Secluded place from the town. Have to travel down a dirt track to reach the place. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Quite spacious as well. Property has a small garden as well. Not many facilities but as described. The host is very helpful. Constantly checked on us to make sure everything was okay. Overall good place for a stay if you don't need a lot of facilities.

Honestly one of the best holidays. The villa was lovely and clean. Just as the pictures showed. We were very pleased. Villa Canaya was so helpful and the representative was lovely and always happy to help. Checked on us to make sure all was well. I can't fault them and will definitely use them again & recommend them.

Newly built villa. But service is awful.we had a bad experience. So far to city center and difficult to search place.
