Wijaya Beach reviews
35Pizza is really bomb, and other dishes are worthy. However, be careful and do not relax, with a polite smile and cordiality they will not miss the opportunity to cheat you for a couple of thousand rupees, then, alas, do not prove anything. Ps: the turtles there on the beach are simply unrealistically huge and tame, but it’s a thrill if you come to chat with them at 6 in the morning, when it’s quiet and calm. During the day, there is a powerful stream of smelly sewage right next to the vacationers right into the sea. Such a.
Visited this place 2 times within the week. Good food even though it was a limited menu. Enjoyed the pizza and the tuna which was fresh.
We've ordered a seafood pizza and a lemon and ginger calamari. And they were tasty. The restaurant terrace is a picturesque viewpoint, need to mention. Recommend this place.
Excellent pizzas and cocktails. The calamari meal could do with a bit more than 5 pieces. The new done up rooms are excellent but I would avoid room number 7 as that wasn’t up to the mark. Friendly and helpful staff.
We had high hopes on their pizza after reading so many good reviews, but honestly there was no such zing to us. It was thin crust, less oily, but not delicious! We ordered the sea food pizza and i felt for the price it lacked the amount of pieces. The lime juice was average and their mixed fruit juice was also nothing special. Staff was alright, quickly attended to us and we got our order quickly served too. But not very friendly or accomodating. Depite that there were only few guests they even got our bill wrong! Atmosphere/location is superb and deserves 5 stars, but I wouldn't really say it's worth the money!
Great ambiance and the food was good and reasonably priced. We had the pizza and it was served fast.
Staff was very rude.didn't bring our order correctly and didn't give enough plates and tissue and etc.very bad service
Best pizza in Sri Lanka period. I was skeptical about seafood pizza until I tried theirs. Now it’s wheat I order every time I go. Another favorite is the seafood risotto, perfectly cooked every time. I’ve been there more times than I can count and they never disappoints. Also lovely beach right in front of the restaurant and depending on the time of the year, good spot for snorkeling. And if you’re lucky you might even see a turtle or two, just make sure you don’t get too excited and start chasing them around. They are wild animals and not photo props, so look but don’t touch.
Great place to visit. The beach is super nice and the restaurant looks cozy and chilling. You can enjoy a great drink with a beach sunset there. Prices are moderately affordable. The view is awesome
Great location, very popular with the local and expat communities. Right on the beach with a cool relaxed beach vibe. The beach itself has rock pools and sheltered/calm areas which makes it great for kids. There are palm trees lining the beach which also provides shade. The food here is great, which a large variety as well as a pizza oven. The staff are all really laid back and friendly as well. We love it here.
Nice place, located next to the beach. I ordered the pizza which turned out to be really good. One person can easily finish one as the pizza is not unnecessarily heavy. The service was pretty good, we received the food relatively fast.
Beautifully located right on the beach. Perfect place for sea bath specially for kids. Scrumptious pizza and great food. Will definitely go back.
My favorite eating plus hangout spot in this stretch for the last 6-8 years. Famous for wood fired pizza and on the beach service.
We keep coming back for the good food, good vibes and the friendly service. Increasingly over the last 5 years, the place has been almost exclusively taken over by tourists but their service to locals have not seen a dip.
My favorite is the bacon and mushroom pizza and a lion larger in the beach. The wasabi tuna sashimi is also recommend. Portions are nice and big
Nice stretch of beach, with shady areas with palm trees or open beach with sunbeds or for towels. Can get very narrow in areas when tide comes in, and rough all way up to the walls I places.
On south end there is a safe swimming area due to the coral reef that shelters the po like area, but still can get big waves.
Then as you get half way along near wijaya beach restaurant the current and strength much stronger, until at the far, north end, bug waves for experienced surfers.
The turtles come in and swim near the reef for the sea weed, what an honour to swim.near them.
Pizza, restaurant wijaya great for drinks, food, people watching, sunbeds, sunsets.
Either end there is a hotel, shanthi and sri Gemunu resort on north end and rock cabanas on south end. They both do lunch snacks, drinks.
Then there is rope swing at galawatta cabanas for 300rps, good fun and big rock near shanthi hotel for sunset photos.
So a great beach for everything.
Good place to hangout, have an awesome shallow, calm and spacious beach, accommodation prices are average and food prices are above average but food is good. There is no lot of options in the menu. There is no much parking space available. Good staff.
Had a decent experience here. The margarita pizza was very delicious but didn't have any basil. We also ordered Greek salad and ciders which were pretty good. Didn't really feel that the staff wanted us there. A lot of looks but no friendly conversation. Btw, ask for chili oil & flakes for your pizza. It wasn't offered but they do have it.
So picturesque, and quite a sheltered spot, but still plenty of big waves to play in. We saw turtles swimming there and when the tide is further out, you can swim to the rocky bit which blocks most of the waves' power, and see urchins and other fish!
Don’t miss this place if you’re in the area. Best sunset view, clean beach, fast service (rare around here). Oh, and the pizza — top notch, not just by Sri Lanka standards.
Wijaya Beach is nice beach which we covered on our way to Mirissa. One can try the Beach swing and bar facing the beach. Waves were little rough during our time but we had good time with beach swing.
I did not stay here but used it as an entry to the beach and a place to hang out after a swim in the natural lagoon which is right in front of Wijaya. It's brillantly located just in front of the stretch of beach where turtles come to lay their eggs and chill. The guys working at Wijaya are great surfers and a treat to watch while sipping a coconut or cocktail on one of the comfy chairs facing the sea.
