We had an amazing safari day in yala national park on feb. 4th 2024 with our passionate guide darshana. Not only did we see elephants, birds and crocodiles but also 2 leopards.we catched one really close. (5 meters distance).
Darshana shared his amazing taken pictures of our safari day with us afterwards.thank you darshana and ajith safari for the amazing experience.

We had very nice tour with Ishan as our driver and guide. Calm and good driving, we kept away from the other cars, therefore a very decent number of animal sightings and in general a very good time.

We had booked a half day safari and were a little late at the pickup location. Our driver waited and then we drove to the park. He really went above and beyond so we were lucky enough to see a leopard up close. He drove quite fast, but this is necessary so that you can still see the animals. We also saw buffaloes, crocodiles, snakes, monitor lizards, birds and deer. He answered our questions very friendly. He then brought us back to the agreed location punctually and safely. We liked it very much.

Saw a leopard, but overall felt rushed, speeding through Yala and lacking in information and dialogue on animals and what we were looking at

We did the afternoon Safari which was about 5 hours with the way there and back. We had the best experience! We got picked up right in time at our hotel, the truck was very nice and comfortable, we got water and our guide Nalake was the best! He really put in a lot of effort for us to have the best experience possible. We saw a leopard and he always knew where to go to see the animals again or for the first time. He had a lot of knowledge and explained everything very well!
We recommend 100%!

So we booked this tour because of its reviews and its positive mentioning in the lonely planet. We wanted to invest in an ECO tour and had no problem with paying more for the experience if we would get a sustainable and educating tour.
What we got was the opposite.
We tried to contact Ajith Safari the day before the tour at the mentioned address. The sign said „open“ but no one was there. We finally got our pickup time via whatsapp (WE had to ask for it).
Pickup was on time, but the driver drove recklessly. He drove extremely speedy over all of the speed bumps at the park entrance that he ended up driving OVER a street dog that was laying on the side of the street. We saw it coming (did he?) and heard the squeaking, barking and howling of the other dogs afterwards - yes, it must have been dead. But the driver didn’t stop and did not mention it at all afterwards as if we didn’t hear or see it.
At the entrance gate he just left us (2 ppl) alone in the jeep, wondering what was going on. We listened to the guide of the car in front of us who told the guests the park would not open until 6am (well thanks for the info). When he came back at 5: 59am he just jumped into the car and said „we do leopards today“.
So we drove around. After sometime we told him we also cared about the other animals (because he wouldn‘t stop for crocodiles or buffaloes). Don‘t think he understood.
The first half, until lunch, went on like that. So we tried to talk to him again and on the second half of the day he actually stopped when he saw that we wanted to take pictures.
The park itself, obviously, is absolutely beautiful, as is its wildlife. We saw elephants, sloth bears and even a leopard twice. BUT this is not thanks to Ajith safari, it is because the park is simply stunning.
So we wanted to review the Tour itself and not the wildlife, as you can get the exact same experience with any other tour as well.
We cannot recommend Ajith Safari at all and are very disappointed by the hectic and reckless driving, the little-to-no information we got and the zero-eco the tour was.

The park deserves 5 stars and Ajith Tours 2 for the mentioned reasons. We expected an eco tour with learnings about Sri Lanka’s wildlife but received nothing but an uber ride through Yala and a dead dog.

Can’t thank Ajith and his team enough for an amazing day out in Yala National Park. I was so keen to see the big animals, and we did, but Ajith and his guide also pointed out all the tiny and exquisit animals too which we would have otherwise missed.

Thanks again machang. We love it.

We have done a full day safari in Yala. It has been an amazing day! This has been due to the great driver/guide we have had, Nalaka (I hope it is written so). He really knew where to look for the animals. He has a sharp eye and ear! He has been a very kind person too.
We have seen lots of animals, even three leopards. We have been very lucky even if we are in dry season. Istuh-tee! Segi horrela!

The guide was good at finding animals but put pressure on me to leave early, after I had paid $180 for the full day, which is a lot of money for me. We left before the end of the day (when the light is best and it's easiest to see animals) even though I asked him to stay to the end. He lied about when the park was closing. It was a pity because aside from that the experience was good, but I can't recommend them instead of the other operators that do the same service.

Wonderful sightings at Yala had some superb moments. We were lucky to saw one tusker and three leopards and my children were enjoyed well in that day. I recommend Ajith Safaris to facilitate your safaris in Yala Sri Lanka.

The safari experience was just wonderful! We had lucky to see 2 leopard sightings. Our guide really gave us a memorable experience. Vehicles are extremely clean comfortable and best in the park. Will see you guys again soon.

We booked two jeeps for Yala safari by visiting their web site. They came on time to pickup us, but we had a bad experience with unprofessional driver (small boy). Due to his careless driving style, he got punished & suspended his license for 5 days by the park authority. Don't believe agents like that. Finally they ruined our Safari.

We booked three safaris with Ajith Jeep Safaris: Private Full Day Safari in Yala, Private Full Day Safari in Udawalawe, and Private 7 Hour Safari in Bundala. We had a truly outstanding and unforgettable experience, and would do it again.

What really made this trip stand out was Mr. Nalaka, our driver and guide on all three days. With more than 12 years of experience, he knows these parks inside and out and was a patient and talented wildlife spotter. We were very fortunate to see lots of wildlife - including two leopards and two sloth bears in Yala - and that is in large part because of his years learning where to look for animals. We were also pleased with how knowledgeable he is about all animals, from mammals to birds to reptiles. He answered our many questions thoroughly and we learned so much from him! If we toured these parks again, we would want to have him as our guide.

Booking was easy and my questions were answered in advance via email and WhatsApp.

The vehicle was in very good condition, and was extremely comfortable for long days on the road. The seats were very supportive, and my husband and I both appreciated the padded covers on the bars that we leaned up against.

Finally, the boxed lunches are excellent. Traditional Sri Lankan curries, rice, and fruit were an absolute treat, and our request for vegetarian meals was easily accommodated.

The tour is advertised as 5 am to 10 am but it includes travel time from your hotel. So, if you stay 1.5hr from the national park, then they will show you around the park only for 2hrs. There are other operators who can do it better for much lesser rate.

We had about 3 hours here on a Jeep safari and really enjoyed it. The jeeps picked us up from our hotel at 2.30pm, the park closes strictly at 6pm. I could have easily done a whole day here!
We did get to see 2 leopards:) and only saw 2 elephants but the bird life and other animals was pretty great! It’s a nice well kept spacious park. If I ever return to Sri Lanka again I’ll make sure we get a few days to explore this area.

Large numbers of Sri Lankan elephants are attracted to grass fields on the edges of the Udawalawe Tank during the dry season. The Great Elephants gathered here is numbering around 150-350, is the largest wild Asian gathering in the World" They eat, play & bath at their native environment.

Great safari experience! You can see elephants, wild buffalo and boar, exotic birds and fowl, mongese, and even a leopard or two.if you're lucky. Recommend you get a guide from the Ajith safari - they know where to go and how to track the elephants and leopards!

Amazing safari! We were lucky enough to get it to ourselves! But if you do have the extra cash to go private do it! Our driver was amazing and stopped to show us animals we didn't even see!
Also was an amazing 4 wheel driving guy which we loved! Cannot recommend a better tour company! Plus we saw a leopard!
