A beautiful location spoiled by an aggressive bar manager and loud music all day and night that can be heard from miles away.

No WiFi, air conditioning out of order, hot water intermittently very noisy with music all night long. No breakfast.to avoid

Amazing! The owner Dian is now a great friend of ours and we will be returning to Sri Lanka to visit. We were given the best room as it was out of season and we were the first guests he had this half of the year! Room was amazing with beautiful views of the sea and the lagoon. The beach here is gorgeous and with his bar on the beach was such a bonus! The owner was lucky enough to have two puppies born just before we arrived and he asked us to name them! Best Sri Lanka experience to get to know the local people, so kind and welcoming. We could not recommend a better area and hotel to stay in on your Sri Lanka trip!

Stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days, wish we could have stayed longer. The room is spacious, aircon is cold. Hot/cold shower, a terrace for a smoking, or just enjoy the quiet with the sound of nature overlooking the lake or sea view. The food is definitely good, their chef at the restaurant certaintly knows what they are doing. And don't forget their staff is really friendly (really friendly is an understatement btw) and helpfull. Will definitely be back here on my next trip to SL. Highly recomend this hotel for a nice relaxing stay in the Beautiful City of Tangalle.

We went to this place for a lunch and the service was very slow, we had to wait 1h30 to get our dish. The quality was very bad. The manager was not nice and aggressive. He couldn't (or wouldn't) give us change. The waiters were nice but I would not recommend this place at all.

We were going to stay a night here but had to leave after just a few hours due to the aggressiveness and ego of the manager/owner who was Jagath, The quantities of food we were given was way too little although we placed the order days in advance.when we asked for more he gave a straight up no without any effort to even offer us any more. He seemed to be racist also as he would favor foreigners requirements more than the locals and when we brought it up in a an argument he framed us as ‘Bloody Sri Lankans’, despite him being a Sri Lankan man framing us in that manner was quite disappointing. We certainly will never recommend this place at all for the locals since as you can see you wouldn’t be welcome there!

Very poor service and hospitality, aggressives staf no coordination and cooperation with guest, once any matter they act like a devils, once we were there, they delayed food what we order and once we ask about that very aggressive reaction form them, we can not protect over self that time.we all decide to call police that much aggressive staf they have, very bad food qulity.no chnace to ask or complain, don't stay your valuable time like this useless location, very disappointing about all staf and location

Great spot right on the beach, our room had a nice view of the ocean. Restaurant and bar are on the water and have great food and chill atmosphere. But best part of this place is the staff they are all fun and speak English well. Fun spot for beach vacation.

This is one of the nicer locations on the beach in this area. Rooms are nice, the staff is usually pretty friendly. The problem is more with the service, which is pretty much on par for these types of establishments in Sri Lanka. It will take some time to get your food, even when ordered in advance. If you are on a tight schedule it may be better to skip the food there. But the facility is one of the nicer ones on this stretch of beach.

Really nice chilled out beach bar and shacks. Great music and atmosphere. The sea isn't too rough at this place.

I believe the owners of this establishment also own Zanzibar - Tangalle. While the location is stunning, I would give this place 0 stars if I could (sadly that's not an option).

Our first warning sign should have been that this place is so far down the road of what is a really bustling stretch of cafes and restaurants. Our second should have been that it was practically empty. Regardless, after a long day we thought we would stop by for a bite to eat.

We were refused service by the staff because "they don't serve locals" (not that it matters, but only one of us is a SriLankan national- the rest of us hold citizenship from India, Australia, and the UK). To be refused service based purely on the basis of race is disgusting, outdated behaviour that has NO place in today's global world.

The manager (?) told us that they didn't serve "our people" because of "this". He stated that when we drank we argued, which is not only an incredibly generalised statement, but offensive. Additionally, we were all sober with no intention of drinking then at their establishment - we were just after a bite to eat.

We were told that the owner is foreigner who doesn't like to serve "locals" - and this evidently extends to anyone who originates from the sub-continent. If this is truly the case, take your resort off foreign land where you utilise the labour of local workers, profit off them and their land, refuse to serve them, and allow racism, discrimination, and segregation to continue in this country. That or dust off your colonial-era "No Sub-Continentals Allowed" sign and put it out the front so we don't have to waste our time.

Needless to say, I do NOT recommend any of you waste your time or your money at this place (unless of course you want to support their discriminatory ways).

This place is terrible! The service is the worst. They will try to overcharge and add costs which are not initially included. We had to pay an extra 3 percent charge just because we were paying by card. The rooms are badly kept and not very clean either. So avoid at all costs! A total rip off

Very nice rooms just across from the beach. A little more on the upscale side of things but not much more expensive then cheaper options. Beach bar Zambia is connected across the road on the beach. Isuru the man in charge of customer relations is a great character to have around always making you laugh. The food is delicious here is well with great seafood options. We paid 3000 rupees a night for the room.

Don't stay at this place. The owner is not friendly and also he is a cunning person. No respect for others. Don't waste your time and money by stay here. Very bad hospitality and very bad service. If you want to stay in tangalle, I suggest Grand Residence which is owned by a Doctor who is a very decent person. Don't spoil your holiday by staying here.

Der Preis pro Nacht mit ca. 12€ war ziemlich unschlagbar! Das Personal sehr freundlich.
Allerdings gab es untertags keinen Strom und oft kein Warmwasser bzw.einfach gar kein Wasser.
Wir haben 3x im Hauseigenem Restaurant gegessen wovon ich abraten würde weil es absurd teuer ist.
Unsere Rechnung war am Ende knapp 100€ für 2 Nächte.

I had a quick lunch in the zansibar resto. It wasn't expensive and the taste was good. Beach is also clean. In the resto they have free Wi-Fi and some cool music running. Great spot to chill.

If you like parties, it could be place for you. Otherwise I don’t recommend it!

We wanted to stay two nights but after the first one we changed our mind and left. The owner is not friendly, there is a lot of staff but the service is awful and it’s not possibble to sleep at night because of loud music.

Pros: Clean room in bungalow with AC, fan and big bed, nearby the sea, the beach is clean.

Cons: The bathroom wasn’t so much clean - there where some old used hotel soaps and shampoos, leeches and ants. At first I didn’t realize there is a “window” against the door to bathroom but I found out it when some man from the staff was propitiating me when I went from shower unfortunately. The service in the bar/restaurant is absolutely tragic. We were travelling across the Sri Lanka, so we now the service everywhere is not as fast as we are used to in Europe, but here we were waiting 3/4 hr.for two coffees and almost 1 hr.for salad with something like chicken kebab with undone chicken and a bit of cabagge. Even there were just two other customers with beer and about 4 guys from the staff. If you like parties, it’s your place maybe but we wanted quite rest and unfortunately at night was some party in the restaurant so we couldn’t sleep because of some horrible loud remakes of worldwide hits.

If you want peaceful rest after days of travelling, I recommend to go further to the end of the road nearby the beach where you can find a few hotels and bungalows in quiet zone.

Avoid this place! The staff is not particularly nice apart from some waiters, the general manager can even be a bit aggressive! They have made me a fixed price per night, initially I would stay 2 nights but after first night left and they overcharg

Nice view, but the service was horrible and the rooms pretty outdated. We did not feel welcome at all and I had to fight for WiFi in the room, which in the end we only got for one night. Other than that the room was clean and the shower had hot water but we did not have a water boiler for tea as was advertised. The manager was not to reach and conversations with the boys were hard because of their bad English. I wouldn't go there again.
