Kura Place Restaurant

Had the worst 3 veggie curries here in Sri Lanka ever. 3 types of beans, asked for medium spicy, not spicy at all, not salted so had to ask for extra salt, no gravy in the curries. Not even dal! Tasted like Thai food. On top of that, 10% service charge for bad food? Also way to pricey.

The food it self was not disgusting by any means, the combination of lack of proper curries and the high price this is a strong 1 star review. If the owner was inviting me for a free 3 vegetarian curry that actually is good I can change my review.

Place was fine but I can do better curries than this, sad to say but waste of money.

I have had local 5 vegetarian curries for 350 Rs that is way more flavourful, this was about 1900 Rs. Litterally throwing money in the toilet.

Restaurant is a nice location but the overall service can be improved. We ordered dinner for two persons and waited more than 45 mins even though there were only two other guests at the same time. Food was fine but nothing special. Would have expected something more considering the price. Service could be more communicative especially when it is not busy.

The food was delicious, the host was friendly.the minus was in the duration, maybe we waited more than an hour for our order, there were no people, maybe the fact is that the season is over?

Very good place and very friendly chef Dominic. Dishes are very tasty and fast cooked. Once we visit Tangalle again, we will come again to this place 100%.

The kitchen is very good, the staff is attentive and very friendly. Delicious cocktails and food. Fast feed. Made a good friend)

My wife and I decided to try Kura Place Restaurant as it was opposite to our accommodation. We were greeted with friendly staff and prompt service. The food was delicious and the portion size was just right. Highly recommend visiting this restaurant as a Sri Lankan who is visiting from living abroad.

Nice restaurant, the smash potato was super, bana fritters were nice. Staff was really good, but the prices are a bit high.

The hospitality of Kura and his team is beyond satisfactory. The service was the fastest and most attentive we experienced on our whole travels in Sri Lanka. For the new year celebration we were invited to participate to their traditions and invited for breakfast. Big recommendation!

The food is just OK, there are much better places around. When we asked for the receipt we received just the amount shown on calculator, without any confirmation - it seemed too high. We asked for the receipt and the price was already around 500LKR less - it still seemed too high. When we checked the receipt it was around another 500LKR too much. The only place in Sri Lanka where they tried to scam us twice for one dinner.

We had a grilled fish with vegetable salad and grilled chicken with chips.
It was a bit disappointing.
Very poor in flavour and overcooked.
Don’t expect to have anything else.
Chicken and burned chips.
Overcooked small slice of fish with cabbage and salad.
We choose the home made sauce which we never got.
The portions are small and poor.
2 stars for the cold beer, light and music during the power cut.

The owner is friendly and attentive to the guests. In order not to eat here everything is very delicious, I prefer the grill shrimp grill and Devilled. Very nice music, you can even put your own music, for which a special thanks, We had a great evening with great music in a wonderful and pleasant atmosphere. If you’re ever in Tangalla, I recommend you visit this magical place! We’ll be back here more than once

Although the location is nice, the owner welcomes you at the arrival and at the departure, waiters are very kind and they pay attention to the client, the food is not what it should be. Prices are a little bit high but when you go to a restaurant you are interested about the food and this is what they need to improve.

I ordered rice with chicken. I was brought some mediocre tasting dish with barely any chicken in it, and mostly bland rice. 3x the price compared to other places. Tourist trap. Avoid if you can.

It was a nice place, the food was so good and the beers was so fresh.but they don't accept credit card.

We were so happy that we came here for our evening! The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, the drinks were the best we had on the island and the seafood (we had crabs and prawn) was incredibe, cooked perfectly and the sauce with the crab was perfectly spiced. We wished we had stayed longer in Tangalle so that we could go back! Don't hesitate-the atmosphere and food here are a must!
