Kids' favorite place in Jaffna. Lot of fun activities and beautiful scenery. Make sure you have something to prevent mosquito bite if you are going late in the evening.

The "Old Park" is a designated children's play area with mat slide, climbing structures, etc. It has become very popular with children, who come there with their parents in the evenings.

The present "Old Park" is only a fraction of the original Old Park, which was a luxuriant woodland with age-old trees right in the midst of Jaffna town; unfortunately, now that has been cut up and divided between different government departments and the District Secretary's residence.

Children’s, elders and youngsters will enjoy in this park. Most of the TikTokers are doing TikTok at here. Many film makers are using this park for their films. Many friends are celebrating their birthday party here. Most entertainable place.

Old Park (Tamil: பழைய பூங்கா Paḻaiya Pūṅkā) is a 27 acre urban park in the city of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. It was originally built in the 19th century as the gardens and grounds of the residency of the British Government Agent for the Northern Province.

British Government Agent Percival Ackland Dyke purchased a 27 acre land in Jaffna using his own funds to serve as his residency and gardens/grounds. Dyke served as Government Collector for Jaffna for four years (1829–33) and Government Agent for the Northern Province for 32 years (1833–43;1843–60;1861–67).
Dyke was known as the "Raja of the North". He was buried at St. John's Cemetery at Chundikuli, Jaffna after his death on 9 October 1867. Dyke bequeathed Old Park, via an irrevocable deed of gift through Queen Victoria, to his successors rent free.

The residency building was in one corner of the land and the rest of the woodland consisted of trees. Old Park had some rare trees (mahogany, nedun, ironwood, baobab, lignum vitae) as well as trees common to the region (mango, tamarind). The income earned from the mango and tamarind fruits was used to maintain the park. The park also contained a variety of fauna including bats and butterflies.

Superb place for children. It is a very clean place and have many items for children to play. Safety of children have been taken care in the park. Children can visit with their parents or relatives. Usually the place will be crowded during weekends and holidays. There is a snack shop just adjacent to the park where children's favourite ice-cream and fruit drinks are available.

A favourite for schoolgoing children at Chundikuli Girls' College and St John's College. Well-maintained kids' park with play structures, benches, paved paths, flower bushes and grassy strolling areas. Like everything in Jaffna, the park has a rich war-related history as well, and was once occupied by the Tamil Tigers.

The Old Park is redesign of previous old park which had ancient mahogany trees and house of thousands of bats. Now, this park turned into a children's park. It is well maintained and child friendly up to the time of this review written.

Even though it is useful for the kids, the equipments are not properly maintained. Children of all age group use the sliders meant for children under 5 years. Therefore sometimes the grown ups hurt the small ones. The sand in the play area is not maintained or purified. Therefore children may get infected, if we do not take extreme care of them after play time. Other than that, it's a cheapest and soacious place for a relaxed evening and a refreshing morning!

It's a biggest park for boss. For last 2 years before some parts of the area rehabilitated and opened as Children park. Some other parts of the areas contains Government Offices (Jaffna Divisional Secretariat, Survey Department, Ceylon Electricity Board, National Water Supply and Drainage Board Tower Site, Training Division of Northern Province & etc.)
