Amith Gems (Pvt) Ltd reviews
21This is a Museum combined with a jewellery. We got interesting introduction about gem mining in Sri Lanka. The technology they use is very old, they say it is because of nature conservation, however it can be very hard for the workers. The introduction was detailed enough. In the jewellery shop they were patient and helpful, despite we left only a small amount of money there.
Big scam and trap for tourists. Our local driver took us there. We bought total 5 rings worth USD 800 but later we checked in another quality shop in 4* hotel and found they are worth maximum USD 210 with guarantee certificate. On top one of the ring (Novaratna) has already cracked/broken. (Can you reply/answer the reason!)
Sri Lankan tourist police/consumer protection should raid this shop.
I have checked with Zam Gem in Colombo airport duty free.they also say the same. Most of them synthetic or low quality stones.
Remember, no business will succeed by cheating its clients.
It's the place where we can see how they are mining and processing the gemstone. The main findings in Kandy are Sapphire. They are showing small documentaries about how they are mining to find Gemstone.
One of the best place for buying Gem & Quality gold products. They are issued certificate for Gems. Good friendly professionals staff.
Very friendly attitude by the staffs. They have a small museum where they explained the gems mining procedure with a short video. Varities of gems stones are available here to buy.
A wonderful experience. Vast selection of quality Gem and Jewelry. Highly recommended. Exceptional and professional Staff members.a worthy visit!
Tourist trap. Be aware if your driver offers to bring you here or any other gem place / jeweler. There is a reason why there is half a dozen or so drivers waiting around outside - they are very likely taking a commission from the sales which occur after the "free" escorted tour, which was not very interesting in any case. It lasted about 4 mins and I didn't get a chance to read any of the information signs, since the main reason was to get me in to the shop as quickly as possible. And another thing - their "laboratory" was empty, despite it being about 3pm on a weekday. Where are the supposed staff? The computers did not even look to be connected to anything! A "certificate" for the "Gemological Institute of America" is placed on the window of the "lab" and brought to your attention, but this appears to be nothing more than a printed piece of paper with their logo on it. Indeed, this is the only place the institute is mentioned. You won't find it on their website, nor on the "certificate" you receive after making a purchase, which I find rather strange. You also won't find them listed on the GIA website. All very suspicious.
Very goos experience, wonderful staff. They helped us with very good information from extractions from the mines to the cutting and sale. Wonderful documentary, cutting demonstration, and wide range of gem stones
It was a different experience to learn about history and manufacturing processes of different type of gems
I loved and bought an aqua marine ring with white sapphires and was happy until my jeweller told me that i had paid thrice the amount for the ring. I feel cheated
The museum and the tour to explain gems was very explanatory and good way of marketing too. But the prices are on a higher side. I didn't negotiate really. Maybe they come down to a good price
Place to buy and invest your money for a valuable stones. Place for presure and semi presure stones.
It has no monthly or weekly visitors but its still holding on.its not a well live place for tourist attraction.but it was there for more than 10 years.
Good collection of gems Got a bird's-eye view of gem mining through their short film. Service of employees cordial and friendly
Nice place for gems buying topaz is the local gem and its nice i think the prices is good
Always ask for discount
This was the place where the group spent the most, and the ladies were especially delighted make an extended stop. There is a short tour and visit to the museum, to see the gems available in Sri Lanka, before you proceed to the showroom below.
We thought the prices were reasonable, especially as there is some room for, negotiation.
Here they provide a premium set of diamonds, gems and other jewellery product. Also they give good discounts on the products.
Be careful while purchasing Gems from this place. They have fake Gem stones. Tour guides takes you to this showroom, they are part of fake sakes.please do not believe their story. We bought Gems trusting their salesmanship anf big show. We checked from other jewellers, they said this are synthetic stones not gems. They gave us fake certificate. Do not believe them and waste money on gems which has no value.
Travel triangle tourist take us to showroom.
The place is worth the visit. An insight to the gem industry was provided. The exhibit was beautiful.
I bought an onyx string & a pair of ear studs, both are beautiful. The person in charge took us around, very cordial, love to visit again.
