Very clean, spacious and loads of plants which makes it a relaxing base from which to explore Kandy.

The hotel-owner Fernando is friendly and easy and can give you tourist tips if you so wish.

I was there in Covid so mainly chilling, cooking sri lankan veggies and going for walks:)

Hiranya Mountain View hostel is a wonderful place to stay outside of Kandy City. It has a balcony where you can sit with a cup of tea looking over the Valley Kandy and the mountains beyond. The owner Fernando and his family keep the place beautifully clean and comfortable. There's mixed-gender dormitories and 2 family rooms. A kitchen which you can use is really well equipped. There's lots of tourist information both printed and verbal on places to see around Kandy. There is also a superb tuk-tuk service provided by Lakxman if you want to go somewhere or even just need picking up from the station. We stayed in a family room it had its own private bathroom and shower and was very comfortable air-conditioned with Wi-Fi.big glass windows let plenty of light into the room. Food isn't served by the hotel but immediately outside are good Sri Lankan Style restaurants and shops and a supermarket. The view from the balcony has to be seen to be believed it is simply wonderful. This place is a little gem.

Great hostel, very clean and looked after. Fernando, the owner told us he's worked in hospitality for years and you can see he has great experience and that he's ready to go the extra mile for his guests. Definitely recommend going! Also the tours they organise with Lakshmi are incredibly good value and helpful

Very beautiful place. Amazingly maintained by two amazing people (husband and wife). Very clean and calm. Highly recommended.

Fernando and his wife (I'm very sorry I can't remember your name, here Catarina from Portugal who was travelling with her mother) were very welcoming, they've introduced us to Laxman, who is this amazing guide and tuk-tuk driver in Kandy, who made sure we had an amazing time. They helped us plan a part of our trip, helping us to sort out less expensive ways to travel. The rooms are really comfortable and there is a really nice vibe at hostel. If I return to Kandy I'll definitely will stay there again.

Beautifully positioned, clean hostel. Run by Fernando who was the most delightful host, helping with any questions and providing endless tea and coffee. The rooms were super clean and comfortable with good a/c.

Superb! It's an ideal place for both solo travellers and couples or groups. The place has a breathtaking view, it is super-clean and the hosts (Fernando & Kanchana) are the friendliest and most caring people I've met in Sri Lanka. I liked the place so much that I stayed far longer than initially planned. You'll also have a chance to book amazing tours with Mr. Laxman (he knows all the cool places) at fair prices. Also, just a step away there's a small super-market, two eateries and laundry facilities - this is really convenient. Highly recommended if you plan to visit Kandy.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The host, Fernando, and his wife are friendly, accessible and very helpful. The hostel is super clean and the view from the balcony is fabulous. The location is quite convenient and there is a small supermarket and takeaway just below the hostel. Highly recommended!

Stayed here for a couple of nights. The place is perfect. Very clean and comfortable and has one the greatedt scenic views. What makes this place awesome is the effort that the host put for great hospitality.

If you plan an awesome vacation, this is the place in Kandy. You can spend your holiday in there very calmly. I went there last week and actually we are students yet and locals. But we didn't face any horrible experiences in there. The owner is very friendly and we can arrange everything with him. Charges also very reasonable. I can recommend this place responsibly. Not only I must mention about that, the cost to Kandy from this place was only Rs150. (Uber cars) You can see the marvelous view in there. So Hiranya Mount View Hostel is the best place for spend your holiday in Kandy, Sri Lanka.

This is one of the best hostels I have ever been to. Mr. Fernando is the type of kind host that you rarely get at hostels and you deserve to experience! He is very helpful and cares about his guests. The view from this hostel is also amazing. It is a bit of a trek from the center (25 minute walk), but there are cheap busses. Also, there are monk chants in the morning, but he provides earplugs if you need them.

Wow, is all I can say. I always read a lot of reviews and on the famous hotel-websites there were literally more than 95% reviews that rated a 9 or higher. After having been there 3 nights (extending 1 extra night even), I can agree it's a perfect place. The rooms are excellent and modern, with the bathrooms fully equipped and actually have high water pressure (uncommon in my travels in Sri Lanka). The AC in my room worked perfectly and the bed was comfortable. The shared balcony has the most amazing panoramic view on a green side of Kandy, fresh air and calm. At night there can be some street dogs barking, but nothing too crazy. Next to the hotel itself, the service is amazing. I got a free pickup from the train station from Laxman, who can arrange trips for you if you want, I ended up just going traveling alone for my own preference. The hotel owner, Fernando, is really the best host I've had so far in 4 weeks of travel through Bali and now 4 weeks in Sri Lanka. He is always smiling, speaks very good English, and is genuinely happy to help you. I had some interesting conversations with him about Sri Lanka, which was insightful. I definitely had a great experience here and would recommend it to anybody!
