Mountbatten Bungalow reviews
46 We went to our stay in the Mountbatten bungalow in December, 2023. Stayed for two days in the Garden Chalet, which was a wooden chalet inside a little garden. There were close to 5 chalets in total. The experience was awesome.
The food was very good, included 4 course meals which we could select our Mains/Deserts. There were various European/Asian options we could choose from.
The staff was very helpful.
Minor suggestion is that the pool (which was located in a very scenic location) was so cold that I tried it once and never went again, so if it was heated it could be much much better.
Otherwise overall 7.5/10 experience.
Great place in the mountain and surrounded by trees and tea plantation at 15 min from kandy. Great pool and food. The chalet only has one bedroom, if you’re 3 they will add an extra bed in the room
An amazing places to stay at Kandy.
We liked very much the the view and, just astonishing.
The food was very good as well, but, the vest thing was definitely the service, Sagara is the best! Best host and person ever! The manager Raj was very kind as well, we got some surprises to our honeymoon.
I recently booked a suite here and would like to share my experience for future guests.
Route to the Property: The path indicated on maps is a steep, uphill challenge, especially for two vehicles passing at the same time. I recommend taking the alternative route via Kandy town for a safer and more comfortable journey.
Setting: The property is a gem, beautifully set in nature, offering a serene ambiance in an elegantly converted old bungalow. Ideal for those looking to disconnect and immerse themselves in tranquility.
Food: The culinary experience was top-notch. With a variety of set menus to choose from, the quality and taste of the food were exceptional.
Connectivity: A significant point to note is the poor reception in the suite, impacting both mobile and WiFi connectivity. This could be a concern for guests who need to stay connected for work or personal reasons. Outside the suite, the reception is somewhat better.
In conclusion, while the property offers a peaceful escape with great food and a stunning location, the approach route and connectivity issues are aspects to consider when planning your stay.
Located in upper part of Hanthana mountains range near by Amaya Hills. Quite and beautiful views
Awesome place to have a quiet and relaxing vacation in a colonal atmosphere. Rooms are spacious, and food is so delicious. Staff is friendly and supportive. Initially, we came for 1 day but extended another day and planned to revisit. Our kids loved the chalet.
Simple yet cool colonial bungalow style rooms. But the service, infinity pool, and quietness (embedded in nature) were great!
A very relaxing to place to stay. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. A perfect oasis in nature to enjoy spectacular views and completely unwind. The food is good but I would recommend ordering Sri Lankan food which is off menu but for us was the highlight of all of the meals we had here. Of note, if you like to bird watch make sure to bring your binoculars as there were tons of different birds flying throughout the forrest.
My family had a great time. Excellent view and the pool. Calm place for a vacation. Foods are superb. 100% clean. Excellent hospitality, Thanks Dinesh for your service.

Me and my wife stayed in a garden chalet last week. Honestly the experience was a pleasant, comfortable and a memorable one. We have several 5 star experiences but none can match the hospitality of Mountbatten Bungalow. Mr Chulan, Mr Dinesh and Head Chef Mr Weerasekara were super friendly and really helpful characters. They really did thier best to make our stay such a memorable and a relaxing one. We felt like home and super relaxing due to their next level hospitality. The bungalow has its historical value as well as soothing ambience. It is located on a top of a hill so its infinity pool provides a view of such a scenic mountain range. I really enjoyed the swimming pool cause it was pin drop silent when we were there. Should appreciate the head chef's efforts too, for serving us such eye catching cuisines with a taste of heaven. Rooms are super spacious and well designed to provide the ultimate comfortness. Highly Recommending this place and the staff. We wish you all the success in the future and hope to visit you again?
We had a wonderful stay at Mountbatten Bungalow thanks to Kusum. I would highly recommend this place if you visit Kandy. This place is so calm and relaxing, you can enjoy the incredible view. Food is absolutely delicious and the staff will always try to make your stay unforgettable. As it is only a few kilometers from all the major attractions in Kandy. Rooms are spacious.
Charming and relaxing, historical hotel. Former getaway for Lord Mountbatten. Enjoyed our visit very much.
This is a nice place to visit which located in Hanthana. The rooms are comfortable and service is exceptional. Food is exellent.
One of our best stays in SL. They had the most welcoming staff with exceptional interior & exterior features. We stayed at Garden Chalets & had the best stay here. Definitely recommend.
We had an extremely nice experience at Mountbattern Bungalow from the moment we started the reservation to the ending of trip.
If I say the staff was friendly it would be bit under rated.they were super friendly, Upon the reservation, the manager Dharmapriya tried to meet all our requests without a word, even they cared to double check on the time of our arrival. We had lovely small chit chats with the staff here and there during the stay which gave us more of a warm welcoming family feeling.we had a nice cinnamon infused welcome tea, which was super refreshing after a long journey. Then we were shown to our rooms which was beyond expectations, super clean, well arranged and what a view from the balcony.
Food was so great, presentation was first class with a topnotch service from Dinesh-who was our butler for the entire stay. Avo salad was my personal favourite out of all and even the butter was cut in to a design! They were so flexible to arrange our meals in different locations we requested and never hesitated to provide us snacks and tea fulfilling all our annoying requests.
Spa service was very professional, relaxing and soothing, and was a real value for money.
They attended to all our requests, helped us to find tuk-tuks, spent time on showing us the bungalow. I regret we couldn't stay more but we surely will visit again and spread the word too.
Fabulous in every way. Historical place, super luxurious and world class service offered here. Must visit place
Excellent stay and location, exceptional service from the team especially the personalised attention for the entire duration of our stay from Chulan and Christy. Would highly recommend this theme resort for a nice relaxing family getaway. By the way they make an excellent homegrown tea!
Perfect hideout for those who appreciate tranquility. The location is situated up on the hills of Kandy heerassagala road and the hotel carries some features of colonial period upper class dwelling.
