Upstairs is well-kept interior preservation that is filled with architectural details, pictures, and ephemera of history. Rich hardwoods throughout where there are two outdoor balconies. One overlooks the street and the other, the interior courtyard.
Drink prices are higher in the elegant upstairs.
The main floor courtyard gets only 2 stars. It has giant TV projection and it gets heavier tobacco smoke.

Food was excellent and staff attentive and especially Sriyani, Mac & Cheese so good and Spicy Chicken Soup fab

Beautiful place to sit and have a beer, large lion beer bottle is 1100.
Amazing service, lovely place to sit and feel safe while you have a drink.
Really clean toilets. Overall highly recommended. Bit weird everyone upstairs is white tourists and everyone down stairs is Sri Lanka not sure why it’s separated. Maybe downstairs is cheaper prices.

Amazing food, service, and value for money. Staff couldn’t do enough. Breakfast huge and delicious and the room was spotless, comfortable and spacious. Great location. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful place right in the middle of kandy town. I have visited the bar many times and I loved the vibe there. Even though it’s not very spacious, they have arranged it very nicely. Food is amazing and the staff very friendly and attentive. One of my favourite bars in kandy area.

Atmosphere was lovely and service was good; nice to find a place in Kandy that serves alcohol but unfortunately the cocktails were exceptionally weak. For the price they charge I was quite disappointed, we tried 3 different ones and they were all the same so definitely not a one-off. Didn't have any food so can't speak for that, would come back for the vibe just keep your expectations low on the drinks.

The food was disappointing, the portions were tiny, and the prices were unpleasantly high (especially considering the quality). Must be a very greedy owner to ask that high prices for that low quality

Delicious food. Nice atmosphere to hang around with friends in the evening for a beer/drink and dinner. Prices are in higher end compared to other similar places around. But worth for money and worth trying.

This place is really special. I visited the restaurant upstairs several times while in Kandy. The food was great, the ambiance - especially at night, with the lights low and the jazz playing - was wonderful, and the staff were absolutely lovely. They’ll even gladly walk you through a room with amazing old photos of life in Kandy. Don’t miss this gem while in town!

Had a Very Delicious Dinner at Royal Bar & Hotel. The specialty of this hotel is that they do not use artificial flavorings for their food. All food is flavored with Organic Sri Lankan spices.

A cozy watering hole that won't burn a hole in your pocket. Food is decent, but the best thing about this place is the ambiance.

Incredibly overpriced and okay-ish food. Staff is excellent and the place definitely gives a wonderful old vibe. The stars are for the ambience and service.

Very convenient place. One of the best places to have a drink in Kandy. Very clean. I tried the open area in the middle where there was beautiful wooden furniture, some are made out of casks.
The food is great. Try the potato wedges and deviled gram.
The waiting staff is so nice. Quick service. Highly recommend.

Wonderful historic hotel in Kandy’s center, a stone-throw away from the sacred tooth temple. Beautiful and well furnished rooms. And AMAZING, KIND, FUN AND HELPFUL STAFF!
