Sleep Cheep Hostel

Just looking through some old emails and totally forgot about this place when I visited in 2018. Cannot remember if I reviewed back then so I'd love to leave mine now while I remember. I had struggled to find a good hostel as several messed me around after I arrived very late on the train. The guys at the Sleep Cheep Hostel were so warm and welcoming. I spoke to a few of them and they were really nice and helpful. Facilities are not a 5 star hotel but basic and comfortable and excellent value for money. So good I actually returned twice when I returned. Can't imagine how sad things are right now in the country, really hope you guys can get things going again. It's a little out of the way but I found it very peaceful there and I enjoyed the view. All in all a great stay.

It is so cool place. Genuinely can offer good stars to reception with details about premises to your bed. I stayed for 3-night in mixed dorm so I would definitely recommend it.

This place has a really good vibes. Just above a hill It's surrounded by a lot of big trees. Hostel is very clean. The Host is very welcoming and helpful in providing every details about the hostel and the places around.

Fantastic place. If i went to Kandy again, Absolutely i will stay at this hostel. Plus, the owner is very nice and helpful person.

Wonderful Hostel. Large common area, fully equipt kitchen, cheap washing machine (goes by the kilo not per item), additional newly built bathrooms, mozzie nets and fans in room. Individual lockers available for valuables. 250RPS from train/bus station. Supermarket near by. No traffic noice, and relaxing hammocks in the garden. Very helpful host, wall complete with hints/tips and maps of region.

Woke up in the morning because the owner was bend over me and was kissing me, he ran out the room when i opened my eyes but came back 5 minutes later and asked for another kiss. I packed my stuff and moved somewhere else. Its a few days later now and still feel very disturbed by what happened. Please don't stay here, this man has zero respect or sanity if you ask me. Creepiest thing that has ever happened to me.

We had the private double room and a nice stay there. Reasonable price for the private double Room.
We had to wait 1 hour for check in after arriving more than 2 hours after official check in time, because of some spontaneous late check out.
Haven’t felt treated good in that situation. Not really good organization from the staff and owner.
But the owner is friendly and has some good information about the area and Sri Lankan culture in general.
Location is bad, far away from the main city, means you have to walk far or take tuktuk for everything. View is existing but not even close to good.
Kitchen and fridge provided but just essentials. No tea towels.
Bathroom clean, shower powerful and warm.
Wet smell at some places in the hostel, but probably normal for this area (much rain).

After all I can recommend this hostel!

Really great hostel with awesome facilities. I only giving it a four star because there no restaurants close by, but there is a kitchen and a well stocked shopping center close by. But I will definitely go back!

Great budget place. Clean and well maintained. Stuff are very nice people. We had an easy, nice time there

Sleep Cheep is a typical modern hostel. It's clean, simple, and the wifi is great! They have a kitchen and the manager is very friendly. Plus, you cannot beat the price. Highly recommend.
