Sri Lanka Knuckles Trekking

We had a memorable trip with Hema in Knuckles that has been a highlight of our travels in Sri Lanka. Hema specialised in Flora and Fauna at university and offered his knowledge about interesting plants on the treks. The routes were truly spectacular with varied scenery! His wife made us an extremely tasty vegan Lamprais for lunch wrapped in a banana leaf & was one of our favourite meals of our travels. The family at the homestay were welcoming and provided us with plentiful food. The porter on the hikes Raja was extremely friendly and amazing at spotting wildlife in the rainforest! Hema was chatty and kind-hearted. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would really recommend Hema’s trekking package!

Hemantha is an amazing person and he absolutely exceeded all our expectations during our one-day trek in Knuckles. He has 20 years of experience in guiding this area, which really shows. He knew literally everything about the rich flora and fauna in Knuckles. He's also a very kind and caring person, who will definitely tailor the trek to the wishes of you as a person. We found Hemantha on internet as we wanted to go on a hike in Knuckles. It was one of the best things that happened to us in Sri Lanka. Hemantha provided everything from amazing guide for a hike through amazing lunch (picknic lunch rice curry in banana leaf was best food I had in Sri Lanka) and also accomodation in a local village deep in the Knuckles. However, what I value the most is the friendship attitude and openess as he was telling us a lot about situation in Sri Lanka and always tried to provide excelent service. What I value the most is how he took a special care of our intolerancies. We had an amazing gluten free lunch in the middle of our hike wrapped up in a banana leaf (delicious different kinds of curry and pineapple as a dezert) prepared by his wife. He also made sure that the guest house where we were staying provided only gluten free options. The next day on our way back to Kandy we stopped by a gluten free bakery to taste different kind of pastries. All food we had provided during our trip together was absolutely delicious!
For the hike we chose a 2-days long trip to Knuckles. It was perfectly planned and balanced. First day we went on a tougher but beautiful hike to Knuckles peaks. On the second day we had a lighter walk in the valley where we could see tea plantations, rice fields, different fruits and spices, and also were swimmimg by the waterfall. The whole trip was like a paradise for the eyes.
