The Buena Vista Kandy

Absolutely loved our stay! The villa has three guest rooms with a large common area/patio with an amazing view of the city. We appreciated that it wasn’t too steep to get up with the tuk tuk but still high enough to be away from the street noise in Kandy. Rooms were large, clean, and had huge gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. Rooms were large and clean, and beds were soft and comfortable.

What made the place incredibly special though were the caretakers of the place, Puvannesh and Ghopal. Puvannesh was so incredibly thoughtful — he brought a drying rack out for us to help us dry our clothes, and even went to town to get a throat remedy for one of our friends who had a hoarse voice Ghopal makes amazing food and we were so thankful to try his homemade cooking. Breakfast was incredible and dinner was great with the curries and the views from the hotel.

No issues with mosquitos that some other reviewers had commented on experiencing — they also seem to have taken those comments into consideration and got mosquito repellent machines and plug ins and whatnot.

What a great place, only a few rooms which makes it a very personal experience. The two gentlemen running the place are beyond kind and make it feel like home, which you can feel in the food. Puvannesh and Ghopal were amazing host and we look forward to coming back one day.

Flexible and friendly service. We had some last minute requests for an extra room, to make up a double bed and a single bed. The owner was very accomodating and helpful. When he heard we were taking a train early one morning he very kindly packed up our breakfast for us. Clean rooms with lush green views.

The location of the hotel is on the hill, but very close to the city. Nice place, big & clean room.

Great location, easy to get in and out of the city. The staff was wonderful. The villa is well maintained. Rooms are large and clean. The food was good. Highly recommended.

Tolle Aussicht von der Terrasse auf Kandy. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und umfangreich. Auch das Bett hat uns super gefallen - bisher das Bequemste auf der ganzen Reise. Während unseres Aufenthaltes waren nicht alle Zimmer belegt, so dass es recht einsam war. Für Leute, die Anschluss suchen, daher eher nicht geeignet.
Man kann gut vom Anwesen in die Stadt laufen - zurück haben wir aufgrund der Steigung immer ein TukTuk genommen.

When we first arrived, stepped onto the lawn and got the first glimpse of this magnificent view, all we thought was:

The combination of the hearty fish-curry with the sweet-sour pineapple-cabbage salad was mindblowing. We already had many curries, but this was extraordinary. After we were full, there came a super yummy birthday cake that we didn't expect.

We loved the Geoffrey Bawa Architecture there. Nice and cosy rooms with the breath taking location and view. Caretaker was so good and his father cooks very delicious foods. Place is highly maintained with all the standards. Didn't want to check out
