We took a cooking class there.
Everyone had a lot of fun and we got a little insight into the local cuisine.

Perfect welcome, spacious room, and above all incredible meals. Our host is very kind and concocts divine local meals. The place is very peaceful.

Beautifully situated on the river Home stay of very friendly and helpful family.
Garden is very beautiful. Quietly located, 15-20 minutes from the city.
Rooms are fine and clean, we had a connecting door which made it a bit noisy. Excellent well cared for breakfast and the dinner buffer was also excellent. The most expensive dinner buffet we have had in Sri Lanka.

What a lovely family welcomed us in their house. The food was delicious, the rooms very clean and service / hospitality are simply the best! We would definitely stay here again of we could.

I did not stay, but took the cooking class! Fantastic. Very gifted teacher. Explains spices and steps well. Amazing food.

It was my favorite part of my trip in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend.

We celebrated our daughter's birthday at Thotupola Residence (TR), and what a celebration it was! The dynamic couple and their son who run the show deserve a round of applause.

From planning the day to executing it, everything was handled brilliantly well.

Mrs. Swaris of 'Sulochana's Kitchen' at TR organised a demonstration station where the kids literally made the batter, baked and iced the birthday cake! A novel experience they all enjoyed. The kids also had a separate station to make sandwiches, much to the delight of the adults. Theirs was a day filled with fun activities.

From the soup and garlic bread to the dinner and dessert, everything was warm and comforting.

It is a family run hotel. We were very warmly welcomed by the owner and landlady, they are very friendly.

The room was perfect. Spacious bathroom, mosquito net around the bed (always nice) and above all the room had a lot of comfort.

The food was fresh and delicious, it was made on the evening by the owner. She is very friendly and will do anything for you, we had a nice chat. The husband and their son also live here, they are all very friendly.

The location is also very nice, good base and the garden is beautifully landscaped.

100% recommended! Beautiful and clean rooms, very friendly and delicious food.
If you come from Negombo make sure to ask for a transfer, as it is much cheaper than taxis from the airport.
We highly recommend to join the cooking class with Sulochana to learn how to make a real srilankan Curry!

Very tranquil, silent accomodation with a wonderful view to the river. You can see here, flying foxes, monkeys and a lot of birds. In the morning you can see the local fishermen going to fishing. The rooms are very stylish. The staff is very friendly and they speak very good English. The food is amazing. They prepare freshly for the guests. If you look for a room near Kandy, I recommend this place.

Die Frau Sluochana macht auch einen Kochkurs sie ist die gute Fee in der Küche. Super leckeres Essen.

Sulochna’s cooking class was very informative and the food we made was the best rice and curry we had in 2 weeks on the island. Can’t wait to do this at home! She was also very flexible with the time we could make for the class. Highly recommended.

Hotel staff and owners not treat guest well.no bagage transfer to rooms.entrance road also not good. Owners laughig to face and stare to behind.

What a gem. We took a punt and booked online.then drove
through what seemed like a god-forsaken area.only to come across this well presented gem. Totally impressed by the owners and their standard of service. Highly recommend!

I called to ask if they have rooms, and they confirmed availability, but when I arrived at hotel and he saw that am wearing hijab, he told me that all rooms are already reserved, I even checked Expedia and booking and there was available rooms but he also denied saying that he didn't update Expedia yet, that's racism and impolite behaviour to tourists
