One of the beautiful water fall in kegalle district. If you travel to Dedugala / Dolosbage side you can visit Nalagana Ella. You can bath but use place like pool. Sometimes the water level rises suddenly. Be careful and be attentive when traveling.

If you come through Kegalle you can use uduwa - yatideriya road. If you come through bulathkohupitiya you can use Dedugala road.

Magnificent waterfall in Dedugala. Easy to access may be 500 meters from main road. There was a ticket counter but the day we visited no one else there. At least 40 meters height. This is the highest waterfall of Ritigaha Oya. Not a safe place to bath. You must see this waterfall when you travel in Dedugala.

You have to stop your car near the main road unless you have a four wheeled vehicle as the road towards the falls is full of rocks. You have to go about 200m and there is a ticket counter and you have to pay Rs 200. Then you have to walk about 200-300m to see the waterfall.

Water. Each of these chutes reaches a height of approximately 40 meters. The falls are also known as the Ritigaha Oya Falls, named because it springs from a tributary of the Kelani River called the Ritigaha Oya Reservoir.

How To Get There, Season to Visit & Useful Information
The falls are not directly visible from the road due to the presence of the trees in the area, and visitors will need to trek for around 250 meters toward the river to catch their first glimpse of the water. The area is best visited during daylight hours between the months of February and April. A deep rock pool sits at the base of the falls, but visitors are asked to keep in mind that water levels can increase rapidly and without warning at a moment’s notice and that precautions should be taken not to visit during rainy weather. The area is also known for leeches; leech socks or repellents such as citronella oil can come in handy.

To preserve Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, visitors are requested not to carry plastic items with them during their visits, and to ensure that they bring back all items that are carried with them.

Nalagana Ella is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kegalle, Bulathkohupitiya area. The journey is easy. Parking is available.

Don't use the road I attached to the photos. It is going to the top of the Dedugal road. The waterfall is overall good. You have to buy a ticket to enter the waterfall.

First I have to say this is NOT the Nalagana falls but the top of it, where there is some small dam to control the water that is flowing down to Nalagana falls. Very beautiful place with different sections like dam, spoil gate etc.

This amazingly beautiful waterfall is located on the Bulathkohupitiya-Dedugala (B67) road in a tranquil nature reserve which also accommodate the Kalupahana hydro power plant, the ruined remains of a 1948 hydro power plant and also a natural rock pool downstream for safe bathing.

This attractive falls is around 40 meters in height and springs from the Ritigaha Oya stream.

A must visit and a photo worthy stop if you are travelling in the Kegalle district of the Sabaragamuwa province in Sri Lanka.

On Way to Nalagana falls by foot is bit challenging unless you take care of leeches and slippery slopes all the way to falls. Anyway, it's rewarding once you get to the near and appreciate the beauty it holds.

One can have a bath there but to be careful during rainy season as there are chances of sudden rise of water levels.young children are not adviced but they too can get distant views

What's more attractive about a waterfall? It's every single detail. The fall you are seeing is Nalagana Ella falls. The reason it's called Nalagana Ella is that it looks similar to the hair of a woman. ⠀

⠀ Much better if you can visit this when it's not raining. You are guaranteed to witness a majestic fall. This is more popular among many people because it's not so far away from Colombo. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀ It's a beautiful waterfall tucked away in the forest. We had to trek a little into the thick woods to reach the waterfall. The view was amazing and we spent hours there. As it is slightly slippery en route and on the top of the rocks caution is advised. Eventually we ended up having a dip in the cold water even though it's not advised to do so. But the risk was worth it.

Beautiful place to visit. But take advice from the locals before picking a bathing spot. It's best to pick a place further away from the waterfall.
