Gimanhala Hotel

The food was very nice. We had lunch and there were Sri Lankan cuisine buffet and few western options as well. I liked it. Foreigners who wants to have some spicy Sri Lankan food should go there. Coz it's very closer to local people's spicy level.

I actually really liked this hotel, but I’m marking them down because of the overzealous security guards who refused to let us back into the hotel after returning from dinner! Yes, I suppose we should be pleased that they are vetting who comes and goes, but even after showing our room keys they still refused to let us enter! If our tour guide hadn’t been close at hand, we’d probably have been sleeping on the street that night!

Positives:
Central location.
Compact rooms, but clean and well appointed.
Good wifi signal in rooms.
Comfortable.
Good shower.

Negatives:
Shower tray wasn’t deep enough, so bathroom ended up becoming a wet room.
No breakfast.
Security guards!

The main hotel area has been closed for reason unknown. The dining area been shifted to a narrow space and the food is not delicious as previous Gamanhala food

Poor service. Had to wait some time to get a seat. There were number of employers on the floor, but no one approached us for sometime. Also, took a long time to bring the menu and the table was not clean properly.

We all had our lunch their. Service as well the food was good. Clean and friendly service.parking available, nice environment.

Excellent stopover on the way to Sigiriya, Habarana, Trinco etc. Their Sri Lankan food spread is noteworthy. Clean washrooms and good service.

Never ever recommend to anybody. The food is not tasty and half boiled. There are many to serve the food in the buffet.
Never ever seen such a place like that. If you really want to visit there.plz go to the wash room but not to the restaurant.

Main course was such a messed menu and there were two dessert sago pudding & banana?

We had lunch here and everyone was satisfied about the food and service. Place had ample parking and clam surrounding.

This place is horrible. Once you order your food at the restaurant, you will have to wait for over 45 minutes to have it and here i am typing this while starving to death.the restaurant has no proper social distancing.there are flies.my spoon was not washed properly.the prices are not worth it. There is nothing good available for lunch. I remember visiting here 15 years ago and it was a completely different experience compared to this. This place is bad in every possible way. DO NOT VISIT THIS. I PREFER TO STARVE THAN HAVING A MEAL HERE.

Such a badass buffet. The worst I've ever experienced. Also it costs Rs. 1400 per person. Absolutely not worth the money.

No WiFi was an issue for us.
Room quite nice - tv nice and clean. No hot water. Asked for towels for the pool - said we can’t go in - Sri Lankan people in the pool & covid. Food ok - staff friendly- situated on a main road - quite basic but we were on a tour so not sure of the cost - it must have been cheap!

Clean place, good service, friendly staff.
Food is also ok, but rates are quite high when compared with the quality n variety available with them.

There isn't any worse place than this in Dambulla city. Low quality food. Poor service. Extra ordinarily expensive.

Fast & courteous service by the staff. Place is by the main road, very convenient with ample parking space. Buffet or a-la-carte menu available for meal services. Food might be pricey but it taste very good

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!

I went to their restaurant for lunch and ordered a fried rice, a 400ml EGB and a Sprite buddy bottle. Fried rice is 1,000 LKR, For EGB it's 250 and 150 for the Sprite. Fried rice was a made with Samba rice and by putting some small fried chicken (about 30g) they've converted an egg FR in to a Chicken FR.the glass bottles were so dirty. NO AC. Nothing. On top of everything they are charging 10% service charge. So they are charging restaurant prices for food and again charging a seperate service charge. It's a shame how thet are earning cheap money by deceiving their customers. No quality atmosphere, No next level service, Low quality food. Yet sky high prices.

I like this place, one of the best in dambulla. It's absolutely 3 start hotel.

Very neat, clean and organized place.

Each meal is approximately Rs. 1000 not enough for 2 people but more than enough for 1 person.food is very tasty and worthy.

Good owner and they have very nice friendly service.

Even though they say it's vegetarian and vegan friendly they only had Chinese fried and tomato sauce for lunch. Which is 600rupees per person. When we enquired if they have any thing vegetable as a curry which we willing to pay extra for they didn't, it cost us a lot for just fried rice and tomato sauce not worth the money.

Friendly customer service from reception & restaurant ; yet found some old used soap piece in the bathroom - not cleaned with attention. Struggled to iron our shirts as the only iron available was spoiled by a previous guest. Seems like there are no adequate staff. Hope the situation would be improved as it used to be prior to Covid.

Lunch and breakfast buffets were mediocre, the chocolate cake we had for dessert had a funny taste to it giving us the feeling that it's been sitting in the refrigerator for longer than it should have been. If you are on a budget but still want to sleep in a clean comfortable place, this can be your spot. Staff can sometimes be very annoying and not helpful for the locals (I saw many white skinned people being treated well.) Pool looked clean and well maintained.
