Pearly’s Matale

We spent a night with Pearl and Ranjeed. They are a wonderful older couple and immediately treated us like family. Pearl prepared a fantastic traditional breakfast. Afterwards Ranjeed showed us his spice garden, namely the mountain where he grew up. There you can find nutmeg, cocoa, cloves, coffee, lemongrass, fruits and much more. He can tell a story about every plant. He also showed us the old houses in the town, some of which were built from clay with cow dung and protected with lime plaster. Charmara, the local bricklayer, also knows a lot about dry stone walls.

In Matale there are also exciting Buddhist and Hindu temples to marvel at. A wonderful, very rich place. Thank you very much for these experiences, we will take them with us.

We stayed 2 nights at Pearl's Homestay, and we regret not having stayed longer because we loved it so much.
Pearl and her husband are exceptional people, so generous. We were welcomed as if we were members of their family.

This was one of the best homestays I have experienced. The hosts are very friendly, and hospitality is superb. We received a very tasty homemade breakfast. The house is located very close to Matale town (about 1.5 km). The view from the balcony is amazing. Highly recommended.

Just got back from a 2 day stay at Pearly's Matale. The entire trip was memorable and relaxing because of the hospitality provided by Pearly and Ranjan. The rooms were spotless clean and the apartment had everything that you would possibly need. We also ordered food and it was incredible. Pearly accommodated our special food request and also packed a take away breakfast for us. I will most definitely go there again and will recommend the place to anyone

This accommodation is a homestay.and this is exactly how we felt from the very first moment: at home. We wanted to avoid busy Kandy and it was the perfect decision. Pearl and Ranjan made everything possible for us to enjoy our stay. The food was fresh, home made and very, very tasty. The garden is a miracle and Ranjan explained all plants and animals to us. Birds, monkeys, and chameleons visited the garden while we were there. Simply amazing! The apartment is spacious and very well equipped. Everything was spotless clean.
