Rithu Restaurant reviews
49A lot of different veggie currys made fresh and tasted delicious. We came back a second time because it was so good. Also the staff is so nice:)
Very nice place for vegetables curry! Came here two days in a row.super friendly family and good service.a bit pricey.
We stayed in Sigirya for 3 nights, visited Rithu through recommendation from our driver Sudath (legend). It was amazing, our first experience of Sri Lankan food on our trip and it was good we went again the following day. Great food, great service. Highly recommend going for the Sri Lankan Curry.

DO NOT GO ON RATINGS!
I never thought I would pen down a review criticising a place which serves me food as I always consider that sacred since someone is feeding your stomach & hunger but I got to say I despise this place.
Every since we entered the restaurant, I got a feeling that they were anti Indian or Asian or a combination of both. I just did not feel that, I noticed this because I saw they had put up fans for the only other table which was occupied. The server did not come to take the order unless we had to literally catch hold of him.
The icing on the cake was they told our driver ‘Why the heck are they just ordering two dishes among 3 people, that’s cheap’. I mean how derogatory is that, I mean we aren’t hungry and no one can question me what and how much I order! Just to be clear, we aren’t even in the same league, so next time they should tread lightly on whom they call cheap.
Food was horrible as well. So pretty damn overpriced. I mean prefer to stay hungry than rather eat here.
Wow what an amazing experience on our second day in Sri Lanka! Not only the special rice and curry was five-star delicious, we also got a super tasty banana split after the main course for free. The owner and his son were so gentle and friendly. As it was not enough the owner gave us a TukTuk ride to our stay in Sigiriya as the place was less crowded on that day. We were so happy! Highly recommended!
We came there for dinner after visiting the cave temple. We were the only guests. The service (owned by a father and his son) was perfect. They were polite and accommodating. We ordered chop suey and special rice and curry…and what we get was gorgeous. That was the best dinner we had already in Sri Lanka. After we‘ve eaten (and it was really much), they served us a bananasplit. It was delicious. To the perfect finish, the son drove us with his tuktuk to our hotel.
Thank you for the nice experience and the good food.
We were on our way to Sigiriya and it was close to lunch time. We happened to pass by this restaurant because it looks clean and authentic, so decided to lunch there. It’s a simple place with coconut palm leaves roof (cadjan), chairs were comfortable to sit, and is spacious enough to not have to hear loud conversation of other customers.
The menu has a decent selection of choices, but it’s best to order rice and curry as that’s is fastest to get served and the food is tasty and fresh.
There was a misspelled on the menu for a shrimp appetizer. It indicated “butter shrimps”, but in fact it meant “battered shrimps”.
There were 2 other tables eating at the restaurant when we were there. I think they came with their drivers or tour guide. They were all tourists from Europe (Spain & French), so perhaps that explained the food served was not spicy. Since I like spicy food, I had to ask them to make it like the local taste, which they did.
We came here during lunch, the place was bright but I’m not sure if I would want to come here for dinner as it might be quite dark and chances are there would be plenty of mosquitos due to open air restaurant.
Amazing food. At first looks expensive, but the sizes are incredibly generous and all the currys are so tasty, we had over 14 dishes. Family business with a friendly son who speaks good English and a father who clearly knows his way around the kitchen. Maybe they could invest in an overhead fan just to help the foreigners manage.
For anyone who can't have spice but wants the Sri Lanka experience. This place is perfect!
Very very good food! We’ve eaten here twice and will eat here again. Very good portion sizes and they rotate the vegetable curries so you get to try something new. Me and my girlfriend both ordered the vegetable curry and they brought out 10 different dishes for us to try, such good value. Great quality and quantity! Highly recommend!
Beautiful fresh food at a good price served by a lovely family. 5* and would highly recommend if you’re staying closely in Dambulla or Sigiriya it’s worth the short trip!
Highly recommend the Sri Lankan special curry and rice. You're served a selection of local curry dishes all cooked to perfection. The jackfruit and aubergine were our personal favourites buy the chicken was also delicious.
The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome, while the place is very clean too.
A must stop when staying in or passing through Sigiriya!

Food was good, service was fast. Price for dishes was reasonable.
But be Careful, Ask Price for everything if its not written on menu.
We ordered french fries without checking the price and they charged us triple the price of usual.
It was a lovely experience and a good atmosphere the food is amazing and affordable price.
Authentic good food and reasonable prices. The staff was also very nice and we had some good talks. Definitely go there if you are in sigirya.
Very tasty food, nice place and kind service.
Highly recomended, thank you very much for this amazing experience
Though there is only one curry dish on the menu, that is enough! With it you get at least five tasty curries, all of them very tasty. Papadams and plenty of rice are included. I recommend this place!
In search for authenthic Sri Lankan’s taste we came to this charming restaurant and were not disappointed! The curry was beautifully served and amazingly flavored, the fried bananas for dessert were just perfection!
The owners were very welcoming and kind enough to offer us a ride back to our hotel.
Make sure to stop by while in Sigiriya and support this family run place.
