Roys Villa Hostel reviews
49My favorite hostel stay of Sri Lanka. Very big family feel here amongst the people staying and staff. Every meal I had was delicious and the location allows you to do all of the activities in the area. I wish I had the opportunity to have stayed more nights here.
Roys Villa is a great place! Really enjoyed the atmosphere, nice people, good food, super nice view from the chill attic. Everyone eats together at the same time, cooking lessons, campfire and many activities are organised. Super nice crew, great philosophy. The double room was incredibly nice (a bit noisy), beautiful open bathroom. More rooms are being added. Highly recommended!
Amazing Family Run Hostel. Delicious breakfast, one of the best I've had. Roy and everyone at the hostel are so generous - lots of organised tours too. A fantastic stay!
Very nice place. Warm welcome and the staff is very accommodating. They offer variety of popular activities to do around, they make it easy for the guests and they provide transportation. Great food!
What a fantastic place! Roy and his team are so kind, and we loved the beautiful room, the cosy bar and the amazing chill lounge! Thank you guys for this great time. If you come to Sigiriya, this is the place to stay!
Nice place with nice People
Very Spacious cafe with second floor with amazing view on paddy fields
food and coffee was good!
Very expensive compared to rest of Sri Lanka. Its far from everything, which means you have to eat at the hostel restaurant. Restaurant prices range 5 - 8$ for a meal and 1,50 - 6$ for drinks. Staff is exceptional, everything is beautiful and clean. Some Activities like Cooking class or going to the lake are for free. The place is surrounded by beautiful nature but that means there are loads of Mosquitoes. Not a real Hostelvibe more like a Hotel/Resort. Still had a good time there.
This is a MUST STAY. The most luxurious hostel I have ever seen. Queen beds in the dorms. The private rooms are also really nice. I stayed with my girlfriend for three day while working remotely and it was perfect. Super clean. Roy goes above and beyond to deliver good service.
The food is the best food i have eaten in Sri Lanka. We ate breakfast lunch and dinner at the coliving resort.
Can’t recommend this place enough. If you go to sigirya, make sure you stay at Roys.
Ps. For the digital nomads. I used my 4g from Dialog to work and was really fast (25mbs download and 15mbs upload in the restaurant/ coworking area)
Roy is a really good host and created a really nice place with amazing environment.
Sigiriya is a nice place to spend 2/3 days, some nice hikes and amazing greens.
The place is nice, but portions are small and pricy. Also had an excursion issue with Roy himself, dunno.
One of the most beautiful and relaxed hostels I've ever stayed at. It's located in a beautiful area surrounded by lush nature. The beds in the dorms are big and very comfortable. The common areas are wonderful and really relaxed where you can easily meet other travellers and have family dinners (food is sooo good!).
Roy and his family provide a fantastic experience for travellers looking for a social relaxed place to stay. Shout out to his little kid "Dobby" (real name still to find out) who still hasn't solved his Rubik's cube
I really really really love this place and cannot wait to come back. Everything is so well arranged.
One of our highlights of our honeymoon. Could not recommend this place more. Roy and Gihan were so friendly and helpful. We want to come back when the restaurant is finished to chill in the hammocks looking over the tea fields!
This place won best small hostel in the world recently and after staying there I totally see why. You really are treated like family. Roy and the staff are so friendly and helpful, there's plenty of excursions to do (especially pidurangala rock), the cooking classes are fun, the beds are extra comfy, and the common area is great. Couldn't recommend this hostel enough!
Staying at Roy’s was an excellent experience. The hostel is located in the countryside and it is a lovely, peaceful area. Roy and his family are so accommodating and welcoming and gave us so many tips and lots of advice for travelling Sri Lanka. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The food at Roy’s was amazing! He does a cookery class which is lots of fun and very informative. The dorms were very comfy and clean and the beds are a small double so very spacious and private with aircon in the rooms. I cannot recommend this hostel enough - you should definitely spend a night or two here!
Our room was very clean and spacious with our own terras with a view on the beautiful garden. I especially liked the open shower where you can see the sky while showering. In the morning there are squirrels running on the walls. Breakfast and dinner are delicious. Roy and his staff are very helpfull in arranging activities and also gave help for the rest of our trip in Sri Lanka. They can arrange a guide for you at Sigirya Rock. We eventually stayed here for 5 nights which is unusual when you are traveling for a shorter time. Thank you so much Roy for everything!
Roy’s
Wow! Just wow. This Hostel has it all… Roy is friendly and beyond helpful, his staff are amazing and kind, the food is to die for… Make sure to do the free cooking class! There are no bunkbeds here – only double beds which is such a treat. The bungalows are clean and air-conditioned and very roomy with a big giant storage closet for your bags, electrical outlet and light next to your bed as well. Roy was helpful and arranged a Safari to Kadulla National Park which was the best day ever. He also helped me get a train ticket on the epic Kandy to Ella train when I couldn’t find one anywhere. It’s not the cheapest Hostel around but I guarantee it’s the nicest! Totally worth the money… Make sure to try the passion fruit gin tonic, you won’t be sorry.
A great place to stay with a great host. Roy offers cooking classes, sunrise hikes and plenty more activities too. We had a great stay here and would love to return one day!
I am not writing reviews most of the time but this hostel deserves the best. Roy and his family are amazing with a capital A. I had the best time staying with them. They take you up in the family if as you are one of them. The activities are great and the food is even better! Massive thanks to Roy and the other staff
Such a great place to stay! Definitely more than just a hostel!
He offered great tours, told us so much about the area and the country! Cooking class was amazing.
Great rooms, who were very clean!
