The Otunna Guest House Sigiriya

Absolutely the best place in this town. Very nice owner. A cozy house and an interesting breakfast, the equipment is also ok. The garden is already a fairy tale. I highly recommend it, I was with my family and it was great

Without any doubt, it was the best experience of my trip in Sri Lanka. All the accomodation are comfortable, big and clean and a beautiful garden and chill area.
But the most beautiful of all was the friendly and helpful behaviour of the young owner, Dinesh, and his family.
His mum cooks very good and his dad take care of you since the 1st day of your staying.
Thank you very much Dinesh and family to take care of us during our 3 nights accomodation in Sigiriya.

We had already been in contact with Dinesh in advance. He tried very hard to make our stay as pleasant as possible.
Both breakfast and dinner were gigantic and 100% traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, his mom cooks.
Whether you want help for sightseeing or a simple taxi ride, you can trust that the driver is friendly and the price is right.
Garden is like a botanical garden in the jungle.
Room super clean.

We spent two wonderful nights at Otunna. The house is located 20min walking distance from Sigirya Rock. The garden is very beautiful and peaceful. The owner’s mum cooked the most delicious curry we ate in Sri Lanka with organic vegetables. The breakfast is great too! The room is very clean and spacious with AC and fridge.
We would love to come back

I would rate my stay 10 stars if I could! Our host was an absolute gem, an amazing man with an even kinder family. We stayed at Otunna Guest House for two nights and almost wished we could have stayed longer. He was our guide, gave us advice and provided the best suggestions and conversation. The stay itself was lovely - it’s own green little jungle and incredibly peaceful and private at the same time. Hidden among the nature, this little paradise was no short of stunning and anything a luxurious-style home should have to offer.

Finally, the food! We’ve seen almost the whole island of Sri Lanka by now and haven’t yet witnessed the level of generosity and good quality food that we experienced right here in Sigiriya. The food was out of this world! They let you try everything with breakfast and you eat like kings and queens. The dinner we spent at the Otunna Guest House and received some homemade cooking from his mother is still the best to date! I’d highly recommend trying mama’s home cooking and then venturing out into town for a drink or so (trust me on this!).

Location = it’s the perfect spot for a morning hike to Sigiriya or quick hop to Pidurangula. It’s located close enough to town that’s walkable, but you can also take a tuktuk ride over to Dambulla for the day.

Any suggestions or advice you receive, take it! It’s been the best experience we’ve had so far.

I had a great experience at the Otunna Guest House. What stands out most is how friendly and accommodating the owner Dinesh was. The food - both breakfast and dinner - was excellent and some of the best food l've ever had. My room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. I appreciated the air
conditioning. Location was great for Sigiriya: a five minute walk to some local restaurants and a 10 minute drive to Lion Rock. I'd highly recommend and would stay here again.

Absolute paradise staying with this beautiful family @otunnasigiriya guest house. Such a warm, friendly family and ammā is an amazing cook. I'd absolutely recommend staying in for dinner. Breakfast is also incredible!
Dinesh has thought of everything, all the home comforts, fully stocked fridge, plus mosquito bands, nets, room diffuser, flipflops and multi plug adaptors which all just made life easier.
Only a 20 min walk from Lions Rock or you can jump in a tuktuk. Dinesh will help you with absolutely anything if you're stuck.

An absolutely fantastic place to stay.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean, and well decorated. The grounds were filled with beautiful foliage and the communal seating/dining area was comfortable and atmospheric.
The food was some of the best we tasted in the whole of Sri Lanka and Dinesh is genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met.
Also in a great location for exploring Sigiriya with good road links and lots to do nearby.
If you are looking to stay in Sigiriya, do not hesitate to book The Otunna Guesthouse. We stayed for two nights but could have easily stayed for a week! Will definitely be back if we visit Sri Lanka in the future.

Perfect place to stay in Sigirya. You are in the jungle, amazing! Dinesh is a very good host, very kindly and his advices are very helpful specially for the wild elephant.

The Otunna was the first stop on our Sri Lanka round trip and we couldn't have wished for a better start. Dinesh was an amazing host. He organised our transfer from the airport in Colombo and spoiled us with a delicious dinner, cooked by his mother. He booked a safari for us and helped us find our way around the beautiful Sigiriya and helped us organise our trip onwards. The rooms have everything you need and the gardens are a beautiful place to hang out. We would highly recommend staying at the Ottuna and will do so ourselves on our next trip to Sri Lanka.

Fantastic guesthouse with the loveliest family. Clean, comfortable room. Gorgeous jungle garden. And the best food I ate in Sri Lanka! Do not miss out on Dinesh’s mum’s amazing cooking. Her dinners were a highlight of my trip!

We have stayed at Otunna for a few nights in April. Dines was extremely helpful and attentive. The place has a beautiful garden, clean A/C rooms and great atmosphere.
I highly recommend staying there. Dinesh will give you good advice on what to visit and organise a tuktuk/cab for you. Perfect stay at a local guest house!

Our stay was perfect. Dinesh, the owner, organized us the transfer to sigiriya, the transfer to our next city, activities like safaris, food and everything we needed. Food is cooked by his mother and is absolutely amazing (the best we had in Sri Lanka). Stay and eat there - you will not regret it.
The guest house is very clean, comfortable, has AC and is surrounded by a beautiful little garden. Dinesh and his family are very welcomming and also fun! Would definitely book it again.

Don't cancel your trip because of news. The country desperately wants tourists, and tourist towns we visited had petrol, fuel, and food. Fantastic and intimate guest house. The entire grounds are a lush tropical garden. The owner, Dinesh was very helpful and took great care of us. The cottage was spotless and everything worked perfectly. We loved sitting on the front porch in comfortable chairs in the cooler evening. We would definitely stay again.

Unfortunately we only stayed one night here. This place is amazing! Don't be missled about the news of the macroeconomic situation in Sri Lanka. In places like Sigiriya and especially the Otunna Guest House all of this is far away and they are grateful about hosting you with all their hospitality. We stayed in the new tree house which is close to perfect.
