Avalon weligama

Booked and paid for 5 nights. The first night I encountered a big cockroach in the room. I asked for a spray to kill it and moved to a different room after the second night, but in this other room I found 3 more cockroaches in and around the bed. I felt very uncomfortable sleeping there and when I found another one in the bathroom on the 4th day I decided to check out early. If it's just one then that is acceptable, but if they are in multiple rooms in the bed/bathroom and they vary in size then that means you have a problem. The owners didn't seem to care very much. They then refused to pay me back the money I had paid in advance for the last night, saying that I should have let them know the day before that I wanted to check out early (?). I'm very disappointed with the way this was handled by the owners. For 7000 per night you should be able to expect a comfortable, clean and cockroach-free room (not asking for much here), and there are many of them available in Weligama.

Horrible experience! I booked a room through booking with a commitment to pay. After I finished filling everything in the site I received a message from the owner telling me to cancel the room because one of his guests had decided to extend his stay for another ten days, also telling me that I would get another room since it was available. Trusting him, I proceeded as suggested by the owner. The next day I arrive at the place and one of the guys starts telling me that on the same day many people decided to book a room and for that reason my room was no longer available. After suggesting me an alternative solution in the area that was completely different from the one we had booked we decided to leave. It was totally unfair because we moved from another place 100% sure that we had a stay for those 3 nights. We trusted him and cancelled the reservation, that way they got rid of any responsibility.

I stayed at Avalon for 10 days. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, facilities, and location. It’s very close to the surf beach, supermarkets and bus station which made everything so nice and easy.
The hosts are lovely! They helped me with rides, recommendations and even shared their food with me.
I highly recommend staying at Avalon. You’ll be very satisfied if you choose to stay here.

I stayed at Avalon for 10 days, and can highly recommend to others. The bed was comfortable, AC worked well and I had access to a large balcony which I could even do some work on. The owners were also very kind and attentive.

Lot of care has gone into this place. Great location near the main beach at Weligama and all of the surfboard rentals. Close walk to town and tucked away in a nice quiet street.

Really lovely guesthouse. Perfect if you’re remote working because of the pretty garden area and balcony. The owners were so nice and accommodating and the beach is just down the road!
