Barefoot Backpackers Hostel

Bad service. We had booked a private room and when we arrived the private rooms had suddenly been turned into dorms. We have not heard anything about this in advance and have therefore not been informed. The blame was then placed on Hostelworld and the owner Leon responded to this problem quite nonchalantly. No good solution was offered except the idea of ​​going to the hotel around the corner

Amazing hostel! The dorm rooms are very clean and the beds very comfortable (with AC). The view is just amazingly beautiful. There are comfy beanbags where you can sit and watch the ocean. The wifi is very good as well and there is a great social atmosphere as the hostel organises something every day that you can join if you want to. The hostel is very green with beautiful plants and the breakfast is included. Highly recommend!:)

Spent 10 days at Barefoot. Made my trip to Sri Lanka! Leon the owner is a great host, vibes and social events are terrific, clean grounds, perfect view. Couldn’t of asked for a better experience.

Wäre so gern länger geblieben! Sehr gute Lage, coole Community. Das 4rer Zimmer ist recht klein, aber man ist ja nur zum Schlafen dort:)

I’ve been travelling the world for a long time.this is probably the best hostel I was in! The staff are super nice and helpful and it is located in the best spot possible - between two beautiful beaches: One is good for surfing (hiriketiya, 3 minutes away), and the other for chilling (dikwella, 2 minutes away).
Also, It is a very social hostel and everyone here go out eating and partying together, which is super fun!
really enjoyed my stay, wish I could stay here longer! Highly recommended.

Fantastic new social hostel! Facilities and location are great, the owner is an absolute gentleman and the hostel makes a huge effort it's guests in terms of getting everybody together and doing things daily. Couldn't recommend more.

I don’t understand the positive reviews of this hostel. This place is very commercial and you feel that it’s only about making money. I paid double of what I paid in all other accommodations in Sri Lanka. I had very nice rooms for myself in lovely places and here I got one bed in a 4-bed-dorm that had 10 m2. Breakfast was also the worst I got so far. All in all very disappointing stay:/

The staff was super helpful and internet was extremely fast! The garden has a beautiful view on the water and the tables in the garden are very inviting to play games and meet new people. I felt immediately at home at this place and the breakfast was yummy (veggie eggs, toast and fresh fruit). Hiriketiya and Barefoot is for sure a place I recommend to my friends and already booked again for next week.

I've stayed here for two nights and so far this hostel beats the rest of it in terms of how well it is managed, maintained and they literally stick to their name "Barefoot". You will be greeted with an amazing sea view here.so best not to miss out on any beds that you see available here! The members of the Hostel are welcoming and always make it a point to socialize with other house members by organising events, family dinners etc.

Really enjoyed our stay here! We had a private room which was very clean and quiet for a good night sleep. Staff is very friendly and have plenty of good tips where to go. It was one of those rare rainy days in Hiriketiya and we were very happy to spend it here! Got to meet a lot of lovely people, played games and went all together for a social activity. Can definitely recommend this place for your stay in Hiriketiya.
