Deniyaya Guest House reviews
7Beautiful place! The owners are very tactful and unobtrusive, but at the same time friendly. A delicious and rich breakfast is prepared upon request. Incredible coconut pancakes
Comfortable bed and cushions. The room is glued to the house.
20 minutes walk from the bus station.
The owner is an official rainforest guide.
Possibility to go the day with him. Quiet and gentle tour of the rainforest to observe as much as possible.
Bus to and from Tissa, Matara and Weligama. Ask how to arrive or leave by bus to the owner or his wife. The lines change as well as the schedules!
Possibility to rent a scooter for cheap.
The host is amazing! Gihan did not only organize an individual guided tour reflecting our needs and wishes, he also organised another guide to do one out of two tours with us because he couldn't fully show us everything we liked as we wanted to do some more challenging hikes through the forest. It was an amazing experience. Gihan pointed out so many animals and plants. It was awesome. Thanks a lot! (we did one tour through Kurugala Entrance, and one through Pitadenyia)
The food at the homestay was always sooo much, they even prepared lunch bags. For our taste it was nice.
Concerning the accomodation itself, it was pretty basic. It was enough to get some sleep but it wasn't very cosy, comfortable, quiet or super clean. That's why I give only 3 stars for the room.
PS: Gihan also provides leech Socks and salt, really helpful
Located in few KM away from town.
Nice place to rest before you start your adventures in deniyaya (top three destinations are gongala hiking, sathmala falls, three brackish water springs)
Rooms are neat & comfortable.
Southern style local cuisines prepared by gihans mother and wife are so delicious. You should try their dhal curry, pol sambola (cocount sambal) & string hoppers.
I have stayed in the Deniyaya Guesthouse for going into the sinharadja forrest. The host of the guesthouse, Gihan, happens to be also an official guide for the forrest and member of ecology preservation. We spent about 7 hours in the forrest while gihan was very patient in spotting birds and animals.
Room was clean and breakfast and dinner were prepared very well.
The next day Gihan drove me to Ella for a reasonable compensation. We had good fun underway. It was a very nice experience.
