Dorian Guest House And Restaurant

I wanted to express my gratitude to the owner Petr, for his professionalism, kindness and constant presence in the facility. The second floor room is perfect and the property is within walking distance of the ocean. I would like to add a very important note, as an Italian, cuisine is an important element for me and here I found exquisite food from breakfast to dinner. Congratulations also to your staff, kind and always available. Even when the kitchen was closed they made every effort to prepare something for my sick roommate. I can only invite travelers to stay in this facility (which is the third that we have changed in Sri Lanka due to poor hygiene and absolute neglect). The price per night is absolutely consistent with the quality of the service and the structure, in fact I personally consider it economical considering that here there are places at 50 dollars a night (and we pay much less!) that should be closed. Rooms are ok. However the hotel owners /partners collude with the Tuk Tuk Mafia. The Tuk Tuk Mafia, will not allow other drivers (tuk tuk or cab - Uber or Pick me) to come to the hotel. These Tuk Tuk Mafia will force/threaten you to take their services and charge 4-5 times. The hotel owners are fully aware and part of this and will not take any action against this. Cab Drivers are aware of this and are scared to come as they are threatened that if they come back again, then their cars will be damaged and their tyres will be flattened. Beware of the Tuk Tuk Mafia and places likes this that support such Mafia over customers who are are staying at their guest house.

Worst experience at a hotel because of the owner Peter. Absolutely useless. Drunk and arrogant.

We checked in around 4.45pm. Room was not ready and we were given the standard room even though we booked a deluxe.

Then we were given the deluxe room and the room was not ready with no bedsheets. Then we returned at 8pm hoping it would be done but it was not.

We asked PETER who the owner was and he did NOT admit it was him and hid from us like an imbecile. It was quite pathetic and stupid.

And then when we saw him again he hid.

The locals staff at the venue very were kind and informed us that the owner was arrogant and pathetic.

Glad about the locals. But the owner needs to go home and continue drinking his days away.

I have lived my stay here. The staff is so friendly. You must try the Thai salad and add the tuna sesame on top. Delicious! Beautiful rooms and lovely balcony for relaxing. Super close to the gorgeous and pristine coconuts beach.

Went there several times for a dinner - tuna steaks are pretty great, and other food is nice too. Relaxed experience.

Went to Dorian a couple times for the sesame tuna, which was always pretty good. Had a less than delightful experience when myself and six friends went for my birthday. Long story short, I asked at the bar if we could have the bottle of wine friends gifted me which they said yes to. Then throughout the meal we were hassled about it. By the end they came and said we had to buy a bottle from them now. Super lame given that we each spent 1500-2000 rp each, all bought a drink as well, and asked about the wine beforehand. Really poor service / hosting etiquette, and overall odd interaction. A real lost opportunity, as none of us will be back.

Extremly loud music is playing all the day. Can’t stand with it. No chance to rest, sleep and live there

I was in contact with Petr (maybe the manager?) we wanted to book a room for a collaboration but he was just being rude and said I couldn't express myself well enough. I don't think that's the way to treat your guests.

Small portion and expensive tasty food.
Even small beers.

You have to order and pay first. If you want 3 cold beers you go to the register 3 times.

We lived here 7 days and it is really good place. The staff is very helpful, there is a restaurant below and the chef cooks very tasty dishes. I would like to go back there again.

Very nice hotel, comfy and clean, excellent restaurant, friendly hosts and excellent location, one minutes walk from the beach and coconut surf point

Good Food, but expensive. The normal Rooms are very simple. Not safe feeling special for female solo traveller. Take care of your Stuff. The Beach is good place for surfing, for swimming you have to walk a little bit.

Best sesame tuna I’ve ever had! Can’t miss it if you are in Weligama. Also, a perfect place for your stay. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

A nice place to stay, but keep your doors and windows locked, we were robbed during the stay there. We spent the whole next day trying to understand what we had to do: ask for police or not, should we pay for staying there or not, etc. The manager allowed us to not to pay for staying there, which was very kind from their side, but the whole attitude and the process of fixing weren't delightful at all.

Tuna steak is quite good, BTW.

Dorians Guest house is situated very closely to the surf and chill beach coconut beach.
The house offers beautiful equipped large Rooms with comfortable beds including mosquito nets.
The owner is very friendly and not only gave us tips about our travel in Sri Lanka but organized also us some brand new motorbikes for rent and a night Snorkling tour.
The included breakfast was very tasty and fresh!
The Restaurant of the Guest House offers a wide variety of different kitchen styles. Ranging from Spicy Sri Lankan curry over refreshing Greek salat to Mouth Watering Tuna Burgers and Tuna Steaks.
The only downside: some times the staff could be more attendant during the order at the restaurant. However I have experienced this in many other restaurants around the county.
Overall: we stayed 8 nights at dorians guest house and had a fantastic time! Thank you!

Food was OK. If you expect 5 stars, you will rate 4, if you expect 4 stars, you will probably think 5) Food is a bit better in Lions rest behind the corner.

Dorian is more expensive than the other places around but the wifi is really functioning and the atmosphere is cool. We liked it and went there several times.

At first - it's a restaurant with high level prices and a very calm to clients staff. And then - the second - a guest house without any attention to guests staff.

Great place to stay, beach is super near, the views are beautiful, owners were really helpful and friendly. You can arrange surfing lesson with them. Oh, and the food, it is delicious ️
