Emma Sea View ( Emma's )

Our experience at Emma’s Seaview left a bad taste in our mouth. It was such a nice location. The initial staff were super nice and the manager was away in town attending other “business”.

We had tried to book through airbnb and it wasn’t yet approved. On arrival we were told there is room and we agreed to stay for 3 nights. We went for a surf left our bags there because the rooms weren’t ready yet and when we came back they had given our room to other people (we asked them how much the Seaview rooms were). We ended up compromising on a more expensive room. Then next day we moved to another room, confirmed to stay for three nights. Then in the morning after our surf the manager asked us to leave because he has another booking. Trying to communicate with him was difficult with no ownership.

We weren’t the only one who had this problem. Another couple arrived that night and they had given there room to another person. When we spoke to them about it, they said he told them that if they didn’t come they had to pay full price for no show. So they arrived in evening to no room…

Overall if the actual owner reads this, I’m not sure if Shan has other ‘business’ going on that is going on that is taking up his time but the customer experience sucked.

Other than that, great location.

We only had breakfast at Emma's Sea View. Unfortunately, the breakfast was just average but at an above-average price.
The omelet was very little and included 4 slices of toast with old margarine. The pancakes were cold. There was also tea, which was great. We paid about 14 dollars. For this money you can dine like kings in Sri Lanka.
Overall, the service was very friendly. The location is great and you can definitely stay overnight here, we were able to take a quick look into the rooms. However, I advise against eating/breakfast - you're better served elsewhere. Anyway, thanks for your effort, maybe you just had a bad day.

Pretty average facilities with no hot water, no air cond and poor service. The room has a fan, a basic bed and open to mosquitoes but 1 minute to the beach

Great room, great view, great location, great breakfast. Plus the owners are super nice! We really enjoyed our time and will definitely come back!

We stayed at Emma Sea view for a whole week, Shan looked after us beautifully and was very helpful. The whole place is clean and spacious, with a beautiful terrace and a large sunny garden where there is grass. Shana's mother cooked us delicious Rice and curry and the whole family was very pleasant. The place is a short distance from the sea in a quiet location. We would love to come back here again.

Very nice family and monkeys and peacocks in the garden with seaview. Perfect stay for surfers- right in front of the peak

Great bungalow as home base, amazing location above Zinc Bar at the end of beach. Walking distance / short scooter ride away from everything, yet it’s quiet & peaceful. Take note that There is no hot water. Beware of Monkey if you have fruits with you. Host is helpful but you need to WA him with your request in advance. Great value for money.

Stayed here for three weeks and could not have been better looked after. Shan and his family went out of their way to make my stay lovely. I loved checking out the surf each morning from the garden. A 2 min stroll down to the sea front and 5 mins to the main beach. Lovely spot!

Delicious cheap local food in a relaxed, nice garden overlooking the bay. Fish curry is the best!
Staff is very kind. Food takes a bit of time but highly recommended!

Probably the worst food experience I had in Sri Lanka. We ordered rice&curry and 5 minutes later they told us they don’t have it tonight. It would be fine but few minutes later couple sitting next to us got rice&curry ‍️ I ordered tuna with potatoes and salad. Waited for one hour even though there was one more mentioned couple eating there. I got overcooked tuna, terrible salad and no potatoes. The food was so bad I couldn’t eat it. Left restaurant hungry and sad.

This place is just lovely The beautiful green garden, where you can have breakfast and dinner, overlooks the surfspot in Hiriketya. You can hear the sea from your room and it’s just a 2 minute walk to the beach. Good wifi and clean rooms. The owner, Shan, is amazing. Highly recommend!

We really liked the place, good value for money and the owners are very friendly, helpful and flexible. We booked there for 3 nights and extended our stay in the end for a week. The rooms are simple but very clean and breezy and there was everything you need, even a shared kitchen. The garden area was clean and well maintained as well and you have sea view through the palm trees. It's only few minutes walk to the beach but you wouldn't hear the noise even it's so close by. We would definitely come back to Emma Sea View if we will be again in Hiriketya.

Very relaxing and peaceful location away from the busy beach area, with great sea views through the palms. Great hospitality and value for tidy / clean simple rooms.

We didn’t stay there but we stayed in the same street and everyday their Emma-tuktuk drove through the neighborhood with INCREDIBLY loud music blasting, it was so loud we could hear it several streets away and often we couldn’t say anything when we heard it, because it was already so far away but you could hear the thumping bass very clearly.

Great location. Great view. Work was in progress on the room we booked so we were upgraded to a double room. The pillows were mouldy and the mattress smelt bad. Tradesmen were walking past constantly. No privacy. It rained most of the week and the room constantly leaked. It was impossible for us to sit outside because of the flies. 1/5

Wonderful private beach cabin with sea view on the best bay in Sri Lanka: Hiriketiya. Emma Sea View is a spin-off from Ocean Villa. They’ve built one cabin so far (rest will grow with the business) so that gives you a lot of privacy and quite, while still the service of a larger hotel just behind it. Perfect. I also took a surfing lesson with the young owner (Shaan), a lot of fun and fair price.

Beach front location. Four poster beds. The best accommodation we stayed in on Sri Lanka. Beautifully designed, light and airy. Lovely family

This Place feels like Paradise. It gives you sea view, and sound witch we liked a lot.
It is a nice walk on the beach, before you can swim or surf because of the reef.
When you prefer a private home, which is clean including nice breakfast, you should stay at the sea view house.
We visited hiritikiya the end of October during low season so the price was quite low at that time, but still when you pay a little more is it still a fabulous place to stay.

We were so disappointed with our stay here. The room wasn’t very nice, no hot water, bars on the window made it feel like we was in a prison cell. The breakfast was awful. It’s basically a building site. We cut our stay short as we couldn’t stay another night. Good location close to beach is the only positive.
